  1. That is believed if you forget the impact of US industrial might and the impact of the Royal Air Force and the the US Army Air Force on Germany's war industry. You also seem to forget It is more likely that if Hitler had let his military commanders do their job they would have taken Moscow instead of the detour to Stalingrad which led to disaster. The Russian winter did as much if not more to hold the Germans at bay than did the Russian Army which had still not regrouped. If you said "if not for the tenacity of the Russian winter, the Germans would have defeated the Russians" I might buy that. If you said "if not for the industrial might of the United States of America" Germany would have won" I would agree. Without the tenacity of the RAF fighter pilots the Luftwaffe would have been a bigger factor in Russia. The United States Military had been neglected by our politicians and we were not prepared to go to war in 1941/1942. Similar to WWI and Vietnam when our politicians had neglected the military. The English, Canadians, Australians, and Americans were all excellent fighters. The Germans were well prepared for war and by 1942 were experienced fighters who killed without regard to rules of engagement. So did the Russians. Once the US was on a war footing we would have been very difficult to defeat.
  2. Detroit Lakes girls team set all-time Mn. state record with a team total of 284 on tough Wildflower course. All six golfers shot below 78. Defending state co-champ shot 4 under 68. Teammates shot 70, 72, 74. Other defending co-champ shot 75 and number 6 kid shot 77. UND women's coach wasn't interested in these kids. I spoke with her last summer about these kids and told her they were interested in UND. The kid who shot 2 under 70 had sister play golf at UND and wanted to come here. Kid who shot 74 had Dad play FB at UND and wanted to come here. This team might be able to win Big Sky this year. 2 time defending champs undefeated last 2 yrs but UND's coach didn't recruit when she could have had at least 2 if not 3 of these kids. Wonder if Faison might take an interest in what the hell is going on. If they aren't going to make an effort they should drop the program.
  3. Couple of thoughts. There is no excuse for bullying and other kids, teachers, administrators, bus drivers should all try and help stop it. Other parents can also be pro active if they wish. This isn't the playground kids get in an argument and call others names it is the daily harassment that no one should have to tolerate especially. Some of you may not realize that laws in Minnesota restrict what the school administrators can do to the perpetrators if they are "special ed" . Those kids can't be expelled or disciplined the asme as the other kids. "Special Ed" designation includes a wide range of kids now including those with emotional or behavioral issues. Not knowing what the parents have done nor how the admin folks tried to respond makes it difficult for those of us on the outside looking in to judge.
  4. This kid is very athletic and I think will be an outstanding player for us.
  5. I speak from a soldier's perspective. The politicians will send our sons and daughters and our military will answer the call. I'm not saying we should or shouldn't go but our military goes where they are told the mission will take them. The question was why we go not should we go. Too many people have an opinion not based on what is right or wrong but based on which party is in power. No matter which side of the political fence you sit on, we must always maintain a strong and ready military. What we as a country have done to our National Guard and Reservists these past 10 yrs is scary. The guard and reserve were never meant to be our frontline military but as a ready reserve in time of need and a home force always ready for our nations defense and emergencies and when necessary to augment our active duty forces. To send these forces for 6-12 months or longer every 2 years is taking a heavy toll. Sioux MD, God Bless him is on his 4th or 5th tour in Iraq and Afghanistan. He serves in the guard. Our politicians think we should cut back our military yet they entertain the idea that we would intervene in Syria or other areas. There are not many combat veterans who support that dumb-ass idea. But no matter what the politicians decide, our kids will strap it on and buckle up and move toward the chaos. We don't get to decide if we want to go nor if we agree with the decision. I don't know if we should intervene in Africa or not but if our kids go, it's likely some will give the ultimate sacrifice. But rest assured they will serve with pride and courage and if anyone can rescue those kids the United States Military is the best in the world. (Makes Natty's and FCS championships irrelevant in the grand scheme of things)
  6. Because as a nation our sons and daughters have been willing to to defend the lives and freedoms of not only our own nations children and people but those of other nations and cultures even when it is not the popular thing to do in the eyes of those who have never been in harms way. I can't imagine the anguish of those families of those children held against their will by violent cowards who hide in the jungles and hills abusing and murdering defenseless human beings. We do this because others don't have the courage or sometimes don't have the resources to take on difficult and dangerous missions. Unfortunately too often with these militant groups our technology won't always penetrate deep into these areas and we don't have the human intelligence often essential to plan a successful mission. I'm afraid this will take "boots on the ground" along with modern technology to get these people. Germany still has some post WWII restrictions and Russia is preoccupied . China doesn't care.
