I believe both UND and NDSU offered him a half scholorship. We were recruiting him as a TE and according to b'ville, they are looking at him as a tackle.
-
Looks like according to this article that was written 6 days ago- http://www.dennews.com/sports/big-recruits-eye-panthers/article_da99952c-4713-11e1-bb8c-0019bb30f31a.html that Anthony Taylor will sign with Eastern Illinois. He was our first WR commit and that could explain the addition of Zach Oliver who looks impressive.
-
Tuilagi seems to be pretty impressive. I think he will be a solid addition to our LB corps. I don't know much about Taj Rich besides that he had good accolades for his work this season but I really like the job the coaches did at recruiting LB's again this year. We just keep building depth there.
-
Lechler is probably the top in state recruit left. I think both fan bases are awaiting his decision. Hopefully being located close to the Big Sky conference is a draw for him.
-
As far as Schwartzkopf, the guys on the football blog, a few posters here and I believe one newspaper article said he was a preferred walk on at UND. I'm not sure what you guys offered him but don't really know why it matters?
-
I'm sure you guys are happy with the qb you guys got. Us UND fans are very happy to get both Molberg and Bartels. The coach at Indiana St. has done a good job turning that program very quickly the last couple of years by recruiting very well. Obviously Bartels is a very good qb and caught his eye in order to get an early offer from the Sycamores. I'm sure the qb you guys got from Nebraska will be a fine player for you but we are very happy with the guys we got and our recruiting class.

QB's and WR's were the first that popped into my head. Hopefully some improvement in the secondary. There is nothing wrong with every player taking that message personal. The talent level on this team has improved dramatically over the last couple of years and I think there are probably only a handfull of starters that could pencil themselves in for next season.

We heard the same talk before the basketball game a few weeks ago.

Now the recruiting evaluation service to the south can rest easy. Nice find Hambone.

I found this on Fletcher- http://www.azcentral...011.html?page=2 He looks like a WR but are we possibly bringing him in at safety? Rated the tenth best DB in Arizona. If you look at the safety's we were recruitinng: -Charles Elmore- SDSU -Brandon Hathaway- Tennessee Tech -Sam Folz- walkon U of Nebraska Ben Holcomb- walkon U of Minnesota I don't think all these guys were the same safety position but by the looks of it the coaches were targeting some pretty high end safety recruits.
-
Interesting point. We graduated two so three isn't too much of a stretch, especially if the coaches saw talent they couldn't pass up. Fletcher was someone we had offered very early so I'm guessing we had him very high on our list.

It appears that getting some bigger WR to go along with what will be around the next couple years was a priority this year.

Check your own board and people saying how great it was having recruits at the ndsu vs. sdsu basketball game last night. Obviously the recruits know they aren't playing in the Ralph, but it is an event to bring the recruits to. As far was the weight room, UND doesn't share their football weightroom with anyone. It is unique in that sense. We have the same equipment as what ndsu has in the BSA. It may not be as large as the BSA but it doesn't have to be when it belongs to only one team, records on the wall, locker room and film rooms right in the same building. The teams who dominated the bison for years lifted there so I have no doubt the weights are just as heavy as what they are lifting in Fargo.

I think the coaches have done a very nice job recruiting so far. I'd still like to us start to recruit bigger strong side outside lb's. I think that is one position of our 3-4 that would be nice to address moving forward in the Big Sky. Last year, if I remember correctly, the last recruiting weekend of the year was a big one for us. We brought in a lot of out of area kids. I'm guessing with the Badgers coming to town and the atmosphere at the Ralph, this again could be a good final weekend for visits.

According to UND football blog- Monona Grove OL Joel Isenberger commited to UND yesterday.

Reading articles he appeared to break his collarbone in preseason and his team thought he was going to miss the entire season. He worked with the trainer for the Hawkeyes and made it back. When he came back, his was .500, they went on something like a 5 or 6 game winning streak. Missing time could be the reason he was overlooked, I have no idea. There is also a story from either end of Dec. or January that talked about how his recruiting was picking up. It was another article that required a membership so I don't know by who. I'd imagine we're looking at him as corner or maybe safety??
-
I agree its stupid but it was brought up by a ndsu fan who is still probably a little butt hurt after Tuesday night.
-
The good news is I think his replacement is already on staff and has been handling a lot of the recruiting duties. Great coach and tough to see him go though.
-
Thanks for your input. Its noted. When there stops being students who get turned away for tickets, we'll take a look at your recommendations.

Nice update. Congrats Daryl.

Assuming all of our curent reported commitments sign, I'mstill hoping to see a few OL added. We have done a pretty good job at building some depth (2 injuries last year), but I would like to see more added. We know Mussman can coach O-linemen so I'd like to see a Lauer or similar talents commit to add to that line.

Well said Ira
-
You forgot Hardin. I think if our qb play allows us, we will throw it around next year. I'm hoping either Young or Jackson (or both) fill that bigger, more physical WR role to compelent our other guys. Even though all have proven they won't shy away from crossing the middle.

Agree completely, last night UND played team basketball. I wonder if that is not part of the inconsistency where when we start to play a little to much indivdual, one on one we don't play well. Last night we moved the ball, gave the guys with the hot hand the ball and everyone contributed on defense. It was fun to watch. It was a great win for the program and being on statewide TV it gave each program a chance to show how they match up head to head.

A group of ndsu students was sitting in the row in front of us in the upperdeck and they went down to the lower level with a couple minutes left to as the put it "take the court after we win". There would have been ndsu students on the floor if you could have pulled it out, would that have been as odd to you?
