  1. Meh, I thought it would would have been over before halftime. Still the game was never in doubt, UND led from wire to wire I believe. Those pesky Bison did make it entertaining for the first 25-30 minutes. Braun sure is a talented player, but wow what a ball hog. North Dakota fans gripe that Huff needs to dish it off more. He passes like Jason Kidd compared to Braun. I could not figure out why FU went away from Bjorklund in the 2nd half. Our guys held there own against him, but was quite obvious to me he could have had a much bigger night. Seems like they basically ignored him. The reffing is tough to watch, but that is how they are going to be calling it this year. This isn't the first game that has been like this. They were consistent in the their calls on both sides of the ball anyways. The one that dumb-founded me was the T on Huff. Very unnecessary. He got excited, and gestured toward his own student section after he made a 3. As expected, very fun team watch. Obviously already knew how great Huff and Anderson are, but Nash sure is fun to watch as well. That runner that Hooker made in the 2nd half was sick. I thought the post play was pretty good tonight, against one of the better post players in the Summit league by all accounts. Nothing flashy, but they held there own. Calcaterra especially had a nice game. Still need to work hard on boxing out for rebounds, which is such a fundamental thing. I know we're just 3 games in, but I'm really pleased with the way this team has been taking care of the ball. Against the Badgers we only had 12 turnovers, and tonight just 9. That's really good for the type of ball this team plays. It was a fun night. It's been a few years since the Sioux Center was packed like that. Hopefully this will show the students and other folks that aren't always there that there is a lot of fun to be had at the Betty, and this is an exciting product. With volleyball and men's basketball, it looks like the Betty is home to the best athletic programs on campus this season.............
  2. He's an experienced player, good shooter, and will provide quality depth. I assume it means that we will beat FU by even more than what I was already anticipating, which was already a lot...........................
  3. I'm really surprised with how Lennon has struggled at SIU. When he left here, I always felt he was going to be on a similar path as Brian Kelly. Maybe not ending up at a place like Notre Dame, but I really felt strongly that Dale would wind up with the head job at a FBS, possibly a BCS program by now.
  4. Outside of Tibesar, I don't think your list is all that unrealistic, and I basically agree. Personally, for my wish list, I'd put Pflugard ahead of Bollinger, and swap DeBoer and Schweigert on your list.
  5. I think the fact that North Dakota has far more talent on their roster will result in the game being essentially over by half time.....................
  6. Offensive Coordinator at Houston and Texas A&M is likely to be a different experience than is one year of being a position coach at Pitt..........................
  7. IMO, the situation with Bohl at FU is not unlike the situation we had with Lennon 6 years ago. Bohl routinely has had his team in the Top 5 of their division going back several years now. Multiple national championship appearances and wins in Bohl's case. Always a favorite to challenge for the title. Lennon had the opportunity to go to Montana St., one of the better schools in the division above him at the time and he withdrew. Later he accepted the opportunity to go to one of the better schools in the division above him at the time and that was Southern Illinois. Bohl has undoubetdly had offers the last couple seasons. At some point, he's going to get an offer that he can't turn down, just like Lennon did. It is a credit to NDSU and to Bohl. He is a good coach.
  8. I'm not so high Bollinger because the guy only has a year and half or so of experience in coaching. Great athlete, great player, local guy, lots of wins at the collegiate level, NFL experience etc................ My question is, if he had grown up and attended high school in Bum@#$, OH, would anybody want him as head coach here at this point?
  9. Pflugard has crossed my mind. If he applies, he'll get a look. I don't think North Dakota is going to reach out to him......................
  10. This is true. Just off the top of my head, Bill Belichick, John Harbaugh, Gary Kubiack, and Gus Bradley are all examples of NFL head coaches that spent no time as head coaches in the college ranks. Who knows if Tim Tibesar will wind up on the same path, but in my eyes, that is the trajectory he seems to be navigating. IMO, LB coach in the NFL can be a springboard to much more than a less than elite DI head coaching position in the NCAA.........................
  11. I find it interesting that as a Bears fan you have apparently never been to Greeley......................
  12. Honestly, I see 5 wins on the schedule next season: Robert Morris, Missouri St., Portland St., Weber St., and Northern Colorado. I would expect wins in those games regardless of the coaching change. In the big picture, I hope to see more disciplined play. Fewer penalties, better tackling, a somewhat competent offensive line.
  13. What are people's thoughts realistically if any of the assistant coaches will be retained? I would really like to see Kotelnicki stay on in some role. I just like the way he coaches. Special Teams were obviously very good when he was in charge of that area. The only other guy I feel really kind of strong about staying is Danny Freund. I think he was a great QB, a very cerebral one, and could do good things as a QB coach. He is a coach's kid, and being from Wisconsin could potentially already have and build important pipelines to recruiting in that state which has always been important to this program.
  14. I'm gonna throw another off-the-radar name out there: SDSU Defensive Coordinator Clint Brown Played at Nebraska, spent time as an assistant and Special Teams Coordinator at New Mexico St. when Faison was there.
  15. Let's forget a minute about who we WANT to apply for the job and who we WANT to get the job. Who does everyone think WILL apply for certain? I think Caruso and Bubba will certainly put in an application.
  16. But the choice isn't between North Dakota and Colorado. It's between North Dakota and Greeley. Nuff said..............
  17. Claeys: No way Tibesar: Unlikely IMO Bollinger: Possibly I'm very luke-warm to the idea of Bollinger
  18. I flew into GFK last night from Denver.................... Was I supposed to meet with Faison?
  19. Only 12 turnovers against defensive minded Bucky. That is pretty good.
  20. Maybe it isn't, I don't know. I'm just not sure it would work financially. Tibesar has held some very high profile positions in the Big 12 and Big 10, and is now in the NFL. He seems to be on an upward path at the moment that I think may not include a stop in the FCS ranks................
  21. If it is true that Klieman has interest in the job, and North Dakota has interest in him, how would that work, logistically, for the rest of this FCS season? Same question for any potential candidate that still has part of a season to coach. In the case of Klieman, or any other current coach that may be playoff bound, the rest of his season could likely go into January. If someone like Klieman were hired on December 10, would he be done at his current job, leaving them without one of their top assistants for the playoff run? Would he keep his job, and not take over until his current team is done with the playoffs?
  22. I find it interesting that paid attendance in 2011 was less than it was this year. 2011 was Mussman's best year going 8-3 and winning the Great West. Of course the year prior in 2010, we were 3-8, and I think we can all agree that the 8-3 year in 2011 was somewhat surprising. Expectations were artificially high coming into this season, and therefore there was by all accounts a significant bump in season ticket sales which boosted the paid numbers. Obviously, actual attendance waned as the season unfolded. Don't know how many of those new tickets got used the latter part of the home schedule. Will a new coaching hire do enough to reinvigorate the fan base going into next year to rebuild attendance right away? Or will we continue to see crowds of 5,000-7,000 until the on-field results show a significant improvement?
  23. Honestly, it's probably for the best that seats are limited, and it will be a decidedly pro-North Dakota crowd. I don't expect that the game will be very entertaining from NDSU's perspective.
  24. Outside of Tibesar, which I think is unrealistic, Klieman is my favorite potential candidate amongst all the names that have been thrown out there. He has many years of experience as a DC at two different schools that have always been known for solid defensive play. He has head coaching experience. He has experience as an assistant at several FCS schools, and an FBS school. He has spent the majority of his coaching career in North Dakota's traditional recruiting territory. He has spent the majority of his coaching career at winning programs such as Northern Iowa and NDSU. It will definately be excruciating as a fan over the next several weeks with all of the speculation, at least until we get list of finalists.
