  1. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/109597/ Classy Fargo South, I thought Grand Forks people were the poor sports. Also, there must be more to it. I can tell you that you don't get billed for locker room cleanup if all you do is smear a little peanut butter on a shower wall. Also, I am afraid to know what the team had peanut butter in the shower for. But hey, whatever floats your boat I guess.
  2. Actually, Red River proved they were the best team in the state. Central and South may have had better individual parts, but being individuals got them both a birth in the 3rd place game. Fargo South continues the tradition of coming up short when it matters most.
  3. No, but you're gonna, after the 3rd Fargo high school opens up and decimates the Fargo South numbers advantage. Enjoy it, because they won't get within sniff of title game once their enrollment is closer to that of the schools they play against.
  4. Even with a stud like Demers it took an extra player.
  5. Grafton found out that it is alot tougher to win without cheating, by actually playing with the right amount of players on the ice.
  6. Based on that he has been here 4 years and never dropped the gloves. Kaip wasn't the biggest guy, but did so when the situation called for it. I will say that not every hockey player should be expected to fight. However, the ones that are constantly playing up an "enforcer" or "tough guy" role, should be willing to do so when the situation calls for it.
  7. Kaip has twice the sack that Finley does, or ever will.
  8. Which leads to the obvious question, why have a replay video board, that never shows any of the close plays? We don't usually need replays of the obvious ones. Maybe I missed it, but even after the refs waived off the Mavs goal for being kicked in....still no replay. At that point, I don't see what the harm would be in showing it.
  9. Question: With all the technology, why does REA have lousy replay efforts? I understand that while the ref's are reviewing a play, they don't want it playing on the overhead. That being said, once the ref's make their decision, why can't the replay then be shown? We don't want to see Whalen's Lame Move of the Game replay, we want to see close plays replayed. So what gives?
  10. Exactly, not alot of them within sniffing distance of the middle, much less the right.
  11. Studies conducted by whom? The bleeding hearts....of course. All I know is that kids behaved a lot differently, and a lot better, when the potential punishment involved more than just a "talking to".
  12. Or perhaps it is out of......gulp.....DISCIPLINE? You know, that little thing that most parents don't do anymore. I agree that some people cross the line into abuse, but nothing wrong with spanking for discipline under the right circumstances. There has been a direct correlation that over the last 20 years or so that bleeding hearts have tried to eliminate spanking, there has been an equal rise in out of control kids. Not the only factor, but I have no doubt it is a factor.
  13. Development does appear to be an issue. However, one has to wonder how someone like Wheeler can look so ordinary in college and then flick the switch and be a good player in the NHL. Also, guys like Irmen and R. Potulny were good college players, but I never got the feeling they got better during the time with the Gophs.
  14. What do you think there job is? Too enforce housing rules on the UND campus, one of which is no alcohol and another being no beating people up. I doubt that the RA's had handcuffs and mace and were trying to make an arrest when Kelley assaulted them. They more than likely were just following him so they could report his position to UND police when they showed up. And yes, they are University employees. So it's ok to beat up a university employee as long as they are below the level of professor? Right. This kid needs to stay in MPLS and join the UFC, not play Sioux football.
  15. That's kind of what I was getting at. If you feel you only need a year in the AHL, then by all means take the money if it is good. However, if you think it will take several years in the AHL, why not stay the extra year in college. You will still develop, and get to stay with your teamates you have spent the last 2-3 years with.
  16. Nothing, but it probably means you will spend your fair share of time in the minors before getting to that point. Nothing to leave college early for, and also no reason for the pro team to pull you from college early.
  17. Question, I like VV and what he brings to the team. However, is he any more of a prospect than Chris Porter was? I liked what Porter brought to the table too, but they both seem like players destined to be very good AHL players, or middle of the road NHL players.
  18. I don't know how much more objective I can get. This coaching staff has done nothing to prove they can win at the DII level. What makes you think they can recruit and be successful at the DI level? Throw transition, redshirt, etc, out the window. This team should not struggle with DAC10 teams whether UND is a DII, transition, or DI program. But by all means, I respect your right to have a pollyanna like opinion on the team.
  19. A goalie rotation is fine if you two good goalies like Parise/Lamoreux. A goalie rotation is not so good if its a Siembida/Kollar type of thing (Kollar post Goehring leaving, not while Goehring here)
  20. Having a basketball team that loses to SW Minnesota and barely squeeks by the Valley City's of the world is getting old too. I was a basketball fan, when they put a decent product on the court. Chris Gardner, Ben Jacobson, etc, were entertaining. One can argue whether it's talent or coaching, but the current product stinks. I would still pay money to watch a UND women's game as long as I didn't have to stay and watch the men.
  21. Whatever happened to the good old days when the Sioux were the clean cut team and the Bison were the team full of thugs getting in fights and guys getting kicked off for not meeting grades? Welcome to DI I guess as I'm sure there will only be more to come.
  22. That's ridiculous. A guy was almost convicted of murder in Grand Forks recently (Broken Drum beating) over something he allegedly did with his fists so a weapon is not necessary for a crime to be a felony. It doesn't matter if it's just fists, if the beating is severe enough.
  23. I'm a little fuzzy here, is the Northern Sun a division above DI?
  24. I'm guessing if the beating was bad enough, even with fists, a felony would be in order. Perhaps a lawyer could provide more light on this. whoever Kelley attacked must have been hurt pretty bad for the felony. I agree, a one punch fight that ends in just a bloody nose doesn't justify a felony. This must have been more.
  25. I don't know, he might be back off the wagon again if he saw his Gophs get beat by the Sioux. He won't work for KFAN again, but maybe he can get a fresh start somewhere else.
