  1. As I said in another thread, this is the exact reason I never switched to DirecTV. Since it airs on one of their alternate channels I didn't think I could reliably count on the games being on. Turns out I was right.
  2. I did see that this morning. Apparently it was up last night since there are people talking about it in the "Media Stories" thread.
  3. Nobody is forcing them to get rid of their name. They can continue to call themselves the Sioux as long as they want. For the good of the university, though, we should stop using it as a nickname.
  4. The game is still on FCS. It's just not on DirecTV. DirecTV chooses to use FCS as filler most of the time, which is why DirecTV subscribers get to watch the game, but they don't carry the FCS channels full time like Comcast does.
  5. Six periods. 120 minutes. Win each period, win each shift, win each battle. Ok, enough cliches. Just win. By the way, for those who didn't see the Tweet, this weekends games will not be on DirecTV. DirecTV made the decision to not play it due to bandwish issues (according to Hajdu). This is one of the reasons I didn't switch to DirecTV but instead stick with Comcast which has all three FCS channels on full time.
  6. At what point will you accept that it is "the end", we've lost and that the name has to go? The rest of us have resigned ourselves to the fact that we've reached the end and it's time to move on from the nickname.
  7. Here's the law: http://und.edu/university-relations/statements-announcements/hb-1263.pdf It says nothing about logos or uniforms or anything. And I'm pretty sure most teams have already removed the logos and "Sioux" from their uniforms, with the exception of the men's hockey team, and they're not "breaking the law" by not having them on there.
  8. Why do you feel they are legally and constitutionally obligated to do these things? Just because somebody likes something doesn't mean you are required to do it. There are plenty of TV shows that I've liked that have gotten cancelled. Were the networks being unconstitutional when they cancelled them?
  9. Would a football uniform that you dislike actually "piss you off"?
  10. Who matters most right now? The correct answer is: the athletes. Since changing, or not changing, the name affects them more than anybody else, the school should do what is best for them. Since changing the name is what is best for them, the athletic department, and the school as a whole, we should changing the nickname. It's not about offending Native American's anymore. It's about what won't cause our athletic department to fail.
  11. You really always have to get the last word in, don't you? Regardless of how meaningless of a comment, or response, you've gotta say something. It can't be healthy to take everything on here so personally.
  12. Looks like AP picked up the Iowa track meet issue: http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/University-of-North-Dakota-Fighting-Sioux-not-invited-to-Iowa-track-meet-due-to-nickname-022712
  13. For those curious, I got a response from Fox Sports North regarding the Saturday game: So basically, it seems that we didn't get to watch it because somebody at Comcast didn't want to flip the switch, even though it wouldn't have interuppted any other programmer, cost them any more money or cost their subscribers any more money. Pure laziness, it appears.
  14. It doesn't surprise me one bit, but it is disappointing. It's always nice to see more programs added to the league.
  15. The world isn't quite that black-and-white. It's very possible to love the name but also love the university. Just because somebody wants the name to go doesn't mean they don't wish it could stay. It just means they'd rather not have the school and athletic department crippled by it.
  16. Pretty sure the announcer just called him "Romney".
  17. That was a dumb penalty. Looked like something Mario would do.
  18. He did, but, to sound like a 3rd grader, Blood started it.
  19. Blood got lucky there. He should have gotten booted, too, if LaLeggia did.
  20. I don't see a crosscheck there. Forbort just shoved the player. His hands were already on the DU player, he just gave him a little shove to try to push him behind the net and away from Eids. (I guess I don't know how "crosscheck" reads in the rule book, but it didn't look like one to me.) Edit: I just looked up "cross-checking" in the rule book. Something about "extending the arms with both hands on the stick". If that's the case it definitely was a crosscheck, but I've NEVER seen that called that way before. They called it because the net went flying. Once again they called the result rather than the action (Mac's hit last night)
  21. So the game's finally over....but they're interviewing players!? Really? You don't do that when you're already cutting into a different game's broadcast that was already set to Join in Progress. Very poor production by Root Sports and FCS.
  22. At least the last 60 seconds of game clock will take 10 minutes to get through.
  23. Did Denver not deserve a 5-minute on that one? Comcast sucks so I didn't get to see it.
  24. If you get FSN, you should get FSN+. It's channel 694, which, in my guide doesn't show any initials, and every 30 minutes timeslot just said "To Be Announced".
  25. That's not FSN+. That's FCSP, Fox College Sports - Pacific. One of the three channels (FCS Atlantic, FCS Central, FCS Pacific) that always shows the Sioux home games.
