  1. Olson has played some of his best hockey against St. Cloud. Two goals in St. Cloud his freshman year, and a goal and an assist against them in the NCHC quarterfinals in which he scored the overtime winner.
  2. Gotcha. That certainly eliminates a lot of extra viewing.
  3. Agree, that is the only way it can be done, but they will still be reviewing something they say is unreviewable. I would say in that circumstance where a challenge is made that isn't offside and possession had also changed hands, the team asking for the challenge should get a penalty along with losing their timeout. That way if a coach thinks it is offside from the outset, they should also be tracking whether their team gained possession, lest they get a penalty for being wrong on both counts.
  4. They aren't going to know a goal is coming, therefore they have to check possession after every zone entry.
  5. So are we to believe that the officials are checking for possession every single zone entry? If they say it isn't reviewable if possession had been gained, then they must predetermine if there was possession, otherwise they would be reviewing something that isn't supposed to be reviewed. These guys can't get a basic call right, how do we expect them to keep track of possession every single zone entry?
  6. It comes in last in every sport for players that see themselves moving to the next level.
  7. I was just wondering about the process of determining whether a team gains possession or not. Unless they have someone tracking that, it could be a long delay to determine that. Don't trust the memory of the officials either way.
  8. So many of us, me included, have preconceived notions on who is going to make an immediate impact on the team from year to year. We were all talking Kawaguchi and Mismash, but few were touting Nick Jones. The fact that he is one that has received rave reviews goes to show that getting high end talent doesn't always mean production, especially if they don't stay long. This isn't just something unique to this year either. How many times have we been surprised by guys hardly talked about while we lament the lack of production of those with high expectations. While Josh Reiger isn't putting up the numbers, I am sure many of us are pleasantly surprised by what he brings to the team.
  9. With Andy Murray challenging a call in Friday's game for offsides, I was wondering how that would have played out had it not been clearly onside. If they would have found it to be offsides at the line instead, would they then have to run through all of the zone time footage to determine if Western had taken possession at any point? Seems like that could make for some long drawn out reviews if play goes on for a while. Perhaps on any close play at the line, the linesmen are tasked with tracking possession, but there again you have some subjectivity on what is possession. I would hope it isn't incumbent on the coach that has a goal overruled for being offside to challenge the possession end of it. Just made me curious, as I was thinking we might have had a long delay after the review on Friday.
  10. Zane McIntyre and Cam Johnson from the Force have done the job pretty well!
  11. You never know what is going to influence a player's decision. Could be his current coach (Jon Ammerman who went to St. Cloud) ; current teammate going somewhere (Ethan Frisch going here); how he was treated by future teammates on his visit; what style a team plays that fit your attributes; when you want to come in and when they have an opening for you; how you like the coaching staff; how you like the facilities; and here is something, how you like the school and how it fits your academic aspirations. I wouldn't pretend to know what is important to a recruit unless I knew them personally. I do know when you look at a combination of everything, UND has an awful lot to offer.
  12. How much longer?
  13. Jacob Bernard-Docker had a goal and 4 assists last night for Okotoks.
  14. Remember when he said they should just make a call and go with it like the NHL. He said they don't listen to arguments in the NHL, yet all he does now is complain. Seems like it has rubbed off on some of his players as well.
  15. The officials in the league appear adept at fundraising for a good cause as Adam congratulated them for, but they are inept at what they are getting paid for, and Adam sits and does nothing. Several very dangerous penalties that weren't called, then calls are made for the exact same thing. Can you imagine if Western still had to play in Denver how many minutes they would be shorthanded?
  16. Yeah, I see now that your earlier post about him being followed was a North Dakota account, not Berry himself. Crossing my fingers.
  17. On GPL they are saying Berry isn't following Randklev on Twitter. I'm assuming he must have been. I would think that we may have lost out on him to St. Cloud, which would be disappointing. Anyone have info to the contrary?
  18. No doubt. When guys like Gersich and Yon crossover from the dark side, I wouldn't say anybody should be off the table. When you have multiple people in the NHL and former players here saying UND is run with a professional type atmosphere, any high end recruit would be crazy not to at least explore the program. Let's also remember, not all Minnesota alumni are enthralled with Lucia's stamp on the program now, although Mike Guentzel has a lot of pull with some of those same alumni.
  19. Yes. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=12125
  20. I believe his dad Craig played for the Gophers.
  21. Schlossman said that Randklev is visiting today. Would guess he either has games this weekend, or Berry doesn't want to take a chance on waiting until the weekend. Don't let him leave campus without a commitment.
  22. Agree, he is a spark plug. When someone goes out and works that hard shift in and shift out, the others better be working too, or it stands out all the more.
  23. The one thing I have noticed about the USHL is how close the scoring race is all the way through. With a couple good games on a weekend, you could move up from the third page on the league leaders to potentially the top ten. I also noticed that most of the players on the first page have really made their mark on the power play. With everything being so tight in that league, it is really hard to know who is going to make the step at the next level. Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup from Fargo, who is committed to Maine sure seems to be a consistent scorer though.
  24. Probably a possible replacement for Gornall. We have had many guys that were not highly sought after that were heart and soul guys like Pattyn, Gaarder, Sanderson, Kaip, etc. The question for me going forward is will we be losing speed with some of these bigger players in a time where penalties drawn by speed are frequent. With Weatherby, Mattson, Costello, Kunz, and Caulfield, we should be able to grind it out, but do we lose on the speed end. Not saying you can't be big and a good skater, but typically they don't get up and down the ice like a Dixon Bowen.
  25. So, now are we a bad team, based on the results of one weekend? Maybe Union is a little better than you thought they were too.
