  1. Maybe the lack of offer from them speaks volumes.
  2. It went very well. We won. Survive, win and advance from here on out. Only 8 teams left everyone has everyone's tendencies figured out by now...especially if you've shown everything you got in your arsenal. EDIT: I do understand what you are saying.
  3. It's a form of the "grass is always greener" syndrome. I get it but let's keep things in perspective. The MSU game was well in hand by halftime. Bubba being Bubba chose to run the clock, and with an increasing number of back-ups and youth seeing their first action ever (Lotyz... wish him the best). We were not trying to add to the boat race in the second half. Win, advance and move on. Period. I assume that is what is behind the relatively close JMU-VMI final score. VMI closed the gap in garbage time. All that said, I too wanted Quincy in a little sooner. He could use some reps, and he brings a fun dynamic!
  4. "Jaxon on the bottom of your screen as he's iso'ed in. Pay attention to him." -- ESPN color guy at just the right time before Turner executes a flawless twist move through the middle for the sack -- UND's 7th of the opening half. ESPN color guy does his best Tony Romo impression and foreshadows what's about to come down on Struck, with about 25 second to go in the first half.
  5. He did earlier in the year, before the first scheduled game, which was cancelled. Bear’s beat writer Wyatt Wheeler retweeted it with comment this past week. Struck has since deleted said tweet.
  6. I think you may be downgrading Tommy’s skill sets (physical and mental) a tad, and upgrading Quincy’s a hair, at this stage. It’s a common tendency. We’ll most likely see it next fall when Tommy/Quincy are not slicing and dicing Opp defenses and Trey is riding the pine still learning the playbook. It’s easy to wish for the unknown commodity versus the product on the field, which is giving actual criticizable performances (good and bad) with every snap.
  7. Yes and the Alerus PA guy was urging us to make some noise on third downs and there were fireworks for us too. Bottom line as we’ve been saying your gripes are for NCAA directed things not UND Athletics.
  8. I was at the game. A recording was played of the school songs of both schools.
  9. They practically all do. It was the NCAA’s show.
  10. That worked out well for former QB recruit Cedric Chase who was a Bobcat for a short stint before landing at one of the directional Dll schools in Missouri. Suffice it to say I’m happy with Tommy as a consolation prize.
  11. Excited for the other young OL dudes to get their quality reps.
  12. I like reading other team's beat writers assessments of us. https://www.news-leader.com/sports/ Pretty good write-up today in the Springfield paper, though I was surprised at this part. After watching the Bears against Youngstown, I had the opposite impression: UND's defense has been average Missouri State's biggest advantage heading into Saturday is that it will have the better defense on the field. It's just a matter of if it can slow down one of the better offenses in the nation and if the Bears' improving offense can take advantage. North Dakota has a defense that has been in the middle of the pack among FCS teams all season. The Fighting Hawks allow 20.6 points and 374.8 yards per game. Their worst game was their most recent game when they allowed 34 points to North Dakota State when it allowed 316 rushing yards and 456 total. UND has struggled to get off the field on third down while allowing teams to convert on 42.9 percent of third-down conversions. Its red zone defense ranks 89th out of 91 FCS teams with a conversion percentage of 92.9. Petrino anticipates North Dakota trying to blitz a lot. The Fighting Hawks have 14 sacks this season. "We're going to have to handle their defensive pressure," Petrino said. "More than anyone else that we've played all year long."
  13. Good assessment. Fast for FCS but needs to take the oven mitts off.
  14. Does that mean Golladay is still ours? Dude is gonna breakout this year in the Big Apple if injuries don't hamper him.
  15. Totally agree. My upside comment is about his future potential, not the here and now. Got to play the players you got, obviously... and it appears one of our now former linemen's mind was elsewhere anyway.
  16. Easton Kilty is 6-5 300#, according to roster vs. Hergel who is 6-2, 300#. I am not sure what the updated weights would be since the roster info is old.
  17. This might be me just assuaging myself due to the loss, because Hergel was an absolute mauler with a lower center of gravity, BUT I actually like Lavelle's upside (don't know about his intangibles yet) better. And nice to get him some playoff reps before next fall. EDIT: Looks like Bubba is eyeing Kilty, per Tom Miller.
  18. I hope they're rusty like they were against SIU to start off the year!
  19. Not sure about Brockstar but are we thinking it’s Kaupinen for Canady?
  20. A bit of a diversion here: Is it just me or does anyone else notice a lack of build-up for the big "rivalry" game this weekend down south. Not even a hint of friendly smack outside the message board crowds of the two schools? Nowhere near the banter and media focus (Forum Comm) that was taking place in the days prior to March 20 -- even in a pandemic-impacted season. As an outsider looking in, it just doesn't have the vibe of a true rivalry game yet. I've heard it lacks the sheer hatred of typical rivalries (Yanks/Sox, Cards/Cubs, Giants/Cowboys, UND-NDSU of old, etc.) because the two programs have such great respect for each other. IALTO. But IMHO you can have both hatred and respect. The Marker Game just seems "meh" to me, at this point. That's my hot take. Take it or leave it.
  21. Can anyone tell if that is Canady wearing #25 in this week's report from KVRR Fox in in Fargo? Or is it old footage from earlier in the year? If it's him, he's in better shape than I had been led to believe. https://www.kvrr.com/2021/04/12/und-football-sees-positives-in-covid-layoff-as-team-returns-to-game-action/
