  1. Any news on the big announcement? Possibly that we might get into the Summit sometime in the near future? BobIwabuchiFan
  2. Anyone have ideas on how we can continue to secure Sioux Jersey's after the NCAA driven namechange next year? I would think some enterprising businessman would have a great business going forward especially since the Unversity will jerk us around for a year or so just using North Dakota until we have a PC driven nickname. BobIwabuchiFan
  3. Given the babble about some announcement, does anyone think this will be linked with the removal of the nickname or will they continue to run away from the removal of the nickname and continue discussions about the great opportunities for UND in the Summit? Also, who else has any kind of money to donate like the Engelstad family from UND??? BobIwabuchiFan
  4. I just didn't see the commitment to saving the name by Kelley and the AD that was the primary memory of Kupchella's last year. To that extent, they choose to accept this path and even pushed the rationalization of cutting the fight short by not approaching SR on the University's behalf - probably told by the SOBHE to not get involved as he was brought in to transition the University away from the tribe affiliation - which to me is the biggest racist action by the University. I agree with not giving the University any more money for the time being so they know there are ramifications for not listening to the Alumni and their half-hearted attempt at saving the name is the real reason why people won't give more now. Given time, these guys will get back to normal, but again blaming the name supporters for the reduciton in giving is illogical and ignores the 5 why conclusion its related to the poor management/fight by the UND administration. BobIwabuchiFan
  5. Feedback I have been getting from Alumni from my age group and from Alumni involved with the Alumni association are stating the donations are down for UND because of the name specifically. It seems many people are pissed with the way the whole thing was handled by SBOHE and UND administration - feel the fix was already in when Kelly was hired as the only candidate promoted for hire to SBOHE...
  6. From the report, you can see the amount of overspend that occurred at both schools with NDSU being the worse of the two...What becomes of the regular students tuition and fees at NDSU when the capital project money has been spent outside of the budget and now they need to cover their current year budget? Its easy to see how Chapman was able to increase numbers when they gave so many of the tuition waivers and now with the budget crunch how do they continue with this behavior without negatively impacting the rest of the university... BobIwabuchiFan
  7. I guess I'm still trying to understand how NDSU is going to play this...got $35 to $45 million to spend on a new sports facility, but can't even balance their budget for the academic side of the university - apparently during Hansens interview at BSU he said the accounting report is going to be bad, really bad...so how does this play out? BobIwabuchiFan
  8. Yeah, you tend to travel pretty fast down slippery slopes! Next time hopefully you have a good set of chains on the tires and maybe check the brakes before going down this path again...remember, Fargo is the largest metro market in the state and therefore should be allowed these benefits (e.g. First among equals I think is what Ol Joe would say!). BobIwabuchiFan
  9. He really can't answer this because his grand statements are limited to situations where the significant difference between spark ignition engines and electric motors is minimalized by his arguements. Again, the main purpose of the Volt is to meet the urban travel needs of the city dweller in stable temperature environments. Studies show that if they can get 40 miles on a charge it would fit the needs of urban/city car users for a very large percentage of their travel needs. Basically if you don't live in a big city and don't want to be like our bison troll then you are an abomination and should have your license taken away. Note that spark ignition engines are capable of meeting the driving needs of a larger portion of the population and the varied driving environments and needs of the customer. Hence, electric motor will most likely never meet the full range of capability and use of the spark ignition engine even in the next 20 years. BobIwabuchiFan
  10. Jesus, with the repeated beat down you give this clown its amazing he doesn't quit...Sheez, just give it 20 years! BobIwabuchiFan
  11. Dude, The fix was in when they got the NCAA to remove our racist designation - thats all the politicians wanted so they could protect their reputations. None of these guys give a crap about the nickname nor are they willing to enforce the will of the people. Its just like Healthcare...60% or more are against the bill and the politicians still think they know what is better for us. Same goes for the nickname...67% of Spirit Lake nation vote to keep it, but the politicians and the Herald editor Mike Jacobs know whats better for us than we do.... BobIwabuchiFan
  12. I hope you aren't waiting for a response from the mplstroll...he's still looking for patches to fix his girlfriend! BobIwabuchiFan
  13. Yeah, I was at that really small niche market game of college hockey between UND and UMD. All we could muster was around 15k people come watch this insiginficant sporting event outside the massive titan of sports college basketball and the summit league. I was disappointed as well that there wasn't more people to fill the 20k capacity of the Excel Energy center. I am assuming they held the Summit championship at the Corn Palace in Mitchell? I suppose tonight won't get any better with the fan count considering we are going to play a small market team from Denver, Colorado. I would be surprised if they are even showing these hockey games on TV considering the first round of the Big Dance games between powerhouses like St. Mary's of California and Richmond. I guess we'll just have to be happy with 75 to 80k people showing up for 3 days of a niche sporting tournament. Go Sioux! BobIwabuchiFan
  14. Pure poetry...I can hear the hissing sound of his girlfriends deflation right now! BobIwabuchiFan
  15. I've watched the Frattin hit about 12 times and I notice that his feet only leave the ice after the hit is made...kinda of like riding up on wehr when he made the hit...wehr slide low whilst he moved up....I don't see him launching off of his skates prior to the hit. I would ask everyone to slow down the hit right before contact and you can see his feet are solidly on the ground. My 2 cents... BobIwabuchiFan
  16. Blackheart and et all, mplsbuffalo is a clown...most likely some 12 year whose Dad when to the NDSAS. Anyone who has a hard time from UND or NDSU understanding the popularity of the Fighting Sioux Hockey team only has to go back to the Sports Illustrated specials identifying the key sports in each state and by an overwhelming majority your Fighting Sioux Hockey Team was voted the most popular team in ND - you don't have to take my word, just read what Sports Illustrated had to say. I'm sure we will find out from the Herd troll there was some mis-print or if it was taken today with the meteor-like rise of the watantanka team in Fargo they would run away with the local popularity contest. Additionally, I have nothing against basketball or volleyball or baseball or soccer, but they don't even compete with hockey in the state of North Dakota when it comes to Division I sports...Period. Lastly, I can't see the need for denying the NA tribes the opportunity to have the final say on the nickname just so we can get into an athletic conference that is most likely one of the weakest in the country. It would be so un-North Dakotan to worry about what a bunch of panty wastes have to say and disrespect the important say of the human beings who inhabited this land before we showed up. Like I have said before, if the tribes do not want this exposure or the use of the name then I will happily give it, but I'll be damned if I will let a group of politicians and bureacrats determine the final solution because it is expedient to their ambitions to be included in some mediocre league that just happens to include our little sisters south on I29. So, Gary (mplsbuffalo) keep combing your hair in your room and lets the adults speak.... BobIwabuchiFan
  17. Game Notes - Nice to tailgate at home... - Defense and Offense continues to bland - Defense gets little to no penetration on teams with big o-lines - If USD didn't drop 3-4 passes in the game, I believe it would have been a closer game. - 3rd quarter was awesome until we puked in the last 3 minutes with stupid mistakes and not throwing the ball away - Wish we could commit more to the I formation and let the RBs beat some D lines down a bit, but pretty good RB game for the Sioux - Saw the Bison lost at home to a no name conference opponent...Wow, they are eating their own kids at Bisonville...Guys actually calling it quits for watching the herd terds for the rest of the year...Man up and get a pair! Hockey starts tomorrow baby!!!! God Bless the Fighting Sioux!!!!
