  1. New Buildings for Medical School Dakota Student Story
  2. Warmer climate? Tropical breeze? Beautiful vistas? Could it be the same reason that NDSU didn't get into the BSC? Geography. The confluence of the interstates has been the impetus for the growth of Fargo.
  3. Perhaps you need to re-read the thread. The only negative thing that I read from anyone other than Bison fans was one person commenting that UND is a hockey first school instead of a football first school and another stating his opinion that most MSU/UM fans would rather see NDSU win in a game against UND. Neither appear to be bashing. http://www.bobcatnation.com/bobcatboard/viewtopic.php?t=7435
  4. Did the Big Sky have to expand? It seems that you are implying that the Big Sky had to expand last year and that UNC was chosen simply because it was closer and thus wouldn't upset the west coast schools. I know the thread on the Montana State board of which you speak. Some Bison fans will go anywhere to bash the Sioux.

I can't see the word millenium and not think of Newmanium.
  6. I recall the Montana State president pushing hard for the 'SU's. But it would seem as the commissioner, Fullerton could have informally polled the presidents to know if there was a remote possiblity for the 'SU's, instead of making them jump through hoops. As I recall the invitation has to be unanimous when UNC got in. If geography was the main drawback, why didn't Fullerton know that some presidents would say no?
  7. If it is location, location, location, why did the Big Sky request all of this information from schools, including SDSU and NDSU, to be considered in the last expansion? As I said in my last post, wouldn't the BSC presidents just need to pull out a map and say that the Dakotas are too far and out of our "footprint"? Not trying to be a smart aleck here, just looking for some conjecture.
  8. Link to the thread regarding Northern Colorado and Denver to the Big Sky and the influence of Altitude Network. UNC/Denver What still perplexes me about the Big Sky is, if geography was the biggest deterent to invitation for both NDSU and SDSU, why have them go through all of the paper work that the Big Sky had them do to be considered? Couldn't the presidents just look at a map and say "Too far"? Bison Dan, you are probably right that it was more wishful thinking than anything else, but I do recall reading something to the effect that the word on the street is that the Bison are a lock for the Big Sky.
  9. It may be easy to say at this time, but think back a couple of years ago and the conventional wisdom had NDSU in the Big Sky. Go back into the Bisonville archives. SU fans were sure they were in the Big Sky.
  10. This is not something that Star2City dreamed up in the last couple of months and has nothing to do with jealousy. If you look back into old threads (I don't have the time right now to do it), Star2City predicted that UNC and Denver would get invites into the Big Sky due to the Altitude Network. UNC got in and Denver was possibly was invited but rejected their invitation. Dig around. It' there. As far as FSSN. You have to admit, that it looks appealing when shopping for a conference.
  11. That's what I get for moving away from GF. I'm out of the loop on what is going on. Thanks for the info.
  12. This sounds like an opportunity for someone. If Whitey's and the Blue Moose teamed up with a shuttle service, they could get people to come out to eat prior to the game and get them back there after the game. You could go further and have a bunch of the bars/restaurants downtown get together on transportation. I know that Bonzer's is still open. Are The Hub and Griggs Landing still around. A couple of stops on the west side of the Red and one stop on the east.
  13. Great response to DYB. Especially this part.
  14. I have read where both schools are looking at leveling off around 14,000 to 15,000. Who gets there first doesn't really matter, if that is where they are both heading. Insofar as growth, UND had a huge graduating class last spring and increased admissions standards. With both of those factors UND still only declined less than 1%. Further, both schools need to have sustainable growth or they will both go back to having kids living in hotels. Not a good thing. Size of school: Look at Auburn and Alabama. Auburn, I believe is the land grant school, is slightly larger than Alabama (main campus). Do you think that either school really cares? No, they are both great schools, just as UND and NDSU are. The schools in North Dakota, just as the schools in Alabama have different missions and different paths. I have read where the most ardent NDSU supports are totally enamored with Chapman and the job that he has done and laugh at UND with Kupchella. I happen to think that Kupchella has done and continues to do a great job for the U. Look at all of the great news that has come out in the two week regarding UND. He clearly is doing something right. Keep it up President Kupchella.
  15. I don't doubt that NDSU is trying to put together something similar, but the thing that has made FSSN great is hockey. This year there are over 20 games on FSSN for just hockey alone. Add in any football and basketball and you probably have near 30 games. What do the Bison have like five or six home football games per year? I just don't see the same thing from a Bison sports network as what the Sioux have with FSSN, unless of course Bison basketball becomes a huge draw. Even then you have Bison basketball competing with Sioux hockey. I think we would agree that Sioux hockey would win that showdown.
  16. I know that KGFE and WDAZ from Grand Forks are both part of Winnipeg's basic cable. How does FSSN tie in with WDAZ for broadcasting into the Winnipeg market?
  17. You have it backwards. If I had "little brother syndrome", I would be over on your board saying how great I was and that you stink. The opposite is actually true here. You are on the Sioux board stating your prediction wish. Have a good day little brother.
  18. I changed your post to what you really wanted it to say. Remind me to take you off my Christmas card list.
  19. Thanks to both y'all. Live in the south, gotta say it.
  20. Media day from an outsider. Impressions of the Ralph
  21. With the population of ND stagnant, UND will continue to bring in students from out of state. With which states does UND currently have reciproctiy? Is there any agreement with Manitoba? If not, is it even possible? I can see a lot of Winnipeg kids wanting to come to UND, as I remember that there were quite a few in the early 80's when I was in school. With the game against Manitoba coming up this weekend, this topic came to mind.
  22. Jaws of life required to open my wallet. Family joke. The next couple of years should be interesting and exciting.
