  1. With all due respect, how would they know if they are being trained incorrectly? I've also been through this program and I thought I had all the answers back then as well. It wasn't until I got back into training after a few years of being done with football, when I was forced to research a lot of things on my own, that I found out that most of what the strength staff at UND had told me was correct and that a lot of what I though I knew was stupid or flat out wrong. These players need to trust in the staff and work their assess off. That's how you get better.
  2. Not even close to valid. They work on speed, agility, and mobility all offseason. They also focus largely on Olympic lifting and squatting which will do more to prevent knee injuries than focusing on any of the other three. There are many programs all over the country with four ACL injuries in a season. This game is tough on knees, especially with the rule changes directing collisions downward away from players heads. UND's strength program is pretty similar to most strength programs throughout the country. It focuses on getting players strong and powerful which will make them faster and better athletes. It is hard work though and, if a player, doesn't get faster or stronger then they probably need to take a long look in the mirror.
  3. I think after today's game, it's pretty evident that this roster still needs a lot more turnover. Honestly, there are probably 10-15 guys who'd be better off enjoying life as non-student athletes with Ferguson.
  4. After reading through this thread, I have to say that this is some of the most bigoted and ignorant !@#$ that I've read on this website. If you think your "values" or "culture" are better than others because of the color of your skin or where your ancestors came from then you're an idiot and an absolute disgrace of an American.
  5. If Bartels and Mollberg are both hurt and Studsrud gives us the best change to win with then we should pull his redshirt. One thing I hope this new staff is instilling in this program is that you need to expect and try to win every game you play and not pulling redshirts to save someone who can help us in a game this year for next year isn't instilling that message. I understand it's not an ideal situation, but in ideal situation Studsrud would only maybe play 2 or 3 years anyways.

    Measure 5

Why? Current and former UND athletes can't have political beliefs that disagree with yours? Grow up.
  7. Running 3 miles for a football player is worthless. Run sprints or push a prowler until you puke but don't waste any time running for mileage. If you don't believe me, just google the effects of cortisol on strength. I always try to rely on science and the advice of experts in the field of strength and conditioning, as opposed to anecdotal testimony from guys who were born with freakish genetic ability.
  8. Distance running does absolutely nothing for a football player and for athletes in most sports. It's actually counterproductive to most athletes as it inhibits strength gains and leads to overwork injuries, while doing nothing for quickness and flexibility. If Joe wants to cut fat, he needs to clean up his diet and that's about the only thing that will do it.
  9. If you put together a list of the top 10 QB's in UND history, Hendrickson would not even be on it. FACT
  10. Screw em.... both teams fans are idiots. The officials saved Montana's ass this game so they got nothing to bitch about..
  11. This game next year is a huge mistake. UND is staring at a 1 or 2 win season. The talent level on this squad is hands down the very worst in the Big Sky and we're probably at least 2-3 years away from that reversing itself. I'm confident that Schweigert can turn this around but all this does is give him a shorter lease and make his job harder that it has to be.
  12. There's a lot of accurate things in this post. Grand Forks could do or could have done everything that Fargo has done, but quite simply is run by parochial old men who hate anyone or anything that will upset the status quo. I remember from when I lived there that the city government and more than a fair share of the residents pretty much hated UND students, other young people, and anyone who had anything to do with the air force base. Merchants loved the extra dollars those groups brought in but had no interest in treating anyone fairly in terms of employment, while law enforcement mainly viewed UND students as second class citizens who weren't deserving of the same treatment as their neighbors. Now that was 10 years ago but every time I'm back I get the feeling not much has changed.
  13. Nice dodge.... I'll repeat my question. What would you have Governor Dayton do to prevent a handful of Minnesotans from leaving the country to go fight for Isis? It's not like he can seal the border.
  14. What exactly do you want Dayton to do about that?
  15. Can we quit with the hero worship of Golladay and Edwards? Golladay was physically gifted athlete who turned in some great performances and a lot of average ones. He ultimately quit on this program so really doesn't need to continue to praised on this board. Edwards was an average athlete and below average football player who quite frankly wouldn't have started on most of our Division II teams. He also quit on this program and no longer needs to be praised on this board.
  16. Kupchella, Thomas, Buning, Kelly, and Faison all share the blame on this.... they literally destroyed this program.
  17. Lennon left because the university at the time was unwilling to pay him what he was worth because he would have made more than Hakstol. This university literally sabotaged this program.
  18. I put 100% of the blame for the state of this program on Brian Faison. The man is incompetent. This is what happens when you take two months to hire a foootball coach because you're a total idiot. UND should have fired his ass yesterday!
  19. Gameday should just set up shop in the pig research barns. It would only be right that they get the true NDSU/ Fargo experience by smelling pigshit all day.
  20. If it wasn't for the nickname fight, UND probably has a conference home for all sports except football (Summit) two years earlier. Like it or not, the nickname fight hurt every sport on campus other than hockey. Whether or not membership in the Summit would have lead to membership in MVFC is debateable, but one thing that is certain is that if UND still had the Sioux nickname we wouldn't be in any conference at all and would be in an even worse place than we are now.
  21. He would have thrown at least three picks against a capable defense.
  22. Only if you're around too many NDSU grads
  23. The real match tonight has been Mafia Man vs gfhockey to see who can be the biggest !@#!$! in the game thread. Gfhockey had the early lead but Mafia Man is rallying late.
  24. Well, we're going to have to be really patient as UND fans. This team is probably at least two more recruiting classes from being competitive. There were maybe a few good things that have happened tonight but mostly bad things overall. The team just has little to no talent at a lot of positions. This San Jose State team is not even close to being a good team for their level. They play the Gophers in a few weeks and wouldn't be surprised if they lose by three scores.
