I think LeftyZL did a good job of explaining the SOS, but I wanted to throw in my two cents. Nano, if you go to the Massey website that you referenced click on the column for schedule you will see that NDSU had the 19th toughest schedule in Division I-AA, with an overall SOS at 137. The Sicatoka was correct in his assessment that even though NDSU, SDSU and UNC have left the NCC, UND had nearly as tough SOS at 148. In fact, if you look through the SOS, you will see NCC teams at 139, 144, 146, 148, 149 and 155. NDSU has had tougher schedules than this year. I didn't see where either The Sicatoka or LeftyZL were trying to diminish NDSU's performance. It was strictly talk about the schedule strength.

On the contrary. I think that the Bison had a great year and should be proud. Yes, I'll agree that the 5,073 is embarrassing. When I lived in GF, I never missed a game no matter who the opponent or what the weather was and that was at Memorial. But I also think you are comparing apples and oranges when you are talking about attendance. You are comparing a regular season game to which the students get in free early in the season to a playoff game to which the students would have to pay against a team we had already beaten soundly (49-2). As I said previously in this thread, we may not win a championship this year, but it is apparent that the overall level of competition is sliding. I am off the fence about the move to Division I and am willing to fork over more money to the U to pay for it.

Seminole fan here in Pensacola. Typically, one team is a little bit better than the other on paper, but you can throw that away for the game. Not this year, Gators are going to beat up on the Noles. Actually since Spurrier left, I kind of like the Gators. Just couldn't stand Spurrier.

Prior to going Division I, NDSU's attendance was starting to dwindle. They weren't winning conference championships, but they were still one of the top conference teams on a yearly basis. Since the change to Division I, both NDSU and to a lesser extent SDSU have seen an increase in football attendance. I think you will see the same for UND. When NDSU made the move, I was on the fence about whether UND should be moving also. The past couple of years have proven that they made the move at the right time for them. I'm not saying that we will win the national championship this year, but the game and competition yesterday proved that we are in the wrong classification. A playoff game should be able to have more than 5000 in attendance and would with better competition.

My comment regarding the REA was on the revenue side, since in the last IAC meeting there was a note that they received more money than expected from REA. I don't think that the expense side of REA is part of the overall budget for UND.
