  1. The thing about beating a team that is 1-7 is if you lose it just adds more fuel to the "Fire" and if you win you don't get any credit for it. Drake seems to have fallen on hard times wasn't that long ago they were the talk of mid-major basketball. I wonder if their fan site has a thread asking for their coach to be fired?
  2. It's always fun to spend other people's money. I do agree that the REA needs to hear from the fans about dissatisfaction with the fan experience - but have t to wonder if they really care about anything other than hockey over there.
  3. That's another exaggeration - driving is just a very small part of this guy's overall job (as I read the story) but still seems like a sweet job. (Damn defending FU again i have to go take a shower I feel so dirty.). I have to admit FU makes it so easy to poke fun at them - they are the Tommy Boy of higher education. Because the hits just keep on comin ...http://www.inforum.com/content/ndsu-foundation-turmoil-over-high-turnover-allegations-retaliation
  4. I can see the argument that a university president could be more productive if they didn't have to drive. (wow I'm defending FU). Sadly some of this is driven by small-town mentality. There are still people out there who think if you make more than $10 an hour you're over payed. I would also say that it's easier to drive around in Grand Forks than it is in Fargo - just my opinion.
  5. Yah and it wasn't that long ago that UND was the front runner - everything goes in cycles. I know this is a fan site so it's the place to rant but geez sometimes I wonder how many of you would do if you were held to the same level at your jobs.
  6. When UND decided to go DI everyone knew that basketball was going to take a beating. No chance of ever winning a national champion (compared to DII), much tougher recruiting, trading one of the top DII conferences for a lower mid-level. I'm not sure where this discussion is leading to - fire the coach, get out of the Big Sky, out recruit Kansas, take money from somewhere at UND and funnel it into MBB? At the end of the day it's a game being played by young adults who are at UND to get an education. It's fine to discuss and share opinions but let's not forget to enjoy the season (win or lose).
  7. There were calls for Brewster's head after his first season - good thing the fans don't make the coaching decisions.
  8. So you are saying that justifies him making all conference after just playing two games?
  9. Hmm how does that compare to Jer's numbers? Not seeing any bias here. (not saying Jer deserved it but he certainly had better numbers than Forte but Forte played in Mountain Time.
  10. Bailey Strand = Fergus Falls coach's daughter (she knows the game).
  11. It's not a conspiracy - it's a bias - there's a difference. just like the East Coast bias - they only know what they see, or take the time to see, they vote for the locals, the schools that are close to them. One of the downsides to being in the Big Sky (although there is plenty upside and I'm not saying I don't like the Big Sky) But UND is a displaced member we aren't in their time zone, we aren't in their history, we are the new kid and it is obvious that is coming into play in situations like all conference selections - can you honestly say that the UND defense didn't have anyone on it that deserved some conference recognition - it's because those who vote either don't take the time to do their research or they feel UND is too new and an outsider or we have to pay our dues - well our defense paid its dues this year. This is a UND fan site so as a fan I think it's okay to question things. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong just questioning.
  12. I must have misunderstood because I thought you were saying that the reason the #1 defense in the conference (UND) didn't have anyone on the all conference teams was because they didn't beat the big three. Whereas Idaho State who also didn't beat any of the big three had 11. Am I the only one who thinks there is a Mountain TIme bias?
  13. Yes except Idaho State either lost or didn't play the big three and they got 11 players on the all conference roster. I'm not whining I just think there is a Mountain Time Bias and just like the East Coast Bias it may never go away.
  14. We may never get it - there's an East Coast Bias and a "Mountain Time Bias" and yes we have to earn it but the defense did this year and ......
  15. Oh I"m on board with the turnaround and that we are headed in the right direction - the Weber Game was rock bottom yet the team and coaches were able to suck it up - it would have been easy and understandable to drop the last two games but they turned out to be the best two games of the season and we were playing our scout team quarterback and third stringers all over the place. Shows the character of those kids.
  16. Yup gotta keep it in perspective - middle of season was the tough guys - Montana, Montana State and EW, end of the season was the soft part of the schedule. Last two games were encouraging but the competition was soft (and yes I think NA was a pretender).
  17. UND knows that Kelly is in the perfect position - He can work through the name change and retire then the new president starts with a clean slate and no nickname baggage or blame.
  18. Isn't that what makes for good rivalries? Not apologizing for them as I am a true Sioux fan, but as has been shared the "vocal role" against the nickname was driven by the college president and liberal professors on campus (sound familiar to UND?), the hit on Chat - yup Marvin was known as a hitter as were all Marvins, as far as players diving - no one is better than the Gophers. I was not questioning that we have plenty to not like about them but I was questioning the need to "be little" them. THey are a rival that's easy to dislike and a nice annual road trip. Maybe it's because I hate it when the state of North Dakota gets bashed nationally or when schools like Minnesota and BU look down their nose at us - I think we as a fan base can be better than that. Let's hate them because it's a healthy rivalry.
  19. That was their former President Potter's agenda - once he left so did any support of the issue. Ironically he left SCSU in financial distress - should have spent more time watching the budget. The story also goes that liberal professors would offer student's extra credit to go hold a sign at UND games, once the extra credit went away so did their concern about the nickname.
  20. So now they've found a way to infuse FU into hockey conversations - FU decision makers are not interested in adding hockey, they had the chance, they passed. Can't we try and keep the hockey threads an FU-free zone? I have never understood the reason for bashing Saint Cloud - we don't like it when the rodent fans look down their nose at us, why do so many insist on doing it to Saint Cloud. Having been to several games there (always when the Sioux are in town) they have a nice arena, recently remodeled which shows support, a great student section that is always full and have invested in coaches which has resulted in strong recruiting and a run of great teams. Plus their booster club is very welcoming to UND fans at their social every year - it's a competitive rivalry and an easy road trip. What's not to like?
  21. What good could it do you already get every recruit you really want?
  22. Love it but I can bet there are many liberal do-gooders who would find something to hate about it.
  23. I believe the ultimate decision makers on campus will not allow "No Nickname". They will simply use the "No Name just keeps the Fighting Sioux alive" argument. Remember the Native American Cultural Center representatives also stated after their walk around campus that they wanted a new nickname chosen (which they demanded happen by this fall or they would start a negative campaign nationwide to discourage Native Americans from attending UND - wondering whatever happened to that threat?).
  24. First everyone was concerned the decision was going to be made by a small group and leave out a majority of the stakeholders, now that they are trying to give everyone and every group a chance to participate they get raked for dragging their feet. Would someone please share how they could have accomplished both?
