  1. I really don't care what type of offense a team runs, so long as they win. A good coach will adapt the scheme to fit the skill-set of the roster. I do prefer a balanced offense. But that doesn't mean it can't be 4 yard passes in place of 4 yard runs. Our traditional recruiting grounds seem to offer more "3 yards and a cloud of dust" type players than it does "chuck the pigskin" type players. Although there are always exceptions.
  2. Here are the official BinCitySioux Top 5: 1. Pflugrad 2. Okruch 3. DeWitt 4. Bubba 5. Marshall Why I like them: Pflugrad Decades of experience as a high level assistant at high level FBS/BCS conference schools Many years of experience as an assistant in the Big Sky Successful head coaching stint at a Big Sky school Familiar with Big Sky recruiting areas OkruchDecades of experience as a coordinator at high level FBS/BCS conference schools Defensive minded coach Is surely somewhat familiar with UND's "traditional" recruiting grounds having coached at Midwestern Big 10 schools, plus probably has contacts in Big Sky recruiting areas having been at Colorado Already sports UND-approved mustache DeWittDefensive coordinator experience in FBS Defensive coordinator experience at Northern Iowa Being originally from Wisconsin, having spent time at UNI, should be familiar with recruiting UND's traditional areas Younger guy, could be an up and comer in the profession Defensive minded coach Bubba [*]Years of defensive coordinator experience at greatest DII program of all time [*]Defensive coordinator experience at high level FCS conference [*]Head coaching experience at high level DII program [*]Knows the fertile recruiting grounds of the Upper Midwest [*]Defensive minded coach Marshall [*]Years of defensive coordinator experience at FCS schools, the last 6 at a high level Big Sky school [*]Always has been a part of a winning program, both at Drake and Montana St. [*]Iowa native and played and coached at Drake so should be familiar with recruiting in the Upper Midwest [*]6 or 7 years now experience recruiting in the Big Sky [*]Defensive minded coach [*]Younger guy, could be an up and comer in the profession
  3. Losing recruits to USD is always a bit embarrassing.
  4. I am anxious too, we are approaching a month without a head coach, and not much going on at the football offices. However, I think it is wise to take their time and get the "right" guy, whoever it is. I found an interesting read over at Egriz this morning. When Joe Glenn left there for Wyoming, they had some interesting candidates apply in 2002. Among them at the time were Brian Kelley who is now at Notre Dame and Chris Peterson who just left Boise St. for Washington. Bobby Hauck got the job, and he is now at UNLV. Pflugrad also applied at that time. I have no problem with Faison "vetting" the applicants as thoroughly as he sees fit.

  6. I've always liked Jamie Marshall's (Montana St. DC) resume. Don't know if he was serious contender in Faison's eyes, but I wonder if the now vacant position at his alma mater Drake will interest him. Obviously he has a desire to be a head coach.
  7. I should know how to embed video, but I don't. Here is a video from Akron of Okruch working with the D line. Link
  8. Are we overlooking this guy? Vince Okruch Vince Okruch is in his third season at Akron and serves as special teams coordinator Prior to coming to Akron, Okruch served as defensive coordinator at Illinois for one season. He spent five seasons as the defensive coordinator at Colorado (1999-2003). Okruch was part of Gary Barnett’s staff at Northwestern (1992-98) From 1985-91, he was a member of the Minnesota staff, working under Lou Holtz and John Gutekunst One season as linebackers coach at Louisiana-Monroe and one year as defensive coordinator at Western Illinois Has killer mustache Honestly, to me, looks like a good candidate.
  9. I emailed Faison and voiced my support for Pflugrad. brian.faison@athletics.und.edu Be concise. Be polite. Can't hurt.
  10. Roebucks to be recognized Saturday I find it a tad ironic that they picked this game to honor Roebuck.
  11. Based upon the poll results, I have feeling that Pflugrad will not be the next Head Coach at North Dakota. When have we ever been right?
  12. With the Sanford Pentagon coming g online soon, I'd be surprised if it is not there every year for many years to come. With the 3 Dakota schools and UNO all nearby, they sort of have WCHA Final Five thing going on.......
  13. People need to relax about how long this is taking. If Mussman had been an external candidate in 2008, his resume at the time would have looked pretty impressive and he probably would have been on the short list. Do we want a repeat?
  14. You're right it's not. But they are also not getting blown out of the water by middle of the pack Big West teams. Fact is, while NDSU basketball isn't anything fantastic IMO, they have wins against Big 10, ACC, and Big East teams on their courts. We can't even seem to make it interesting against a MAC team. It is very frustrating to have an experienced, senior-laden team that is so inconsistent.
  15. Very underwhelming.....
  16. Down 14 now...... There is a good chance that this team is way over-rated.
  17. Reserved seating. General admission on the ends. Beer flows freely.

  20. I don't know how questionable Bubba's ability to recruit really is. He was after all a very key part of assembling teams that participated in 4 DII National Championship games over a ten year span at two different schools. I figured Bubba would apply, and I would not be adverse to him getting the job. I would support Bubba 100% if he gets the nod, but he wouldn't be my first choice amongst the applicants. I agree that new blood would be best for this program.
  21. I agree. This program needs someone who is going to be a "father figure" to the players. Someone who has had experience in mentoring student-athletes and rebuilding a program. If our head coach had just retired after 5 straight seven, eight, or nine win seasons, I'd feel better about an up-and-comer like Bollinger. I just question whether he is the guy to plug the holes on what recently has been a sinking ship............................
  22. Nervous? No. Pflugrad hands down has the best resume. I'm still also very intrigued by Jamie Marshall and Jovan Dewitt. IMO, all three are plenty qualified for the position. Outside of Tibesar, who I have always felt was the longest of long shots, I really don't know what big name everyone is hoping applies. Bollinger is not qualified IMO. Every other "UND" guy out there is currently at Southern Illinois. Of all of them, only Bubba would be a serious candidate, I think. The only mystery/last minute guy that I hope slips an application in is Glenn Caruso. But even if he was considering it to start with, the new vacancy at NDSU is probably much more appealing to him. I had also hoped that Klieman would apply, before the Bohl/Wyoming news broke.
  23. Just so everyone is aware, under the "News and Media" section of the front page, any member can submit links to articles or videos. It is not limited to just mods or administrators. I added that flurry of articles the week of the NDSU and Oregon games because someone reminded me. in the past I've tried to remember to be more diligent about it, but it often slips my mind or I don't have time.
  24. This is a stupid argument. We all know that IF North Dakota makes the regionals, it is 50-50 at best that they'll only be available online on ESPN3. That is how it is every year. If we advance, we'll probably miss most of the 1st period for a frickin' Lacrosse game. NDSU football has been on Fox College Sports and Fox Sports 1 this past regular season. UND hockey will be on CBSSN, maybe NBCSN I don't know. It's a wash. Most of NDSU's games are available locally to most North Dakotans. Not so much for UND hockey anymore..........................
  25. That's kind of funny right there......
