You think a couple thousand locals would show to offset the couple thousand that live in mn that would refuse to travel a couple hours to Sioux falls?
-
Now you are putting words intoy mouth. Nchc has asked for feedback and I've given mine and let my experience known on here as well. It's my opinion the nchc should consider pulling the tourney from the target center. Will it happen any time soon? Probably not but I can only dream!
-
To me, witnessing people almost get trampled because of piss poor planning on the target center's end is unforgiveable. It happened and was very close to becoming a disaster. It wasn't the target center that stopped the escalators from continuing to go down. It was frantic panicking fans that found the buttons. I wouldn't want to bring my child to this place after witnessing that. I didn't notice the ice getting any better on Saturday, though I wasn't on the ice. I was in my seat and witnessed many lost edges on crap ice on Saturday night as well. Think there could have been a reason und players were doing a lot of coasting? Not asking the businesses to kiss anyone's ass. I just miss what is fans had in St. Paul and I think many fans miss that. I know there are tons of other businesses to check out....the few I did though acted like they'd rather not have our business.
-
No need for a pat on the back. Just miss what we once had in St. Paul. The only reason there was an increase of fans this year was because of the St. Cloud fans that weren't there last year.
-
It is an assumption but when you witness people almost getting trampled after the Friday afternoon game maybe it just left a really bad taste in my mouth. This one is on the target center for the way they setup their re-entry policy and it could have been really bad. The boards/glass/ice hasn't changed from last year. And the support from surrounding businesses hasn't changed from last year. This one is out of the nchc's and tc's hands and likely will not change.

If tickets were sold in advance would it matter whether uno made it or not? Uno's attendance has been down but if this was marketed the right way Id think the nchc could get close to selling the tourney out in advance of it was at the century link. Just between und and uno fans. Sioux falls may not be too far fetched either. Personally I'm sick of the target center. Get to the xcel and its a whole nother story. Bad ice, boards, glass, lack of involvement from area businesses, lack of professionalism from the target center staff, and so on. I know it's about the product on the ice but add everything up and people will no longer get excited about the frozen faceoff.
-
You say it's guaranteed to have less people based on assumptions. It is definitely worth exploring. I believe the und/uno series in omaha this year drew close to 11,000 fans per game and attendance is down in omaha this year. The century link center in Omaha is off campus and would be another option. Id bet there would be more than 11,000 tickets per day sold there. Another poster said he is frustrated by the lack of appreciation given by the target center and twin cities and I've spoken with a number of folks with the same feelings. You can bet that und fan attendance will be dropping at next year's frozen faceoff. Making a proactive change could turn this around.

I'm not sold that und fans from the tc wouldn't make it to Sioux falls. The current attendance is brutal the way it is. 11,000 per day? Not numbers the conference should be bragging about. The Friday night game had maybe 3000 fans. Third place game maybe 7000 and championship game maybe 6000. Year one was even a bigger flop. You've got to think the nchc should be brainstorming as to what changes need to be made because the way things have been the past two years are not working.

Anything would be an improvement over minneapolis to me. Maybe it was just the places I went to before and after the games but food/drink establishments were not staffed or ready for the people they had trough there. Specifically sneaky Petes, 508, and pour house. Good luck eating before any games! The target center has shown they are incapable of hosting the event. If my buddy hadnt shut the escalator off after the Friday afternoon game I'm positive people would have been trampled trying to get out with the wrist band debacle.
-
Coming from grand forks Id prefer it. Sioux fans in minneapolis may not make the trip. But then again plenty of Sioux fans traveled to omaha....so why not Sioux Falls for the frozen faceoff? I'm to the point where I don't plan on going to the target center next year. If it was in Sioux Falls Id seriously consider going. It's just my opinion but the target center and downtown Minneapolis are ruining the conference tournament that und plays in.

Anyone have a link to the dakota chant? I'm trying to figure out what it is. It's not fight on Sioux is it? Silly administration would limit what they play.
-
Maybe with hopes of a Sioux gopher matchup and with the limited number of seats I could see tickets sold at this price. But come on people! This is quinnipiac, St. Cloud, and Michigan tech! I wouldn't pay much above face value myself.
-
$350 for the weekend per person. $175 per person to watch und play quinnipiac. Another $175 to watch them play St. Cloud(based on the last time they played their performance was worth less than $10 to most) or Michigan tech(most Sioux fans rarely got excited for this matchup). If und loses to the Bobcats thats $350 per person for the one game. Who the hell is paying this type of money?
-
Thanks for the link. Filled it out with my experience. Maybe this has already been said but did anyone notice how slow und seemed compared to every other team in the frozen faceoff? Every team had players losing their edge on the bad ice including und. Any chance Hak instructed his team to just slow down and not get hurt?
-
I thought the Miami band was great! Except they didn't play game of thrones:(
-
Haha. Glad he covered the most important thing fans need to know!

Spot on on the wristbands. On Saturday I saw people grabbing 8 of them. On Friday they had a potential major safety issue of their hands. The staff this year was much improved as well. Out sections usher was extremely friendly.

The pulled pork stuffed in an ice cream cone topped with cole slaw was good! Ice cream selection was poor!

It's just not the same anymore. This year Und didn't have much to play for. They played un interested. No other fan base sends many fans. St. Cloud had maybe 1000 fans there. The luster is gone. The group I go with has always attended all of the games at the final 5. Now they show up late to the Sioux games. I have a little one on the way this year and have already told myself I won't be taking the time and money to go to next year's frozen face off. If I didn't have a little one on the way, I'm not even so sure Id go next year.

Link isn't working from my iPhone.

At least the ushers weren't nazis today. But if this tourney somehow was sold out.....after the Sioux game woulda been a disaster and people would have gotten hurt. It coulda gotten really bad the way they couldn't get the fans out of the building because they were putting wristbands on every fans hand one at a time.

Fans leaving after the Sioux game almost got trampled upon getting down escalator. My buddy had to hit the shutoff button. We want x back chant ensued. This place is a mess.
