  1. I think most of the regulars on this site would agree that I have a history of being a Mussman apologist.........................up until this season. The guy was promoted to the head job by interim A.D.'s, after getting the support of Dale Lennon to take over. He has had to deal with the transition to DI, the nickname issue, and an extended period with no conference affilitation. Basically, the the deck was stacked against him from the get-go. However, with the resources that the University provides, this program should not be struggling like it is at this point. I was not as optimistic about this season as most of the members of this site were coming in. I said, prior to the season, that if North Dakota went 7-4 (best case scenario) and made the playoffs that Mussman would be deserving of Big Sky Coach of the Year honors, given what was returning on the team. Well, honestly I never expected 7 wins this season, but I CERTAINLY didn't expect only 3. And getting a 4th win will be a tall task. And I admit, I would still probably be advocating for the current staff in a 3 or 4 win season this year, if we had at least been competetive against the top Big Sky teams. Fact is, we are not even close to being able to beat the best of the Big Sky. If one considers Montana St., Eastern Washington, Montana, and Northern Arizona the cream of the crop in the conference, then I feel the need to point out that North Dakota is 1-7 against those schools since joining the league, and have we've been outscored 390 to 185 in those games. Honestly, I'm confident that our 36 scholarship teams from 1999-2007 would have fared as good or better in the Big Sky than has our recent teams.................... It is time for a change, it is time to shake things up. I have all the confidence in the world in Brian Faison as Athletic Director. He's done a helluva job in his time here with transition issues, nickname issues, coaching issues, and conference affiliation issues. I will also support the team no matter what. I don't have pre-determined stipulations when my ticket renewals come every spring. I love the University of North Dakota, and I love college sports.
  2. Kotelnicki has been on the sidelines since the Portland St. game. Don't know about Schleusner............
  3. I believe the average was over 10,000 in 2008........
  4. I'm flying out from GFK on Friday to watch this monstrosity take on the Aggies of UC Davis in the season finale. I intend to be at every home game in 2014 regardless of who the coach is.
  5. Entertaining game. Nice to get a win. Won the first home game and last home game. Now if we could just delete the five games in between. Lots of guys got banged up today. Wallace and Welch on crutches after the game.
  6. Boy it is miserable out here. Hate to think how bad attendance would be if played outdoors. I am going with the Sioux by 10.
  7. Impressive win for the Bears......
  8. I think Bartels has looked better in his playing time. I'd go with him the rest of the way.
  9. Can't we all just agree that football sucks right now and nobody really wants to have to watch it?
  10. You obviously don't follow FCS football all that closely, huh?
  11. Who here would have ever guessed that of the 5 NCC schools that moved to DI last decade that UND would wind up having the worst football team?
  12. I agree that the seating behind the baskets should be upgraded. But the Sioux Center has been very LOUD in the past. It has been sold out on multiple occaisons in the DII days, and once or twice against USD during the transition. When it is full, I think it is a fantastic place to watch basketball...........................
  13. Did this happen in practice? Mussman said on the radio that Kuska is on his home to seek medical advice. Sounds like it is serious, and could have been alot worse............
  14. Mussman said on the Coach's Show tonight that Mollberg will start, but Bartels will play...................
  15. If Pelini gets axed at Nebraska, I'd have to assume that Bohl would be on the short list. Tom Osbourne was his mentor as a player and coach, and by all accounts the two remain close. I believe that Osbourne was in Washington D.C. when Bohl was thrown under the bus at Nebraska. Pretty hard to argue with the guy's resume.................
  16. College Basketball Preview: Top 30 under-the-radar performers North Dakota opponents Taylor Braun of NDSU, and Kareem Jamar of Montana also on the list.
  17. Who cares? Hockey can't get on any channel that is relevant.......
  18. It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that a single employer has kept that guy around for 10 years.
  19. I've emailed Faison a handful of times over the years. He has replied every time.
  20. If they are old enough to serve their country in the military, then they should be able to handle criticism from their coach and from the fans that help foot the bill for their eduaction without being too emotionally scarred from it.
  21. These are not kids, they are adults. Most of whom are being paid, in the form of scholarship dollars, to play a sport at a public university. IMO, they are fair game for public criticism, just as the coaching staff is. Mussman criticizing his players in public is one of the few positive things he's done this season as far as I am concerned.
  22. The wide receivers haven't lived up to their billing, because the QB can't get them the ball. The QB can't get them the ball because the O-Line can't pass protect.
  23. Mid Major Poll UND received 64 points. NDSU, Weber, and Montana are opponents who made the poll.
  24. Before I had season tickets and a parking pass, we used to A) get there real early and look for a spot on one of the streets directly South of REA, B) park in the Med school lot, C) park in the Memorial Stadium lot and ride the bus, or D) park in the Memorial Stadium lot and walk. Options B and D were some pretty cold-assed walkes in January and February. I suppose there were financial reasons for discontinuing the bus, but I personally don't like it, and like I said, I have parking pass and didn't use the bus save for once or twice. Parking is a major problem at REA. Trying to park near the Sioux Center for a noon basketball game on the same day as a hockey game is like being interrogated by Homeland Security. Relatively speaking, it is like 3 times more work to get from your car to the REA vs. getting from your car to the Alerus, Fargodome, Excel, Target Center, Metrodome, etc...........................
