Sizing up Tech's goalies, I would expect/hope the Sioux shoot the crap out of the puck this weekend. Toews ending the regular season with hatty would be a bonus. The Sioux have no reason to not sweep the Huskies back to "da Yooper". And the Sioux must sweep this weekend. /s Dr. Scott, Ph.D. in the Obvious

Sioux vs. Mich. Tech at Sensors in Bloomington
ScottM replied to Redneksioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I will be in MSP for a conference this weekend, so I may swing out there. It's been a while since I've associated with many of the Sioux faithful. -
Aside from the typo, I think this appeal was written by somebody with some high-caliber legal credentials. Perhaps this blast should be "leaked" to the media or passed to George Will, since it appears the NC$$, like a cockroach, really doesn't like too much light shown on its practices.

Interesting. I'd be interested in seeing a parking ramp full of the tractors and combines that the 'SU students drive to campus. And the occasional mule too.

A very interesting series of articles from the NY Times started running yesterday. Red Lake gets a big mention in Pt.1, and Turtle Mountain apparently has links to a Colombian cartel. Where's the NC$$ when you need 'em? NY Times

Apparently, Miami and NOLA have been granted exemptions from this rule.

I wonder if "Mississippi Queen" offends southern gays?

So, I take it "Brown Sugar" and "Cinnamon Girl" are out too ...

Pretty nice article about the GF area. NYTimes

If the Sioux are really serious about going to Milwaukee, I would rather they just go out to win every remaining game, rather than tallying sweeps, splits, worrying about what others are doing, etc. Winning takes care of alot of the "intangibles".

Muscatine Community College - The Indians no More
ScottM replied to MafiaMan's topic in UND Nickname
Looking at Muscatine's reasoning, e.g., fear of possible NC$$ sanctions similar to what Myles Brand and his band of hypersensitive misfits are struggling to articulate with a straight face to the nation, UND, Illinois, etc., I see nothing to support your erroneous premise that the Muscatine wimps thought/felt they were "wrong". Try again. -

Or just in case they never find their balls again. -
Looks like Illinois is back in the fight. Linky

I'm not entirely sure how the concept of "standing" is supposed to lend itself to cheers, watching the game, etc. Most of the goofballs who "stand" are probably too drunk and/or stupid to follow the game anyway. Probably Aviation majors ... Anyway, if you try to stand the entire game at any other venue, including NHL barns, you'll be asked to sit your ass down, or forfeit your seat.

REA is not a public building per se. Your ticket does not give a license to act like a jackass, as such you really have no "rights" on private property. Cry as many might, and do, REA can regulate the conduct of its guests as it sees fit. Rather than acting like a bunch of self-indulgent whiners, the students might exercise a degree of creativity in their chants, cheers, etc. and make a self-fulfilling student section something worth using.

While it's nice that some people are enjoying the sunshine emanating from their asses after this past weekend, we still have to travel to CC and Denver, and we will be lucky to get 4/8 points. Along the way into March, we also host UMD and Tech. Given our stellar record at home this season, we *may* break even in those series. Tough teams, good goalies, clean ice, white tape, solar flares, etc., don't make up for the fact our guys are not doing what they need to do to get even remotely close to Milwaukee.

Absolutely disgraceful.

Who would UND fans like to see to add Hockey first?
ScottM replied to bigmrg74's topic in Men's Hockey
Nobody is going to add hockey until they resolve three issues: 1. Money; 2. Fanbase/Local Support; and 3. Title IX. That said, I would rather see a school like Colorado, Penn State or Iowa State add D1 hockey, as they are already D1 schools in other sports, and have the fanbases to support a legitimate program. 'SU would be interesting, and the late Herb Brooks suggested they would be a logical choice, but I don't see Tony Lama making skates anytime soon. -
Alert PETA, immediately! Wolves are still on the endangered species list, and even if they weren't I'm sure they would be offended by this incredibly insensitive gesture.

Brilliant comeback. I'm glad to see that course in remedial logic is finally paying off for you. With your continued hard work, and diligence, I'm sure the boss will probably let you wring your own mop in the near future.

"Well written"? That drivel makes the classifieds look like Catcher in the Rye.

I never knew Wooger was also a ghost-writer for SI. Has this idiot even looked at Minnie's roster?

I agree that "The One" is very talented, but it seems like he tries to do too much by himself. I suspect it's more an issue of age/maturity, than ego. He'll probably do better with "team concept" over time, otherwise his NHL career could be bumpy.

US Pond Hockey Championships, Minneapolis, MN, 20-22 January
ScottM replied to Ranger's topic in Men's Hockey
I *believe* he's Herb Brooks' son who played at Denver.
