Funny name for a bar - hope the Happy Hour is good. "Yah Honey we were good - spent all day at a museum."

What is being lost here is the big picture - the small group that was against Native American names is becoming a large group and they have the media's ear - who is always looking for a victim. More questions are being raised about Florida State but they are big enough to hold them off - UND was not. Changes across the board are coming. I think the way UND used the nickname was very respectable (in the last 20 years but don't dig back further because it gets ugly). I also think that if one school has to change then EVERY school should have to change. But the reality is if UND still had Fighting Sioux as its official nickname the distractions from liberal do-gooders would be incredible and would hurt the entire university. It's sad but true. I do think that those who think once a new nickname is chosen the FIghting Sioux will disappear are mistaken - while the logo isn't being printed on any new merchandise there is plenty of logo stuff out there to last another generation. And there is nothing wrong with preserving a proud history.

I'll be there in my black shirt that glows "Sioux Forever" when the lights go out.

We continue to hear what a terrible job Mussman did, (and don't call me Mrs.) I guess it's something fans do - heap on blame, and the more time passes the easier is to make !@#$ up, but as has been shared there were much more to the transition struggles than just Mussman. I'm just wondering if anyone has first-hand knowledge that he (and his staff) did such a poor job of keeping in contact with recruits. It's been pointed out that they brought in some very good talent, but then it's easy to look back and take shots and say they shouldn't have recruited outside the region (when the common thinking back then was at this level recruiting needs to be national), they brought in players of poor character (really have you read the Fargo Police Blotter), they weren't connected to their team, they never visited ND high schools, the list goes on. He deserves a little better legacy, he was the coordinator for our national championship team, he was given the unenviable job of taking us through transition, he was given no money for staff, so we have to assume his other budgets were thin (recruiting), and it's quite obvious that football is not the first priority of the athletic department. If you think I am defending him fine, whatever, and I'm not saying he should still be coach, I'm just saying it's not easy taking a team through DI transition and if you compare UND's transition to 99.9% of other schools that have done it UND was right in the pack, given the resources they were given. Bubba is the guy but do we have to build his legacy by beating the Mussman dead horse?

Okay you must be done for the day you've made your daily quota of "just a reminder we're better than you" posts and earned your Marsha Marsha Marsha award. . .

Truth hurts? Did you forget where you are-you come here so often you probably get mixed up.

Yah but he can always sell those rings on Ebay like others have and some Team Maker will pay big bucks for it so they can wear it when they are grilling bison steaks oblivious to the fact that the ability to purchase that ring on Ebay reflects on the value of an FU education.

But you have to find it (that's half the fun.)

Last year there really wasn't a tailgating spot for the player's parents - if that happens again this year know and share with other parents that they are always welcome - look for the Sioux Pride Van - the name will change but this van and the Sioux Pride behind it never will.

Congrats on post #9 - so you are new here? Can I ask what motivated you to take the time to create an account to post on a UND fan site? Just to be clear it appears that what you are saying is that the reasons that these student athletes are choosing UND over SU is because UND is offering scholarships while SU is only offering them PWOs and UND is offering playing time right away and SU isn't? Hmmm. What's your thoughts on the possibility that these guys might just like UND better, the coaching staff, the school, the education or that perhaps they understand that UND has dominated SU before and they can be a part of a team that will do it again?
-
Now I just hope the fair-weather fans step up and put a couple thousand more fans in the stands and the students discover there's more than hockey games on the weekend to get rowdy at. It would be nice to see the tailgating lot back at full strength too.

Do Preferred Walk Ons really have an "offer" or isn't it the same as anyone who wants to walk on - "work hard and you could earn yourself into a scholarship".

Thanks for your interest in UND football and never ending fountain of knowledge. Pretty sure there are plenty of DI college towns that have airport logistic issues - Not thinking there are very many direct flights into Charleston, IL - Champaign is their main airport (52 miles away) they seem to be doing okay.

Exceptions can always be made.

So much for "what's best for the kid" - he wasn't even playing much, is a foreign exchange student who wants to be closer to his friend. Bush leaque.

What gets lost as the years go by is the lack of financial support that Muss had for his assistant coaches. I'm not bashing those assistants just saying if you look back the money wasn't there and thus the experience wasn't there. That was one thing that Bubba negotiated into his package - much more money for salaries for his staff.

A good win - sitting at my computer watching thinking the worst but we kept our poise down the stretch. Free throw shooting is much improved this year - helps to have a couple of very high percentage guys. You can see they are working on rebounding but it is still a huge weakness - still need continued aggressiveness in that area. For a drop-down 7 footer (which usually means no hands) Shanks shows some ability and will develop. Plenty of confident guys on this team - they just need to get it together and they could move up the standings.

Danger Trolls in your rear mirror are larger than they appear.

Good thing they played the game.

Weren't we picked to finish 9th this season - not saying it's acceptable but also shouldn't be surprising. Repeat for those looking for a fight - "NOT SAYING IT IS ACCEPTABLE".
-
Seems like they should allow students to be individual within reason - if they allow the eagle feather then they should also allow a Christian cross.

Welcome to UND and the unofficial SIoux family. Tailgating is picking up before the events. Last year there really wasn't a specific spot for player parents to tailgate but if you walk around with your son's jersey on you will make friends quickly. Back when UND was very good it all started and ended with the OL and DL that is where we are headed again.

I ran into him this summer at an event - I didn't know him but was wearing a Sioux shirt and he struck up a conversation. He was looking good and said he was fine.

Thanks now that I understand your perspective I have to say I am on the other side of the sports universe. To me sports is pure entertainment. To me losing isn't fun and I want my team to win but a loss has no impact on my day too many other things are more important. Sports in general isn't even in my top 5 as far as what is really important to me. I will do us both a favor and ignore you (no offense).
-
I would like to know your thoughts on my questions: Do you feel that sports is no longer entertainment? Do you grieve or stress over a UND loss for more than a few minutes? Is UND losing a game really important in your life?
