  1. Major gramatical and spelilng mistakes take away from the message. It causes too much static and interference in trying to decipher what you may be trying to say. Which may or may not be relavent. Who knows? If you are serious about being a member of the "media", you need to clean it up. That's reality.
  2. Yup. If we keep the name, we can *maybe* count on scheduling LCCC for a home and home in men's basketball!
  3. Or the Norske. I think only one other school, in Kentucky, uses it. Fighting Norske... That wouldn't be so bad. But, the NC$$ probably wouldn't like the ethnic imagery..
  4. You're going into the "media"? Okay. we will wait. and wait. and wait. and wait. and wait some more... and continue waiting...
  5. So, keep the name? or "WE ARE NORTH DAKOTA?" or "SIOUX SUCK!" You are a conflict of emotions, aren't you?
  6. I would like to see that just to keep using the McNaughton Cup for the league championship.
  7. Remember, let's keep the name. Also, "WE ARE NORTH DAKOTA". But, let's keep the name.
  8. I just know you don't see the irony here. I just know it.
  9. Very good post. A kindred spirit. I have seven hockey jerseys, two football jerseys, a baseball jersey (which is oddy my favorite), six hoodies, four sweatshirts, about 25 t-shirts, 19 hats, two flags for my patio, two car flags, numerous posters, numerous pins, sioux hockey player christmas ornaments, a jacket, a rain jacket, three winter caps, etc... I'll still wear what I can at games. But, it is time to move on. Drop the name. Satisfy the NC$$. Satisfy the BSC. Satisfy the scheduling needs of the hockey program. Help recruiting. A name is not worth it.
  10. Yeah, I just walked over and looked at my diploma in my office. Nope. Nothing saying "Fighting Sioux" on it. (Still can't figure out what "rights and privileges" my Bachelor of Arts degree give me. )
  11. I was thinking the same thing after last nights game. Sucked to tie, but at least Tech isn't such a doormat anymore!
  12. The women's team is borderline on getting home ice for the NCAA playoffs. If they do, with the current nickname situation, they will forfeit the right to host and go on the road. The WCHA playoffs do not matter. They will have home ice for the first round of that tourney.
  13. Good post. Hey, I like Archie Fool Bear. He's a passionate man who is doing what he believes to be right. He's a good guy. Those folks, like most of my relatives in North Dakota think that dropping the nickname is a bad, bad idea. They see it as caving in to the NC$$. Can't say I blame them, honestly. When all the facts come out, reluctantly, the citizens that understand the issue will vote to do what it takes to retire the name. Then, cross their fingers that SL takes it to the NCAA in court. HAD TO ADD SOMETHING... But, don't count on it. Realistically, let's wait a few years then change the name if needed.
  14. Maybe for the huge $$$ involved with football, they make some exceptions. Again, who cares? How does that affect UND athletics? They aren't going to make an exception for a UND program under sanctions.
  15. Not to go off topic, but I find that interesting. Was it changed after the Wild Bill Langer days?
  16. I had a couple of classes with Frank. Nice guy. But...let's just say I would go with the other's opinions.
  17. He reminds me of the Vince Vaughn character from the movie Swingers. "Gotta double down! Always double down! Gotta do it!" Me...I don't see the reason to gamble and possibly lose it all. It's stupid. Stupid people gamble away everything.
  18. Dude, don't give them any bb material for this weekend!
  19. You might be correct. However, if there is any hope, the lawsuit is it.
  20. I don't disagree with you. I am just saying that it doesn't matter. We gotta ditch the Sioux name. If the SL tribe wins their court case against the NC$$, great. We get the name back. If not, we'll probably choose a new one in a few years. Does this piss me off? You bet. But, that's the way it goes. Life isn't always fair.
  21. So? What does it matter? If they don't play us, they don't play us. the legal implications aren't important. What is important is getting the games scheduled. The lawyers can settle that issue years and years later. In the meantime, our athletic programs may suffer and die. Focus on what affects our program now.
  22. Going back to some post about Wisconsin/Minny playing Fla State, etc... Let's say that Minny and Wisco *would* play a Fla State team under sanction. Big deal. Who cares? The fact is they won't play a UND Fighting Sioux team under sanction. Let's focus on what affects us, not on what Minny and Wisco would hypothetically do or not do. Or we could just scream, "Oh those hypocrites!" over and over and over while our sports programs go down the tubes. Yeah, that'll give us some self satisfaction while watching us play whatever schedule we can scrape together in slowly emptying arenas and stadiums.
