I've read some stories where bison fans have said they will be voting yes purely to hurt UND. Any bison fan who votes yes simply because they think keeping the nickname will harm UND is admitting that their teams cannot complete with UND when the playing field is level and equal.

Wow - must have been a lot of Sioux fans there with attendance at over 1,000 because su fans don't care about playing UND - so we're told.

Okay I've shared this before but I just need to remind you it was SCSU President Saigo that carried the torch for native american nicknames. When he left the issue really died out on the campus. If it makes you feel better his legacy includes leaving SCSU in financial straits. Yes there are still professors and other liberals on campus that have issues with the name but it was not the hockey fans - come to St. Cloud for the series next year and you'll be invited to attend the Center Ice Club social with the true SCSU hockey fans - free food, door prizes and lots of good natured rivalry talk. I don't think that would ever happen in bisonville. Don't hate on the real SCSU hockey fans, imagine having to exist in the shadow of the rodents your entire existance.

Let's save some time - if The Sioux win it's because...the games meant more to UND than to su, it was UNDs superbowl, su was looking ahead to more important games...

They can't move on - their existance depends on their ability to continually compare themselves to UND in hopes that they can convince someone and themselves that they are better, but UND is the Flag Ship University of North Dakota and will continue to be. That's why they can't move on.

Couple of thoughts - It's been said but teams gotta realize the national championship is won one game at a time- The table is set for a team to come from out of nowhere to win this thing -it might as well be THE SIOUX!

Just wondering if the NCAA monitors all the other teams that used to have "hostile and abusive" names to make sure their team, staff, etc no longer wear anything that reflects on the history and pride associated with their previous nickname? Marquette for example.

Minnesota players get it - as per their comments in the newspapers. It's a great rivalry and fun for them to play in. Minnesota fans can't stand it that a small school from a small state has created a college hockey dynasty - thank you Ralph.

Is anyone else tired of the on site announcer "Rusty" making sometimes subtle and sometimes not so subtle digs around North Dakota and Grand Forks. It seems he can never go through an interview without making some snide reference to his opinion that Grand Forks is hicksville. For those who have never been to a Final Five "Rusty" is a guy who runs around the crowd and does interviews for the big screen - most of which pit someone from one school against someone from another school. Then during the interview it becomes obvious he is fan of the rodents and thinks any town outside of the Twin Cities is a place to be made fun of. It's obvious he has a big of an opinion of himself.

First class plane tickets, posh hotel rooms, mansions, $200,000 for a glorified Division II game ....eh it's only taxpayer money.

That's a tough call - I'm really looking forward to the brunch.

Thanks for the correction. Changing directions a little - how crazy is it going to be in St. Paul this weekend 5 of six teams could bring lots of fans, St. Patrick's day in an Irish town and temperatures between 65 and 70 Thursday - Saturday - it's gonna be CRAZY!

That would be the school administration - not the Center Ice Club and its members. When Santos was President he was fixated on the nickname issue and left the school in financial shambles.

Yah but some fans of some schools like being in a weak conference it makes it easier for them to make the tournement.

Let's not bash too much on SCSU - they are great hosts when we come to town and it's a nice little rivalry - usually more like a hammer and nail one - but yet the Sioux almost always split in St. Cloud. I'm not talking about Friday night with anyone until we win Thursday - it's called Karma.

Just want clarification - the Hoggsbreath Sioux Brunch this year is Friday at 11 a.m. correct?
