  1. Yes, they have a contract with ESPN, but you are already talking how they may alter it for 24 teams. What other alterations could they make? Lockout the G5’s completely? The Big Boys are calling the shots and can do what they want, because they have the money to do it.
  2. Not buying that timeline. Things seem to be happening fast and somewhat unpredictable. Who would have predicted 5-6 years ago that four members of the Pac10 would be in the Big 10? Money is making things move rapidly. The Big 10 and SEC are running things, not the NCAA and they can make their own rules.
  3. Going back to those who were disparaging SiouxVolley aka Star2City. He had a vision of using the dying WAC and reconfiguring it with FCS schools to make a nice western FBS conference. Isn't that pretty much what is happening to the WAC, being rebranded as the UAC? Just moved it East.
  4. The current and and expected future of college football turmoil reminds of the Fire Sale part of Margin Call. Caution these is some course language here.... The ground is shifting beneath our feet.
  5. As has been reported, in all likelihood there will be a big shakeup/split between the Big Boys and the rest of FBS in the not too distant future. What happens to the rest of the FBS? Does it merge with some of the FCS conferences? If UND is not looking to go full throttle toward the FBS model following NDSU, positioning still needs to happen for the future. What about partnering with SDSU and look west and a return to the Big Sky? The Big Sky is losing Sacramento State and likely UC Davis in the next couple of years. Can Cal Poly be far behind? They may need some new blood to keep things moving. That would position us with the Montanas should there be a fracture in the FBS.
  6. Goalie change?
  7. I heard this song today and it reminded of Sioux hockey. I didn't know where to put it, so just landed it here.., Rock 'n' Roll (Part 2) Let's go Sioux!!
  8. Nice second half.
  9. I cannot believe that you are coming over to SiouxSports to denigrate a former member here, who passed away suddenly a few years ago. I found SiouxVolley to be a thoughtful person who spent a lot of time thinking through scenarios that would benefit UND. Some of his ideas were really out there and some made a lot of sense. I always enjoyed reading his posts. NDSU has made their move and now it rests on the other Dakota schools to look ahead to their own futures. Move along and don't let that door hit you on your backside.
  10. I found this piece to be interesting... https://www.extrapointsmb.com/p/north-dakota-state-is-finally-going-fbs-so-what-s-next I don't think UND can find that kind of money laying around.
  11. Maybe not exactly the same, but close. I traveled to Puerto Rico last month for the first time. Absolutely loved the place. Just a 2 1/2 hour flight from Miami to San Juan. Since Puerto Rico is a US territory , no passport required. The only Tropical Rain Forest in the US National Forest system.... https://www.fs.usda.gov/r08/elyunque
  12. Here is your chance to voice your opinions to UND in an open forum... UND to hold open forum Feb. 5 for public's thoughts on next campus master plan
  13. Looks like changes are coming for UND basketball/volleyball.... UND targeting Betty Engelstad Sioux Center for next athletics facility project
  14. Are they getting close to making Brawndo the official drink?
  15. Augustana is having a pretty good year, so far, for a fairly recent addition to D1 hockey. They are currently ranked #17. With that being said, I went over to the Sioux Falls newspaper site, the Argus Leader, to see how they are reporting it. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places, but I don't see that they are really being covered at all. It seems to be pretty heavy on basketball, but they have very little on Augie hockey. Kind of sad.
  16. I like the ISU quarterback, Rittenhouse. He is a never-say-die kind of guy. Throws 5 interceptions against NDSU and still pulls out a win. He did get a lot of help from the ISU defense, though.
  17. I live in the South where football is a religion. When I tell people down here that I went to UND they ask me if that is that D2 school that's really good in football. So yes, they have heard that there is a school in North Dakota that is good at football. They can't tell you which school it is, nor can they tell you what division in which they play.
  18. Kaminski is 1-7-1 for 2 yards so far this game. Time for a change.
  19. Score is now 35-0. 10 minutes left in the half and SDSU has -4 yards of offense. UND better be ready for an angry bunny team next week.
  20. Are you currently using NavisWorks for clash detection? I can see Navis getting more AI driven.
  21. As AI threatens white-collar work, more young Americans choose blue-collar careers
  22. I have been having conversations with my children and friends about what AI means for their future and which jobs will be impacted the most and least by AI. My children are of the age where they will start choosing careers. I have a daughter that I was pushing toward paralegal a couple of years ago, since she had a mind for that type of work. She thankfully wasn't interested. I met a judge at a conference last month who told me that with AI, paralegals wouldn't be really needed anymore. Most of the research will be done with AI. He even said that he had AI produce a judgement for one of his cases, just to test it. Results were in line with what he had determined. I have a son in college and he hears other students using ChatGPT for their studies/papers. The instructors see this as inevitable. Education will suffer. I was talking to an associate last week regarding fire alarm design. He said that there is a CAD program update with AI coming out that will review your drawings and provide comments, typically what a reviewing engineer would do. I see the trades as being somewhat immune to AI. How will jobs such as marketing and finance do in the AI workplace? Other jobs? Thoughts?
  23. And another solid piece on growth at UND....At Wake Up to UND, President Andrew Armacost tells attendees there's 'no better place to be' than UND It looks like UND is on a nice trajectory.
  24. Nice piece on how UND got to where we are today...Record enrollment just part of the story
