  1. Would have liked to see a little more adventurous play call on third down that close. But we're on the board.
  2. I think for the type of person that would take advantage of this the answer is very likely yes. Giving up your summers as a college student is a serious sacrifice so i think only a really motivates student would do it. If you arent planning to pursue an advanced degree dont see why a student athlete would graduatr before exhausting theor eligibility. A question would be how scholarships work. If they cover these summer semesters that should in theory bump up you cost by roughly 1.5 times. Where does that money come from. It does open up some interestingly scenarios for grad transfers for sure.
  3. Special game sites id like to see Nashville Sprint Center Kansas City Staples Center around New Years. That would be a good NCHC showcase game with Arizona State as the opponent. The West Coast equivalent of MSG with tons to do. Lake Placid vs Clarkson or St. Lawrence
  4. The big sky teams can still play them non conference and Sac st. Is still in the league. They may also see the possibility of a Montana Idaho departure and see this as a way to head that off. Keeping both conferences geographically compact makes sense until/if an FBS move ever happens.
  5. The Summit should be working with the Big Sky. Hopefully UNC is facilitating such discussions. For now take on UNC and the two California football affiliates. That gets the Big Sky down to 10 teams which makes scheduling easier for all sports and means only missing one team a season for football. It also puts Summit back to 10 schools for all sports and 8 for football. It also leaves a stable core of former NCC schools (plus Denver) should Western Illinois Fort Wayne and Oral Roberts depart. If that happens then grab UMKC for an eight team league based along I29 plus the Colorado schools. That would have a stable Summit and a stable Big Sky and the leagues could add a scheduling alliance to help fill nonconference games.
  6. Summit should see about bringing on the two Cali schools as affiliates for football. Would get the Sky down to 11 for football (play 8 of 10 opponents each season) and the sky teams could play non cons with Davis and Poly rather than having nonconference games against conference teams. Could allow some time for Sky to get a viable 12th team and open door to some teams leaving for Great North in a few years. At that point the Cali teams could return as affiliates to a downsized Big Sky.
  7. Wonder if them hiring Pat Sweeney might have them angling for something.
  8. Sounds like a potential decathlete.
  9. Or more importantly the Wisconsin fans. Far more atmosphere creating than Gopher fans. The cratering of their program hasn't helped the dismal showings at the Big Ten tourney.
  10. I've not had that problem with MLB.tv, watch ESPN or NBC Sports apps. NCHC is a noticeable lag.
  11. Download with YouTube downloader and you have it forever.
  12. Definitely apples and oranges. Calling student fees revenue is dubious. All these numbers are doctored to tell whatever story someone wants told.
  13. I'd say this shows if you are going to up funding anywhere it's basketball and that FCS football is nearly the money pit that women's hockey is.
  14. Not sure I've seen it anywhere but Clay Matvick is doing the games in Fargo so that's cool.
  15. I think this is definitely worth exploring. One downside would be access for the 2 eastern schools but I think it's a solid idea for an occasional tournament and I think the community might embrace it in ways the larger cities dont.
  16. I don't know that it needs to be married to a single facility. Even the X is only really travel convenient for 3 of the 8 league schools, so attendance is going to be a challenge. The nchc could do like the ACC basketball tournament and have a primary site but also move around once in a while. Maybe every third or fourth year try the Pepsi Center or Cincinnati or maybe even Kansas City. Throw a bone to some of the schools that aren't in the Twin Cities' backyard. I'd like to see the league really embrace the N in NCHC. Playing the league tournament solely in MSP may be a parochial approach and does little to develop or grow the game. There is creativity in the league office as evidenced by the college hockey showdown. I think they will come up with a good solution.
  17. Sad thing is chalk works perfect but they won't do it. Denver bracket in Cincy UMD bracket in Fargo Harvard in Manchester Minnesota in Providence This avoids the unearned Providence home games but still has some close proximity teams in every regional so attendance should be reasonable.
  18. Didn't say it would be easy just that I'd like to see it. Although we are now a tourney team and as for recognition we are at least a flagship and not a directional or oddball private.
  19. If UND ever plays North Carolina I will be there an nothing could stop me. Finally made it to the Dean Dome and it was a great experience.
  20. Or Minnesota and the Michigan schools. Could have gotten two Atlantic Hockey schools in.
  21. I would, although I'd prefer an ACC game as well.
