  1. Goon, it's a desperate article by both nickname supporters and a blog who's source of income is hits on its website. In a time where nickname supporters are trying to gather signitures for their petition its a perfect article to get signitures from those with no vested interest in the university.
  2. I just think Kelly has more patience than I would have for this. We've changed from not retiring the nickname, to retiring the name, to not retiring it, to now transitioning to retiring it. Things that were said when we were in the retirement stage shouldn't be held against someone when we've flip flopped two or three times now. I don't think Kelley has ever really hid his thoughts on the subject even though he hasn't come out and voiced them publically. As far as the NCAA and Big Sky are concerned I guess I'm in the crowd that believes if its their club, they can do what they want. UND still has the option of keeping their nickname, its called the NAIA.
  3. If I was Kelley I'd resign on my own and go tell the hockey only loving crowd to go !@#$ themselves. Than you could apply for the job Star since you seem to have the whole conference thing figured out and could get the rest of the sports into a conference while being in good standing with the NCAA.

Heard both UND and ndsu have made an offer to Lechler from Beach. I know both Montana and Montana St. were recruiting as well, not sure if either have made an offer.

Well, now that we are in the recruiting dead period what's everyone's thoughts- assuming of course everyone who has verballed sign on Signing Day. Good list of kids that have verballed so far. We're continuing to build depth by getting some kids who appear as if they could play very early in their careers. I expect we will see, or hear about, a some offensive linemen and a few more secondary verbals as those are always going to be positions of need in the Big Sky. What is everyone's thoughts?
  7. This is in the football forum. Lets not start this argument.
  8. Done trolling yet? A simple look at your posts and its easy to see why your here.

Here is a good article on him while your waiting. Sounds like a good talent. The coaches are doing a great job this year and I know they are very happy with how this years class is shaping up. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/high-school/tag/_/name/anthony-taylor

I believe I heard there were about 10-12 recruits in town for the weekend.

    2012 Recruiting

Paper from his home town had an article that said ndsu offered a full ride and he was waiting for a visit from UND to see what they were going to do. ndsu was the front runner at that time before he had even spoken to UND. You can tell the story however you want but UND never offered the kid. I'll take it as what I have heard and they had WR higher on the list. Not a knock on either the school or the kid but its how coaches evaluate talent. In a few years we'll see who was right.

you don't know either yet you and all your buddies like to keep coming on this board come recruiting season and tell everyone how it went down. Fact, he had two offers, ndsu and Moorhead, not sure what FCS schools you are talking about. Good job, you stole a recruit from Moorhead.

I read from the Fargo Forum that Molberg and a RB from Wisconsin committed to ndsu, neither ever happened. Not a good reference.

Nice comeback Danno. There is a common theme with all those players on that team, great players who had great success 4 years in the conference. UND probably didn't have any of those players but some of the kids on our roster now will have just as successful careers by the time they are done at UND. How about the number of Great West championships each team won?

The kid is a good player but he wasn't UND's highest ranked WR. Things are looking good for the guys they have ranked higher and time will tell if they made the correct decision by not offering. Either way, Woods definately turned some heads with the two playoff games he had.
  17. A majority of our players making plays for us in our best Great West years were young guys. You look at that list and most of those players were All Conference 2 or 3 years. We were lacking those players early on during transition or if we did have them, they were dismissed from the team. I'd take some of the guys we have coming back for a year (or 3) after this year and compare them to some of the players on the list by the time they are seniors and like where we stand. Don't let the fact that we don't have any players on that list get in the way of the amount of talent we have returning. It just took some time for our coaches to build that talent. One thing this list shows is the Great West was a pretty solid conference in the short time it was around. Some very, very talented players on that list.
  18. Its not pretty but they won again. With his specific skill set he's as good as a lot of other qb's in the league and there is a lot to be said for his "attitude" rubbing off on other players on the team and getting everyone to pull in the same direction. He's won as many games this year as Orton won in 4 years. I've been a Broncos fan for 20+ years as well and wasn't exactly high on him when he took over the job but won't argue with the results.

    Thanks for the updates Ira.
  20. I would rather play an FBS on the road and take the chance of getting beat than play a DII (non counter) and win. At least with an FBS we get a paycheck. In the eyes of a playoff selection committee the DII game never happened. Our goal every year is to make the playoffs and how our schedule is set up now we are asking our team to win 7 out of 10 games in a new conference vs. schools much more established with their depth. Not easy for any team.
  21. They are joining the Big East for football only. Boise St. will more than likely be looking for a home for the rest of its sports. The Big Sky, while maybe a long shot has been mentioned. Won't benefit the conference for football but will be a nice name to have in the conference for other sports if it happened. Probably won't but its worth talking about.
  22. Well, CBSsports and ESPN are reporting that an announcement is coming Wednesday that Boise and San Diego St. will join the Big East for football only. Could the Big Sky benefit from this now seemingly official shakeup?

I can't remember which kid (I think it was the runningback from Illinois) that mentioned he is coming for a visit this weekend. Should be a good weekend to bring in recruits. I hope we start to see the recruiting news pick up as we'll have a couple recruiting weekends before X-mas and than a full January.
  24. The SEC bias is there cause they beat every team, from every other conference they play in the Nat'l championship game. There are not two better teams in the country than LSU and Alabama.

    2012 Recruiting

Don't bother with him Ira he's been trolling for a while. As far as recruiting California the coaches are still there. Getting into the Big Sky and finally being playoff elgible has given UND and the coaches another recruiting pitch for local recruits. Despite what some fans of other schools would like to think UND's recruiting base will remain ND, MN, WI, SD and Iowa. We've gotten back to getting more and more talent out of these states the last couple of year and this year has started no different. Doing this will allow us to be more selective in some of these other states such as CA, Arizona, Texas, NE, and now apparently Illinois. The coaches are still there recruiting and will continue to pull talent from those states when they need to. We just have to get back to getting some of the local talent first.
