  1. In his defense, taunting is part of the game now. It goes on all game long on both sides. I'm not saying it's right but it's Mickey Mouse when refs call it after big plays because they literally could call it every single play.
  2. The officiating in that game was horrid. There is no way that they had a conclusive enough shot to overturn Santiago's first TD in overtime. They also amateurishly almost played the entire OT in the same enzone and had to whistle the play dead immediately before the snap to correct it.
  3. This is a good observation. For whatever reason we struggle with getting the play in and then we have to rush through our jet motion which screws up our timing on offense. I don't know why this continues to be an issue. All of these guys were in this offense last year so really should have this figured out.
  4. Athletic departments like Nevada and Wyoming run $3-5 million deficits annually. There is no way UND or NDSU could ever get away with that in this state. FBS football for both is a pipe dream unfortunately.
  5. So how much damage to the visitors locker room after this game? Any word yet?
  6. It's really tough to know what to make of that game. It's great to have a win but at this point I don't know if that's the start of a run or what will ultimately be the high point of a disappointing season. Anyways we need to have respect for winning. We're going to find out a lot about this team next week in Montana.
  7. That's right UNI is 0-2 in their division and SDSU is 1-2 and in their only win gave up 28 points to Drake. Guarantee that both our ranked in the top 10 in every FCS poll this week which really can't be described as anything other than laughable.
  8. Once again this program just can't get out of it's own way. This was a piss poor loss and quite frankly Bubba and the offensive coaching staff didn't have the offense ready to play.
  9. That's different as nearly every high school in the state had a women's basketball program or was going to soon start one at that time. Women's hockey is not getting any traction at the high school level. Participation rates are incredibly poor in the states of ND and MN. It won't develop for the same reason that men's hockey hasn't expanded nationally. It's a niche sport that due to high costs at the youth level has significant economic barriers to participation. Having a highly expensive program in Grand Forks, ND filled with players from Europe isn't sustainable under any scenario.
  10. Kennedy needs to step forward and make a public announcement that it's off the table. He really can't let this sit out there as every program is no doubt having this used against them in recruiting.
  11. I'll also add that I'm incredibly disappointed that Kennedy is delegating this to a committee of know-nothings. How is Bubba, Jones, or Brewster supposed to go out and recruit when we have the head of this committee asking if the school can move back to Division II and it being broadcast throughout the state? The committee should be told to go home and Kennedy can make the decision. Having a committee out there deliberating idiotic recommendations in the public eye is the last thing this school and AD needs.
  12. It should be a no-brainer that Women's Hockey gets cut. Frankly, it's been a millstone around this institution's neck since it's inception. Pretty much every prediction made by it's proponents (cough..REA) has been flat out wrong. It was supposed to be a revenue sport and be the starting point for driving interest in the sport at the high schools levels in ND and MN. Neither has come even close to being true as it's a money pit and the very few ND high schools that started teams are now cutting them due to lack of participation. If Schlossman wants to see women's hockey then maybe he can chip in to finance a club team. It probably won't work because it would seem that no one in the state of ND wants to watch or play the sport but he's welcome to give it a try.
  13. I hate to defend Bresciani and the ag college as the media policy was totally asinine, but Port's tactics are going to eventually make it next to impossible to attract talented applicants for positions at both UND and NDSU or any of the states university systems. He isn't by any means an unbiased journalist and primarily uses his platform with the Forum and his personal blog to put a greasy thumb on the scale for those who wish to destroy higher education and primary education in the state of ND. He has the narrow minded opinion that since it requires zero education or critical thinking skills to run his blog, that no one else should require any form of higher learning either. He's an outright fool at best and a shameless hypocrite at worst. If he or another reporter subjected the ND legislature and the governor's office to 1/10th the scrutiny that he subjects higher Ed in ND too, the state could finally start to weed out the extreme levels of corruption at the legislative level, primarily coming out of Al Carlson's office. Port won't do that though since he's Al's lapdog, and it's pretty ridiculous that the Forum would employ him and give him another platform for what's essentially propaganda.
  14. So in all honesty what is the point of this thread and why is it on Siouxsports? Do the members of this site really need an entire thread devoted to airing their bigotry? Can't the posters on this thread just head on over to a Trump campaign site or Stormfront to air their grievances?
  15. The best part about Wentz playing for the Eagles is that if at any time he struggles even one bit the two most delusional fan bases in sports will go head to head against each other.
  16. I think it's obvious that he does... every presidential election he tells numerous Republicans candidates that he wants them to be President only to let most of them lose in humiliating fashion.
  17. Good call by Bubba... this is exactly the way to handle this.
  18. I'd actually be disappointed if Bubba enforces anything harsher than a 1 game suspension. If it were my decision I'd just have some extra conditioning for the team. We're really at the point where it's unethical for police departments to spend time enforcing these laws as it will be legal within the next decade.
  19. Not sure what happened there... can we move my post above to the other thread?
  20. Back in our Division II days both UND and NDSU had their own pro days. Mainly because each school had 5-6 NFL prospects on their rosters at a given time. That stopped when UND began the drought in talent that occurred during the Mussman era. I'd expect that to change in another year or two. It's beneficial to athletes at both NDSU and UND to have two different pro days to potentially showcase their talents for NFL scouts.
  21. The only time I've ever heard of a school refusing to let players from other schools work out at their pro day was when Brewster refused to let Dressler and a few other small school players work out at the U of M's pro day. He basically informed them after they'd all traveled to Minneapolis after being asked to come there by NFL scouts that they would not be able to work out. He wasted their time and also wasted the time of a lot of the NFL scouts in attendance. I would say it's just another one of the many reasons why that d-bag will never rise above the level of TE coach again.
  22. I would absolutely support a move by UND to FBS football. As to your comment about the Big Sky, schools like Montana, Montana State, and UC Davis are in no way comparable with any school in the NCHC other than Miami of Ohio. I will concede, however, that other than the top half of the Big Sky, most of the MVFC, and about half of the CAA that FCS football is filled with schools who are not peers at all with UND.
  23. I'm not a hockey fan but UND would be foolish not to join a Big Ten Hockey Conference if invited. SCSU, Bemidji, Mankato, CC, etc... are rinky-dink athletic programs that UND should do whatever it takes to distance themselves from in the future.
  24. They basically just choose not to comply with Title IX. The have nearly 3 men's scholarships for every women's scholarship. At every other school in the country the ratio is 1.1. UND and every other FCS school would have a ton of money to plug back into their football programs if they didn't offer scholarships or fund sports like women's hockey and women's swimming and diving. If there are any UND attorneys out there looking for a case where they can make a ton of money this is probably where it is. The settlement when this blows up against them will be huge and probably would cripple their athletic department for a decade at a minimum. It's why they can't go FBS, any conference that sees that ratio would want nothing to do with them as they would know it's only a matter of time until that shoe drops.
  25. This whole thing is beginning to have me question the quality of my UND education. We have fanbase that is so upset about a nickname they had a fairly strong voice in choosing that they are willing to boo their own teams. Meanwhile, these exact same people will turn out in November to elect the guy with the most responsibility for the loss of the old nickname (Wayne Stenehjem) the next governor of ND. It doesn't really get any more idiotic than that.
