I kind of agree. Down year. Of course, I remember the era when the WCHA dominated NCAA hockey so much, that any year that a WCHA team didn't win the National Championship was considered a down year.

Love to see the SBoHE tell UND, "Well, just do whatever you want. The nickname law has no teeth. No consequences. Do what you feel is best for the university and the athletic department."

Honestly, I don't think the NCAA would do it. But... What if they did? After all, they could say the whole state is backing a "hostile" nickname, therefore the whole state will be banned from hosting games. South Carolina could be the precedent. Also, this idea, if it spreads, could be used to vote down support of the nickname. So, I honestly wouldn't mind this rumor fly around to put the fear of jebus into the SU folks to vote against the nickname, or else...

Maybe a nice coalition of former players. I'm not sure if current players, or even coaches could get involved in this political issue. I wish they could though...

Maybe just quietly drop the name and references throughout the athletic department and never refer to themselves as the Fighting Sioux. Wonder what Al would do then?

I say just ignore it. Drop the name. The law has no teeth. So, why bother following it?

I cheer for beach time to affect the Gophers, with sunburns on their perfect American goofer bods slowing them down enough for the pasty white guys from BC to beat them. Then, I cheer for either Union or Ferris to win it all.

The old Broadmoor Arena was an experience. It was like going back 50 years. Well, it WAS going back 50 years! CC has a much better place now, but one without the history and uniqueness of the Broadmoor.

You know what. I hope they don't. Unless the SL Tribe somehow wins their suit against the NCAA. It wouldn't bother me if the UND administration just ignored the "law without teeth" and dropped all references to the name. Tell Al Carlson and his buddies to kiss their collective rear ends.

Gophers played well. Sioux did for awhile, but seemed to run out of steam. Great year for the Sioux. Next year will be better. Good job!

Naw, I think it's more like we are Ivan Drago and they are Apollo Creed. We are the #1 seed. They are #2. We are ranked #4 in the nation. They are somewhere around #6 or 7... The upset won't be UND winning. It will be the Gophers winning. That's a fact, jack.

I'm greedy. I expect UND to win. History is on UND's side. UND usually wins playoff games against the Gophers. UND is the higher seed. Yeah, Minnesota will have more fans there, but remember that we do get the last line change AND Minnesota is playing on a rink size that matches UND's home ice. But, it should be a great game.

The #1 seeded North Dakota men's hockey team vs. the #2 seeded Minnesota squad. Bring 'em on!
