  1. Because as a nation our sons and daughters have been willing to to defend the lives and freedoms of not only our own nations children and people but those of other nations and cultures even when it is not the popular thing to do in the eyes of those who have never been in harms way. I can't imagine the anguish of those families of those children held against their will by violent cowards who hide in the jungles and hills abusing and murdering defenseless human beings. We do this because others don't have the courage or sometimes don't have the resources to take on difficult and dangerous missions. Unfortunately too often with these militant groups our technology won't always penetrate deep into these areas and we don't have the human intelligence often essential to plan a successful mission. I'm afraid this will take "boots on the ground" along with modern technology to get these people. Germany still has some post WWII restrictions and Russia is preoccupied . China doesn't care.
  2. Sioux have interest in Detroit Lakes James Huwe. 6'1" 285 lbs. Great feet, quick, strong. Placed 4th HW Mn State Wrestling Meet as Soph
  3. Mollberg was 3-4 and the 4th was a perfect sideline pass for a first down on 3rd and 13 that was dropped by the receiver. His fifth pass was another completion that was blown dead by an early whistle. Bartels also had an early whistle cost him a completion. I was told Mollberg threw only one pick in spring ball on his last pass Friday. Not sure who told you he hasn't improved. Spring fb isn't for flash and neither was the scrimmage. The defense has improved. They tackled better, and the def backs played good position fb. They didn't let anyone behind them which was a big weakness the last couple of years. Off line still needs work. I don't think Mussman valued the hs kid with big frame and quick feet that needed to gain 40 lbs as much as the 6'5" 290 lb hs kid than can be dominant cuz of size but doesn't have the size to dominate at this level without quick feet. Running backs ran hard. Didn't see breakaway speed but they weren't getting tackled by one arm by defender laying on the ground. Didn't complete any deep passes. Bartels had good zip on TD pass but missed his only pass downfield. He looked stronger than last fall. They threw to TE's more Sat than all of last year. TE's need to get stronger. WR's only dropped the Mollberg pass. I walked away thinking these guys have improved on defense and we still have work to do on both sides but mostly O-line and we lack depth on line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Lots of outside LB's. Too soon to judge other than there is progress. We know what we had last year and what we lost. The guys that are here I believe have improved.
  4. Can't say any group is best. Hardin was All-American. Ran 4.35 at pro day. Jackson was 6'3" 230 lbs and a beast. Golladay is 6'5" great vertical, great athlete and good speed. This was as good a group as you found in college FB with few exceptions. They could all make the highlight real catches and blocked well. Occasional drops and Jackson pouted too much but this group was special. Anyone who couldn't see that either didn't see them play or hasn't a clue.
  5. I don't know anything about "infidelities".
  6. Eades has no reason for any ill will toward Hakstol. He has no one to blame but himself if he wanted to stay at UND.
  7. I believe this was a shot at the NCAA, not Native Americans. The NCAA took away the name, the Natives didn't. I can understand if someone fussed over the banner we could ask the Gamma Phi's to take it down. That should be the extent of it. Explain to them someone interpreted that as disrespectful and respectfully ask that it be taken down. No reason to punish anyone. If there is required diversity training then it should also include the Native Americans so they might understand why someone wanted the banner in the first place. I have attended diversity training workshops put on for our employees and some were put on by some of the most biased and racially prejudices people who had no interest in peaceful, respectful dialogue between people from different cultures or with different beliefs.
  8. State Football Champions!
  9. Oh man. I thought that was only me brother.
  10. That's hard to believe!
  11. Make sure you have someone else to drive!
  12. Does anyone in N. Dak. have high school Lacrosse ? How many Minnesota or Montana teams? Baseball is our " national past time". Might need to upgrade Kraft so we have artificial turf and then clear it early. There are a lot of hs baseball teams and minimal interest in lacrosse. This years team has some pretty good kids . Deal with the weather and adjust. Very few schools play lacrosse around here. There would be no core local recruiting area. If you think kids wont come here to play baseball why would anyone think kids would come from farther away to play lacrosse?
  13. The Klabo girl from Davies is 6'2" and very athletic. Her Dad Darren played 2 yrs at UND then transferred to Mayville. UND and the Ag school both showing interest.
