I haven't. But I've been to Oxford and it's a great trip. Regardless, I think Mankato is happy where they're at, and has CC and MIami as cautionary tales. And even if Miami left, I'd much rather take ASU to add national profile.

Mankato has a good thing going in the (W)CCHA. Why change what's working?
-
St. Thomas was team #8. They are at the ideal number.
-
That doesn't hurt.

St. Cloud for me. Iron shapens Iron, and a title gives the program an extra legitimacy much like Duluth got 10 years ago. Just makes the crucible that is the NCHC that much better.
-
Correct. UND is the last independent to take the title. Also joined by Michigan, Michigan St., Denver, UMD, BU and RPI as only schools to win titles representing different leagues.

2021-22 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Brothers Buzz and Prince Johnson were from Webster SD and two of the programs earliest stars. Both played for Team USA in the 1949 World Championships and Buzz was the first ever UND All American along with Dan McKinnon in the 49-50 season. -
NCAAs are very much cyclical. UND is the only school to win titles in 6 decades, a remarkable model of consistency. Since our first title, the longest drought we have ever had is 17 years. UND has also won its 8 titles with 5 different coaches, so the program has shown the ability to sustain under different leadership. Other big programs Michigan Most titles (9), but majority are ancient. Program was stuck on 7 for 32 years, then returned to take 2 of 3, and is now in 23 year drought. Denver Among its 8 titles are multiple repeats, the one accomplishment UND lacks. Team of the 60s with four titles, but then a 35 year drought where Program also rarely challenged in the WCHA Wisconsin Big game hunters with 6 NCAAs, but stunningly only picked up 3 McNaughton Cups. Went 16 years between titles 5 and 6 and now in identical drought. Minnesota Wins NCAAs in clusters with a a repeat and 3 in 6 under Herb Brooks on their ledger. Went 26 years before first title, a 23 year drought between 3 and 4 and now at 18 and counting. Boston U Along with their city rivals, the kings of the East. Took 24 years to win first of 5 titles. After leading the 70s with 3 wins, took 17 years to get title 4, 14 more to get title 5, and now 12 and counting. Have also made only 2 Frozen Four appearances since 1997. Boston College Won second ever NCAA tournament in 1949. Heard Ranger style chants of "1949" from opposing fans for more than a half century until finally grabbing title number 2 on an ill-fated night in Albany. Then grabbed 3 titles in 5 years from 2008 to 2012. Now nearly a decade removed from a title. Building and sustaining a program is what you want as a fan. No one really comes close to North Dakota in that regard. Another NCAA title will happen, it's when not if. But if you can't also enjoy the Penroses and Frozen Face-offs what's the point.

2021-22 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Move up Matt Greene from the blue line. -
This could be a huge boon to teams that face a lot of early departures. Pluck a few of the right guys and you still have experience but it doesn't clog long term development of incoming guys and you don't have to overuse freshies who aren't ready.
-
Maybe it's time to add an off day in the regionals. Would ease the congestion and perhaps help tv coverage. Also a safety issue with OT games. Imagine if the 5OT game had only been a semi.
-
The 01 loss to BC that prevented our first ever repeat is my most painful. Made the trip to Albany and after the incredible third period comeback thought we had all the momentum and no way we would lose in OT. Wasn't meant to be. 05 loss to Denver was right there too.
-
Looks like the WCHA lives on for at least 11 more days. UMass intruding on the Northern Sun Frozen Four.
-
No. Just need to play non conference games. No need to add extra mouths to feed. 8 teams is prefect.
-
They also come in with a little unfinished business as well remembering their last meeting.
-
Let's put the blame squarely where it belongs, Michigan. Seriously, tough loss but so are all of them that end promising seasons. Just glad to always be in the mix. Easy to take that for granted.
-
Fun fact: All 5 tourney games tomorrow will include a team for Minnesota. I predict MnSCU goes 3-0, U system 0-2.
-
Love it, but be sure to save a couple for tomorrow night.

Where's the on ice graphic for Weatherby

Must have had real tight protocols at the Big Ten tournament. What a joke! Glad the NCHC is a top notch forward-thinking organization.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/business/energy-and-mining/6954045-Potential-new-owner-in-talks-to-save-North-Dakotas-largest-coal-fired-plant So anyone have any guesses on who might be buying Coal Creek? Would think there might be some potential for the EERC to collaborate in this sphere and put North Dakota at the forefront. If they really can develop some meaningful Carbon sequestration technologies, that could be a game changer in the climate battle. Would be a huge market in India and China, where coal power plants generate a considerable amount of power.

Actually, Oregon destroyed Iowa, so it didn't hurt. Will be interesting if BC comes out a little rusty, it will be almost 2 weeks they will have been off.

And of course March Madness.
