Yes, but one of us was serious and the other sarcastic.

Yes, the government has done a fine job of running the VA, we should have them do all of healthcare.

I just learned last week that our current insurance plan is going to go up 40% and this is with a $4,000 deductible. I still can't get past how we got the ACA. All of the Washington 2-step getting it passed or "deemed approved" at some point, as a fee and then Roberts comes out and says that it okay, because it was a tax, not a fee. If is is a tax, doesn't the bill have to start from the House and not the Senate? The current Supreme Court has gutted the constitution and doing whatever the hell they want to do. As Scalia said, words no longer have meaning.

Agreed. I mentioned Louisiana's jungle primary once before in this forum, which is what you would have with multiple options. Using last year's election as an example, Landrieu got the most votes on election day of the eight candidates, but didn't get a majority of the votes (she got 42%), which required a run-off election between the two candidate with the most votes. When it was just an election between the two top vote getters, she got beat 56-44. A final vote between two would be best.

The 180,000 came from the original Icon description. http://iconarchitects.com/projects/masterplan/indoor-practice-facility.html It must have grown over time.
-
Seats are supposed to be in this phase. I read 180,000 somewhere, but it may have been an old figure.

There is big and there is BIG. When SDSU opened their indoor facility last year, it was the largest in Division I, at 149,000 square feet. UND's is 180,000 square feet.

I know I am going to get blasted for this, but here it goes anyway... So since the North won the war against the South, all memorials and flags for the South should be removed and bases renamed, etc.? Yet, having the Sioux logo/name and a statue of Sitting Bull sitting in front of the REA is okay? Didn't the American Indians lose too? To be clear, I am not against the Sioux name/logo. I am now hearing that there are folks who want to tear down the Jefferson Memorial because he was a slave holder and even more far-fetched, rename Washington DC, since Washington had slaves. They will probably do away with the phrase "Whistling Dixie", because it is racist.

Do you mean like this??... Destruction of private property must be the answer.\s

I have a quote from Thomas Jefferson in my signature line along those lines... Thomas Jefferson... "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." Bring back Liberty. We are heading down the wrong path in regards to liberty and tyranny. I asked some of the questions, that Dice asked, in my office and I got some of the same responses that Dice got. Not surprisingly, the people that didn't know, don't vote the same way that I do. I then went home and asked my kids the questions. They knew the answers and started telling me that July 2nd really should have been Independence Day, since that is when the founding fathers voted on it and that Adams wanted July 2nd to be THE day. Teach your children and we may be able to turn this boat around one day.

Happy 4th of July to all!! I found this interesting...

A good nickname/logo can bring a lot of $$ to the school, if marketed well. I think the consultants and the committee erred by including both Fighting Hawks and Green Hawks. Replacing the word Sioux with Hawks after the word Fighting is unimaginative. Almost as unimaginative as using the school color with Hawks. A lame weather phenomenon as a nickname/logo? Uh... No. Lame name and limited marketing potential. I just don't see am lot of $$$ coming to UND, marketing it as Nodaks or just North Dakota. With North Stars being a Minnesota thing, that leaves Roughriders. Of the seven remaining, I see it as the one with the most marketing potential and revenue generator.

http://www.gilderlehrman.org/history-by-era/slavery-and-anti-slavery/resources/was-slavery-engine-american-economic-growth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_gin In regards to the welfare system, you have generations of entrenched poverty where they know nothing, but the handout. Dads are not part of the family. Single moms raising kids with Uncle Sam as the dad. 72% of black babies are born to unmarried mothers. The break-up of the nuclear family can be traced back to the programs of the 1960's.

True!

Yes, that must be it.

Slavery is an ugly part of America's past, but was also what built America to become an economic power. Not proud of it, but is true. You can also trace a lot of today's social problems to the all of the social programs that the Federal government has implemented since the 1960's.

I do not consider either man to be a traitor. They were both fighting for what they thought was right and thought they had legal and moral justification to do so. The Civil War was about many things, not just slavery, not just because Lincoln won. There were social and economic differences between the North and the South. The South thought they had the right to secede according to the Declaration of Independence, "the right of the people to alter or abolish it". States rights was a major and probably the largest issue at the time. That issue is once again very prevalent. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Was George Washington considered a traitor? I'm sure the Brits considered him to be one. http://www.vahistorical.org/collections-and-resources/virginia-history-explorer/american-turning-point-civil-war-virginia-1/who
