  1. Probably a possible replacement for Gornall. We have had many guys that were not highly sought after that were heart and soul guys like Pattyn, Gaarder, Sanderson, Kaip, etc. The question for me going forward is will we be losing speed with some of these bigger players in a time where penalties drawn by speed are frequent. With Weatherby, Mattson, Costello, Kunz, and Caulfield, we should be able to grind it out, but do we lose on the speed end. Not saying you can't be big and a good skater, but typically they don't get up and down the ice like a Dixon Bowen.
  2. So, now are we a bad team, based on the results of one weekend? Maybe Union is a little better than you thought they were too.
  3. Think the players thought the same thing! Didn't someone say that against Anchorage in October as well? Bottom line is you can get beat by any team period! I think their coach said the same thing last year as ours did this year, they weren't ready to play.
  4. https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2017/10/25_Culture-Trumps-Everything.php I'm a big believer in culture as well. In sports, many times there isn't a lot that separates teams from each other. It is the programs where everybody buys in and has a work ethic that seem to always be in the mix.
  5. Just want to hear an explanation from the league what happened with the disallowed goal, being that there are two different explanations given, depending on who you talk to.
  6. If anything, they haven't been hard enough on the players. There is no excuse for the lack of discipline that some of these players have exhibited.
  7. When did you see them play? People could have watched UND against a few teams and said the same thing. This series is huge for both teams, and if UND underestimates that this could either make or break Union, they could be in for a surprise. Their coach wasn't happy with how they weren't ready to play at UND's intensity level last year without Jost and Boeser, which really boosted our pairwise at the time. I am certain they will want to return the favor. Need to make sure the young guys that have been instrumental in our season so far, continue to play at a high level in huge pairwise game's like this.
  8. I actually like that Berry talks about what they need to do going forward from here, as it doesn't allow the players to use it as an excuse, no matter how extreme. Of course he didn't like a lot of the calls, but players will have to adjust to bad officiating in the future, so it is a learning opportunity, and hopefully it doesn't get that bad again.
  9. Yes I believe Motzko speaking out about that was included in his reprimand from the league. How about hearing about reprimands for officials. Not enough of that, which leads to the arrogance where they are looking for confrontation with players and coaches, but that is Don Adam in a nutshell, no accountability.
  10. The scary part to me is that they would generally want to get the best officials to do a #1 versus a #3 contest. Heaven help the NCHC if that is the case. Just like at the regional last year, Berry took the high road by not blowing up. You can bet if the roles were reversed, Monty would have come unglued!. Time for Schlossman to do a little research and see if UND has ever had 27 minutes to 2 minute advantage on power plays or similar.
  11. Well when a linesman called a five minute major on Minnesota years back, causing them to lose, Greg Shepherd suspended him. How can officials that are usually regional effect that kind of situation. Sounds like getting homered to me.
  12. Berry said he was told the linesman was the one who called it no goal, first time he's ever heard of that.
  13. Does it surprise you that guys like Todd Anderson and Brad Shepherd want to confront players and coaches instead of just officiating? After all, the king of confrontation, Don Adam is the one instructing these clowns. Way to ruin a good hockey matchup by the officials choosing to be the center of attention, and that goes for last night with the linesman.
  14. They say that a team takes on the personality of their coach. If so, I can see where the arrogance comes from. I get the impression from the Championship game last year that it is all about Monty, and how dare they embarrass him as a coach last night. Coach Berry is right when he says, even though they are always competing against each other for top recruits, the differences in the philosophies is night and day.
  15. Massimo Rizzo with 5 assists tonight for Penticton.
  16. Can you imagine this board if UND gave up a 3 and 4 goal lead on back to back nights like Minnesota did last week?
  17. Funny to watch the meltdown of people time and time again year in and year out and how they change their whole outlook within the context of a single game. It goes the opposite way as well, thinking they can't lose and many times these are the same people. Glad the players don't get too high or too low as much as the fans. If one of our All time teams can get swept in Denver a couple years ago, why is it one bad period pushes people over the edge?
  18. If they indeed do get Cruikshank, I would imagine he would be here next year.
  19. Would be excited about the addition of these two. Cruikshank put up similar numbers to Nick Jones last year at Penticton. In 57 games he had 32 goals, 21 assists compared to Jones, who had 25 goals, 37 assists in 58 games.
  20. Since Denver has skilled, patient scorers, if Thome is flopping all over, the puck will more than likely end up in the back of the net. Hopefully he is positionally sound and doesn't give the puck away trying to puck handle or clear the zone.
  21. You would think that it would be a short stint for conditioning, otherwise it just makes Joe Sakic and company look like they care more about Canada's lot for the World Juniors.
  22. I laugh at his talk about all the misinformation that is still going around. Of course his reporting was very objective.
  23. John W. hasn't figured out the maturing part yet, being a 70 year old that hangs out in his basement and lives to troll.
  24. Despite playing fewer games than most, Cruikshank is the leading goal scorer for Penticton, a team loaded with over half the team committed to colleges. He should be a very good pickup for somebody.
  25. Just wondering, as it seems some get their hands so close to the blade, then practically get down on their knees to get down so low. Figured it would be hard to do when tall, but I suppose they might do that because they are operating from a disadvantage and that is the only way they can compensate. So many different strategies, just really interesting to observe that little game within a game.
