  1. Not Coleman? Wonder who the second player is.
  2. I assume we are talking about deRouen and Coleman? Coleman would be a loss but deRouen wouldn't be. There a bunch of high school guards who can do what he did. MSUM has several.

Exactly. Great post. "Eye on the Prize"

The pivotal game is vs. Idaho State. That is a game that can be won but is vs. a Top 5 Big Sky team. The game vs. NDSU means very little in the grand scheme of the schedule as UND will be a huge underdog, about the same as the Wyoming game. Take emotion and passion out and its another non-conference game.
  5. Good job. Good effort.
  6. The Tribe
  7. Team GPA being worst on campus, which tells me somebody could be in trouble next fall with GPA. That Adidas isn't good enough for them but is for the rest of UND's teams. Couple small ones.
  8. I will buy in when I actually see the guys you mentioned on the floor next fall. There is no way this roster stays the same after this year's disaster. Some of those transfers need to be moved.
  9. I see Craig Smith just led South Dakota to an upset victory over IPFW in the first round of the Summit tourney (in his first year). We didn't need him.
  10. Who is going to leave? 3/4 of the roster is made up of players that already transferred. They cannot sit out another year without burning most all their eligibility and no coach is going to take a kid off UND's roster for 1 year. Hooker would be the only one to worry about. 1 player, big deal.

Darell diverting a UND-NDSU conversation AWAY from NDSU and wanting to focus on something else:

If you are talking about the outcome, I think we all know UND will be massive underdogs. The environment will be fun but no crazier than any other NDSU home game. How much is a single game ticket to an NDSU football game typically?

But - "its just another game. Helps fill the schedule for 2015 and gets a start on 2019. Good business decision. That is all"....JJ. Why the high ticket price for just another game?
  14. Of course they would up the salary. They have done it for every coach that has been replaced after the transition. It would need to be in the 140-150K range.
  15. Amazing that de Rouen was left wide open at the end of the game. "But he got a good look". Reminds me of the guy who always said "...but I was open". Then the coach replies, "..there is probably a reason why." Omaha left UND's worst 3 point shooter open and somehow he ended up being the one that took the shot. Omaha 1. UND 0.
  16. Huh, that flies in the face of everything that the current UND Football staff has said about President Kelley and his wife. They raved about both of them when discussing recruiting and how they participate in the weekend official visits. Marcia does a great job selling the university to recruits, as does President Kelley during this speeches. Almost seemed like they go out of there way to help promote the university to the football recruits, which they do not have to do.
  17. He gets full credit for both wins and losses. Unfortunately....
  18. One was at home, the other on the road - Lost by 38 on the road and won by 19 at home. Coaching had very little to go with the location of the game. UND has never won at SDSU or NDSU or Montana. But they have beat them at home. Not the most impressive list of "big" victories.
  19. Its hard to quantify "development" because you don't know what their ceiling is. I would say Huff and Anderson developed pretty well. He got every last ounce out of Wilmer. More for me, and maybe it ties into what you are saying, is have they ever beat a team they shouldn't have or have they ever over-achieved as a TEAM? Who knows, just random thoughts.
  20. I was speaking to my previous post, which laid out the past four years or the current team. We know Huff, etc. did well but they were signed 5 years ago and are gone. Looking at what UND did after they signed that class is as important as looking at just that class.
  21. How can you say the high school recruiting has gone nicely, they only have four that play significant minutes on the entire team? He basically ignored high school kids for two full years and completely flopped in another year (2011).
  22. Here is UND's recruiting over the past four years (per wiki): 2011 Signees (THREE high school) SG Lenny Antwi (comes of bench) SF Josh Gentry (transferred out) SG Shane Benton (doesn't play) 2012 Signees (FOUR transfers and ONE high school) C Ryan Salmonson (Cosumnes River CC) (doesn't play) PF Alonzo Traylor (Iowa Western JC) (started-done now) F Jaron Nash (Texas Tech) (starts) G Dustin Hobaugh (Houston Baptist) (comes off bench) G Thomas Blake (walk-on-doesn't play) 2013 Signees (ONE high school and ONE transfer) C Chad Calcaretta (Western Nebraska CC) - (Doesn't play) SG Quinton Hooker (star of the team) 2014 Signees (FOUR transfers and FOUR high school) C Bryce Cashman (comes off bench) SF Josiah Coleman (Iowa Western JC) (comes off bench) PG Geno Crandall (redshirt) SG Terrel de Rouen (New Mexico State) (starts) G Estan Tyler (UMKC) (starts) C Carson Shanks (Utah St) (starts) F Kraig Shields (comes off bench) F James Richman (redshirt) In the last four years of recruiting, Jones has taken in 9 transfers and 9 high school kids, one of which has left already. The results we are seeing this year should not be surprising to anybody. Once Huff and the boys were done, there was mostly a hodge podge of quick-fixes left. Hooker, Shanks and maybe Cashman/Shields are all they have to truly build around right now on a 15 man roster. I have heard some saying that Jones is a good recruiter but what I see above does not prove that. IMO, it shows he didn't want to "rebuild", as many are trying to sell on here. He wanted to take the easy route and hope that experienced transfers would fill the void. How a coach can only sign one high school kid in two full recruiting classes (2012-2013) is somewhat alarming. (If I missed anyone let me know).

I believe so. Ugly game for both sides.

Drake was actually pretty solid last year in the Pioneer League. They went 7-4 under their new coach. Not saying they are the greatest but are far from Valpo or Davidson. UND struggled with Drake a couple years ago, IIRC.