  7. Sioux have interest in Detroit Lakes James Huwe. 6'1" 285 lbs. Great feet, quick, strong. Placed 4th HW Mn State Wrestling Meet as Soph
  8. Mollberg was 3-4 and the 4th was a perfect sideline pass for a first down on 3rd and 13 that was dropped by the receiver. His fifth pass was another completion that was blown dead by an early whistle. Bartels also had an early whistle cost him a completion. I was told Mollberg threw only one pick in spring ball on his last pass Friday. Not sure who told you he hasn't improved. Spring fb isn't for flash and neither was the scrimmage. The defense has improved. They tackled better, and the def backs played good position fb. They didn't let anyone behind them which was a big weakness the last couple of years. Off line still needs work. I don't think Mussman valued the hs kid with big frame and quick feet that needed to gain 40 lbs as much as the 6'5" 290 lb hs kid than can be dominant cuz of size but doesn't have the size to dominate at this level without quick feet. Running backs ran hard. Didn't see breakaway speed but they weren't getting tackled by one arm by defender laying on the ground. Didn't complete any deep passes. Bartels had good zip on TD pass but missed his only pass downfield. He looked stronger than last fall. They threw to TE's more Sat than all of last year. TE's need to get stronger. WR's only dropped the Mollberg pass. I walked away thinking these guys have improved on defense and we still have work to do on both sides but mostly O-line and we lack depth on line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Lots of outside LB's. Too soon to judge other than there is progress. We know what we had last year and what we lost. The guys that are here I believe have improved.
  9. Can't say any group is best. Hardin was All-American. Ran 4.35 at pro day. Jackson was 6'3" 230 lbs and a beast. Golladay is 6'5" great vertical, great athlete and good speed. This was as good a group as you found in college FB with few exceptions. They could all make the highlight real catches and blocked well. Occasional drops and Jackson pouted too much but this group was special. Anyone who couldn't see that either didn't see them play or hasn't a clue.
  10. I don't know anything about "infidelities".
  11. Eades has no reason for any ill will toward Hakstol. He has no one to blame but himself if he wanted to stay at UND.
  12. I believe this was a shot at the NCAA, not Native Americans. The NCAA took away the name, the Natives didn't. I can understand if someone fussed over the banner we could ask the Gamma Phi's to take it down. That should be the extent of it. Explain to them someone interpreted that as disrespectful and respectfully ask that it be taken down. No reason to punish anyone. If there is required diversity training then it should also include the Native Americans so they might understand why someone wanted the banner in the first place. I have attended diversity training workshops put on for our employees and some were put on by some of the most biased and racially prejudices people who had no interest in peaceful, respectful dialogue between people from different cultures or with different beliefs.
  13. State Football Champions!
  14. Oh man. I thought that was only me brother.
  15. That's hard to believe!
  16. Make sure you have someone else to drive!
  17. Does anyone in N. Dak. have high school Lacrosse ? How many Minnesota or Montana teams? Baseball is our " national past time". Might need to upgrade Kraft so we have artificial turf and then clear it early. There are a lot of hs baseball teams and minimal interest in lacrosse. This years team has some pretty good kids . Deal with the weather and adjust. Very few schools play lacrosse around here. There would be no core local recruiting area. If you think kids wont come here to play baseball why would anyone think kids would come from farther away to play lacrosse?
  18. The Klabo girl from Davies is 6'2" and very athletic. Her Dad Darren played 2 yrs at UND then transferred to Mayville. UND and the Ag school both showing interest.
  19. Don't you have a life? Why would you care?
  20. Tough year to judge. Loss of Brekke as good front line player hurt. Loss of Brekke as senior leader hurt more.
  21. Just gave them away, sorry.
  22. I have 4 tix I will give away, if I am able to contact ticket office to leave them at will call. PM me.
  23. Kretchman kid from Davies is best guard out of N.Dak. In a long time. Only 5' 11" but has quick release, quick first step and is smart. If we have some extra $. We could take a chance on him. I think they said he was going to Moorhead State. Kid can shoot. Not sure how quick he is or if he can play D at this level but he was fun to watch.
  24. UND football in our worst years has not thought they are second rate to anyone. I don't believe UND can decide where NFL scouts want to hold their pro days. NFL scouts attend UND practices and events all of the time. Why would that affect whether or not you contribute to the program? Doesn't make sense. My son-in -law has been in the NFL 11 yrs. in speaking with coaches or team officials over the years they will go where they need to in order to evaluate talent. They will also tell you or your agent where to go for pro days. According to the news paper, Williams from the Ag school attended a pro day in MSP. Pro scouts will get to campus but to have a pro day, they need to coordinate their visits. They are going change their plans cuz UND, NDSU, Mayville State or anyone else says we have a nice facility show up on this day. Flights in and out of the site and the pro days at other schools also affect the schedule.