  18. Maybe, just maybe if you take the blinders off and look at what people on the reservations are probably responding to it most likely has nothing to do with the nickname and everything to do with how the current councils are treating their people. By not listening to the voice of the people and lecturing them on their motives, they are not performing their duties as a representatives of the people. Maybe, just maybe if you put yourself in the shoes of the people on your reservation who feel the nickname and the process in which the tribe originally granted the name is sacred and part of their beloved history, then you could understand the behaviors they are exhibiting by rejecting Ron His Horse is Thunder's outright disdain for the name and ultimately for his own constituents for which he labels as traitors or ignorant masses sucked in by the majority culture. I think Ron needs to have some humility and a quick lesson on how Pride comes before the fall. I also think that the reservations benefit more from leaders who can disagree without becoming disagreeable and also understand that we all work together and sometimes compromises are made and sometimes they benefit everyone as well. I I also believe that we need some new perspectives from the tribal councils that reflect more on respecting people and their differences as opposed to dictating what it means to be NA and rejecting everything that is not NA as racist or with hidden agendas to destroy the NA culture. 19. To all, The fix was in and now we will feel the sting! I once again feel cheated and betrayed by the board of higher ed and the UND administration. I plan on calling the Alumni office and telling them to cancel my Alumni newsletter for at least 15 years and then maybe I will give another thought about supporting the University. I will also tell them whatever future name you choose for the school that you have lost the right to use Fighting in it because they gave up the fight today and from this point on they are a bunch of quitters! All I can hope for is the law of unintended consequences comes into play and provide some Karma to the rest of the naysayers! BobIwabuchiFan
  20. Does anyone know how to get tickets for the Game as a UND Fan? BobIwabuchiFan
  21. What's your problem with letting this issue run its course? I'm sorry, but I really don't give a damn if your beloved Summit conference is in waiting or will somehow leave us out...I really don't care and personally I beginning to think most people on this board don't really care about your opinion on the Sioux name either because your desire to have us named something else is very transparent and somewhat juvenile! Good luck with your starting QB this year champ...Maybe spend some time on Bisonville playing devils advocate on that concern and see how it goes with your own. BobIwabuchiFan
  22. Good Times...Yeah, kinda of reminds me of the time I was in Sconi watching the Sioux put the wood to their goalie Valley and the score comes over the speaker that Minnesota is losing and you see everyone jump up and cheer while Sioux and Badger fans are high fiving each other...Good times!! BobIwabuchiFan
  23. To each his own, but I'd rather play the Texas Techs and potentially more Big 12/PAC 10 teams than I would the Big 10 teams...Sure its an easy drive for B-10, but the talent that comes from B-12/P-10 region of the country is much better than what we could potentially get from the second helpings from every BCS school in the upper mid-west (Pure Population numbers would show that for Texas and California alone). In addition, whats wrong with our team in Grand Forks taking a different tack - why do we have to follow the Bison in anything; take back the leadership role we've had for the last 120 years and act like the main institution. You don't do this by following them to their respective leagues....Also, why doesn't the Red Raiders have a problem with our logo and nickname? Why the are the B-10 schools make this such a 'big' problem than our friends in the south and west? Sounds a little snobbish to me if you ask.... BobIwabuchiFan
  24. No wonder DaveK is against fighting in hockey...his beloved fargo softies get their butt kicked everytime by the Big Red Machine!
  25. I'm sorry, but suspending someone for 2 games is no punishment at all....Jesus, does the kid have to show up with 10 grams of coke before he's kicked off the team? And before the excuse makers start piling on, we are not talking about drinking alcohol, but using an illegal substance regardless of the age of the user! Sound harsh? Not really when you compare it to the actions of people who are caught using weed during work related drug tests - they get fired! Period! Not 2 days suspended pay and then come back... Lastly, please understand that I'm not asking for the kid to be crucified, but something along the lines of kicked off the football team with possibility of re-instatement in one year if he drug tests clean would be an option versus a 2 game suspension at the start of the year! BobIwabuchiFan PS I think you will do better with Merten's this year anyway.....