  14. Don't you have a life? Why would you care?
  15. Tough year to judge. Loss of Brekke as good front line player hurt. Loss of Brekke as senior leader hurt more.
  16. Just gave them away, sorry.
  17. I have 4 tix I will give away, if I am able to contact ticket office to leave them at will call. PM me.
  18. Kretchman kid from Davies is best guard out of N.Dak. In a long time. Only 5' 11" but has quick release, quick first step and is smart. If we have some extra $. We could take a chance on him. I think they said he was going to Moorhead State. Kid can shoot. Not sure how quick he is or if he can play D at this level but he was fun to watch.
  19. UND football in our worst years has not thought they are second rate to anyone. I don't believe UND can decide where NFL scouts want to hold their pro days. NFL scouts attend UND practices and events all of the time. Why would that affect whether or not you contribute to the program? Doesn't make sense. My son-in -law has been in the NFL 11 yrs. in speaking with coaches or team officials over the years they will go where they need to in order to evaluate talent. They will also tell you or your agent where to go for pro days. According to the news paper, Williams from the Ag school attended a pro day in MSP. Pro scouts will get to campus but to have a pro day, they need to coordinate their visits. They are going change their plans cuz UND, NDSU, Mayville State or anyone else says we have a nice facility show up on this day. Flights in and out of the site and the pro days at other schools also affect the schedule.
  20. Game is on ESPNU tonight at 7 pm.
  21. Something wrong here. Can't lose a kid this good. I suggested the coach look at the Detroit Lakes girls. 2 time defending champs with everyone back including a MN state champ. 2 have UND connections. Hutchinson's sister played golf at UND and this one is better. Tschider's Dad played FB at UND. Detroit Lakes has 6 kids who can regularly shoot in the 70's. UND's coach didn't go after them and 2 are going to the Ag School, and Tschider is going to Augustana. Gotta at least make an effort. Best girls golf team in Mn 100 miles away and you get none of them. No wonder Podalak left.
  22. in Isn't it the role of the fans and cheerleaders to fire up the team? It isn't the purpose of the team to fire up the crowd. I thought the self proclaimed " best fans in hockey" have been a bigger disappointment than the team even early in the season. We have not demonstrated we are the best fans in hockey. When we play road games we have demonstrated we have some of the best Alumni in the country who like to get together with their friends from college, and do a much better job of cheering on our teams than our pathetic student section and home fans. These alumni are the same ones who followed our FB, WBB, MBB and hockey teams for years. They show up for hockey but many also show up for basketball and football. When they were students, They could electrify a venue and athletes sensed it and appreciated it. The student section never had to show a lack of class or ignorance by yelling "who's he, he sucks sh-- " when the other team was introduced. That is embarrassing. Our student section can't hold a candle to Wisconsin or Gopher student sections anymore and that didn't used to be the case. The student section has seldom been full all year. The fraternities and sororities used to attend athletic events together. Those are the same alumni who make the effort to attend the road games. We have had a great pep band for years but even they were lackluster last night. We the fans lacked the effort and did nothing to help this team energize. I know they should have had the energy with what was on the line but to win, these guys have to be at their best every shift every period, every game. Frankly, this is not our most talented team in quite some time. They played hard last night they just didn't play well. Students as usual started crude and ignorant with their opening salvo then spent the rest of the game twittering or texting about whatever else holds their limited attention span these days. They don't attend basketball or football either. I'm sure if this team finishes strong in the post season, they will jump back on the band wagon but they do nothing to help.
  23. No you didn't. He got himself fired. Had absolutely nothing to do with you or your so called " good ole boys". Jones isn't going anywhere this year. Some of these folks may actually start believing there is a group of "good ole boys" that drink themselves into oblivion every weekend and can actually get someone fired regardless of whether or not they deserve it. The people who can get Kelly to sit down with Faison to discuss how UND deals with employees are very few and they don't tend to interfere like that.
  24. Kids has quick first step. Squares up nicely on pass protection and keeps feet underneath his shoulders. Keeps feet moving on run blocking and drives defenders down line of scrimmage. He plays til whistle and maybe sometimes beyond. Has quick move when he cut blocks. Keeps hands inside defenders shoulders which should decrease chance of holding calls. Looks like a good get! Doubt he runs a 4.5 forty
