  1. Not at all, he worked with Bubba for the last 6 years. He didn't want any part of a Bubba lead program. And why weren't Bubba's defenses up to par with NDSU's the last 6 years at SIU. He was recruiting to the same conference and was in a more advantageous location to recruit to. Seems like he should have been able to put together a very stout defense.
  2. And all you hear on this site is how great the new UND staff is. Their new OC is coming from a very mediocre (at best) D2 program. Also, in case you haven't been paying attention, Your new HC Bubba has been coaching at and recruiting to an FCS school for the past 6 years and his team and defense hasn't exactly been setting the FCS on fire. I think I would put Mr. Kleiman's defenses up against Bubba's. I think Randy Hedberg made the right choice with which coaching staffs to join.
  3. Only standing room or a couple of hundred returned by the visiting team, which go on sale the day before the game. They sell out all available tickets in an hour the day they go on sale (Aug 1st). If they had 2 or 3 thousand more available, they would sell out too. Demand for NDSU football tickets is higher than the demand for UND hockey tickets. There could be one exception to that, but UND doesn't play the Gophers for a few more years.
  4. But none of your remaining games are sell outs. Schlossy doesn't put his standard "in front of a sold out 11,900" in the REA in his stories anymore. If there is demand for 19,000 seats, wouldn't these game be sold out?
  5. Nothing wrong with that. Do they display the nickel with the Bison or the Sioux Head exposed, since they have moved away from the mascot?
  6. Why are they advertising that tickets remain before every UND hockey series? If they were sold out, why waste the money advertising? There is no way UND sells 19,000 tickets for a hockey game that doesn't include the Gophers or the Badgers, both of whom have moved on. I could buy a ticket to any remaining UND hockey game if I wanted to. If demand was high enough to sell another 8,000 tickets, I wouldn't be able to find a ticket.
  7. Some football programs have to hold onto Division 2 trophies, while others have Division 1 trophies to display.
  8. Give NDSU's #1 sport the same amount of home games as UND's #1 sport and NDSU sells 75,000 more tickets than UND.
  9. Because apparently there is only one Div 1 University in North Dakota. Just ask your new volleyball coach.
  10. There are two sports that most people care about, men's basketball and football. NDSU leads by a large margin in both. The sad part about UND football attendance is they were advertising season tickets for about the same price as a ticket to one NDSU game and they could still only get about 6,000 fans a game. NDSU sold out all games in an hour and turned away 1500 season ticket requests. The Alerus couldn't even hold just the NDSU season ticket holders.
  11. Are you talking about the Force or all of UND athletics? Because I think it could be true for both.
  12. No, the reason was their best players were on the bench in foul trouble. If UND and NDSU play 10 times in the BSA, NDSU wins 10, NDSU wins 8 out of 10 on a neutral floor, and maybe they split in the Betty.
  13. I was more embarrassed for UND and the ND Class B refs they hired for that game.
  14. But UND fans rave about the quality of the Big Sky. Well, the Summit in men's basketball, mid-major (14 of 34), Big Sky, low-major (27 of 34). MVFC in football best in FCS, Big Sky middle of pack (4 of about 10). I think NDSU fans are seeing higher quality athletes game in and game out, regardless of what the uniforms say.
  15. I would trade a win or two in the Big Dance for an FCS title.
  16. Actually, I think either would take a trip to the "Big Dance" over a trip to the NCAA Hockey tournament.
  17. And the SL couldn't be happier to have gotten rid of Southern Utah. The BSC got a real winner there. Men's basketball seems to be the determinant in how good D1 leagues are. And as long as the 3 Dakota schools, Omaha, Denver and ORU are in the SL, they will be the better conference than the BSC. Men's BB is THE sport for Omaha, Denver and ORU.
  18. What's up with Stanley Jones from Bismarck? We heard Bubba was putting the power play on him to get him to change his mind. Has anybody heard anything on Mr. Jones?
  19. SFI has PWO next to a couple of recruits, but not next to Holmen's name, so I assume its a partial.
  20. It sounds like Holmen committed to UND.
  21. Recently, ORU and Denver wanted in. UMKC left because they couldn't compete in the Summit. Oakland wanted in the Horizon because of geography, and I can't blame them. They went from a plane league to largely a bus league. Are you saying UND wouldn't leave the BSC for a Summit/MVFC combo?
  22. It usually takes at least 2, maybe 3 high schools kid to get him to the ground, and he runs away for d-backs. You might see one or the other qualities in high school backs, but rarely both. I don't know much about him as a hockey player, but I have heard he may want to play hockey instead of football after high school.
  23. If the Summit is so bad, why are they consistently rated ahead of the BSC in recent years in men's basketball? If UND was offered a package deal of Summit and MVFC membership, they would jump at the chance. NDSU on the other hand, would rather stay in the Summit/MVFC than take a BSC offer. Portland St, Sac St, Southern Utah, Northern Ariz, etc. They don't get UND fans blood boiling any more than Oral Roberts, IPFW, etc would, and NDSU, SDSU, and USD would be more attractive both rivalry wise and geographically than U of Mont or MSU, which are supposedly UND's new rivals. .
  24. Yes, Hard to find that combination of size, power, balance and speed in a running back. He may average 300 yards a game next year and that is with defenses selling out to stop him.
  25. For what it's worth, It sounds like there may not be an in-state recruiting war for Jahannesson from Fargo South next year. He is apparently getting some major attention from the Univ of Nebraska. I'm sure there will be more FBS interest coming.
