Your players didn't play like this game was bigger for us. They played with emotion and had a reaction after every big shot they hit. Saul didn't act like this game was bigger for UND. Its a lame excuse. NDSU has some good big guys inside and #3 or #4 can shoot it, can't remember his name but kid can shoot. It was a great win for UND and I was proud to be there to watch. Nice work fellas!!!! First volleyball, now mens hoops.
-
And the groundwork for the excuses begin. How is playing another D1 school a no win situation?
-
We played a home and home and split. Your basing your thoughts on a "what if". I'm basing mine on results that happened when the teams actually played.
-
Guess what my opinion of ndsu and the Summit league will be if UND wins tonight and ndsu goes on to win the Summit league championship? We already beat SDSU at home so I guess we crossed that one off our list. With this game being on statewide TV, the perception of each program will be affected by the outcome of this game. Compare tonights game to the volleyball season. Even though you made the national tournament, there wasn't much doubt about which school had the better team.

That is a good deal. Another feather in the cap when it comes to UND and it's conference's television exposure.
-
That will be an interesting one to follow. Kid appeared to have pretty good size and speed for a safety.
-
Saturday night on the hockey broadcast I believe Faison said the lower bowl was sold out. Not sure how many that seats but that is the last update on sales.

Thsi arguement gets old. Lets face it. Summit and Big Sky are equal as basketball is concerned and will flip flop in whatever rankings you want to look at from year to year. Both conferences have their good teams and both have their dogs. UND has beaten and lost to both from each conference. I'd like to see the UND team that beat the top teams from each conference show up tomorrow night.

He said it cause he knows as long as Roebuck is at UND they won't play the bison. You can figure out why he wouldn't enjoy that one.
-
This is a basketball thread isn't it? I'm talking all sports. How many times was your volleyball team on TV? How many other basketball games will be televised? Your looking at one sport, I was asking about athletics as a whole. Not even close.
-
Your seriously going argue where the two programs are at as far as TV? That is one area our AD has worked very hard to develop and its not even close. I watched more UND volleyball games on TV this year than what your basketball team will see.

While you both have a point here is the way I look at it. It is the season opener and a home game. The attendance should be good with some excitement built from this season along with the hopefully improved marketing this offseason. May as well spend the money on a game that counts for something. Every win is going to count to get to the needed number for playoffs. Our team will be better but I'm not thinking we will be good enough in our first full season in an established conference to have to get to 7 or 8 wins in basically a 10 game schedule. I'd love to be proven wrong but with the inconsistent play last year, who knows. That one extra game could end up being the difference.
-
That didn't even take long for them to repost on bville. Man, those bison fans are funny with their "hey, look what i found, lets post it no matter the context" ways.

Great site, I'd honestly be happy with traveling for a FCS game (as part of a home and home) instead of having that 6th home game vs. Mines. Only if we can't get a home FCS game to recplace it. I don't want to play that game cause it will be a blow out and I don't want to take the chance of having that game haunt us down the road if we get to the necessary win total for the playoffs. Plus if we can get a lower end FCS game that could be the win that gets us to the 7-8 win total and in the playoffs.

Inside? Outside? A linebacker that went the Juco route that may have committed before but had to get his grades up?

If the kid never signed a Letter of Intent there is nothing binding him to the school or vice versa. Kid openly admitted he wasn't 100% sure about the choice. Nothing wrong with heading a different direction and he may find something that suites him better.

http://www.hometownfocus.us/news/2012-01-06/Sports/EJ_Welch_signs_letter_of_intent.html Short article on EJ Welch signing. I'm guessing he will be enrolling this spring and will be able to participate in spring practices.

This is good news. Get someone in here to hold down the position for one year, hopefully play well and than let the young guys remaining fight it out to see who takes over after that. I think after this recruiting class we will have the young qb in our system we can develop. Hopfully this is the answer to the position that has been the biggest question mark the last couple years. Nice work by the coaching staff.
-
I think next weekend is going to be a big recruiting weekend for us.
-
I agree with some of the above, lets give the kid a chance to get here before we throw him under the bus. His coach said some other schools were waiting on some other offers before offering him, we'll see how it plays out. Hopefully by now the team has an identity inside the locker room and a kid either fits in or makes the proper adjustments to fit in. Newsflash- not every kid our coaches recruit will be an A+ student with a perfect attitude. Its up to the player to buy into the program and hopefully it works out in this case. A certain LB who just graduated had a little trouble and a little bit of an attitude before he got to UND and he ended up being a great player and a great person off the field. Give this kid a chance.

Kelley / SBoHE Deceived the Legislature and ND People

Its funny, I don't see a Legit Slater on any of our rosters of our athletic teams. This person believes so strongly about this he/she is willing to write their beliefs under a false name. Must beleive in this pretty stongly. And than you expect me to believe he/she is an athlete? -

I'm beginning to think that the only people who thought the meeting with the NCAA was going to change anything were you and Al Carlson. If I were on the trip I would have kept the car running with the AC on while we went inside to keep it cool. The meeting could have been that quick. -
We have a short 6 day window between quiet periods this week for recruiting. Hoping we hear of a few verbals this week but I'm guessing next weekend, the 14th will be the big recruiting weekend.

You mean Mac Schneider who is a UND alum, played athletics at UND, will take the time to share his thoughts with anyone who asks, and predicted this mess months ago when arguing against passing the bill to keep the name, one of the only officials to have the backbone to take a stand for the athletics teams he actually played for. Your comparing that Mac Schneider to Al Carlson who didn't even graduate from UND? Thats a big time stretch Star.
