Hey, you are not offending me. I am not artistic enough to be offended. I just don't think you can take something like a north arrow as being offensive, as that is essentially what I have done, taken a north arrow from a CAD program and put on UND's existing athletic logo. Maps all over the world have North arrows on them. North just happens to be in the state name and the arrow seems to work well with the current logo.

They are not nicknamed the feathers, closer to the comparison.

From the NCAA website... "Colleges and universities may adopt any mascot that they wish, as that is an institutional matter," said Walter Harrison, chair of the Executive Committee and president at the University of Hartford. "But as a national association, we believe that mascots, nicknames or images deemed hostile or abusive in terms of race, ethnicity or national origin should not be visible at the championship events that we control." I don't see how an arrow can be assigned to a race, ethnicity or national origin. The idea of Arrows came to my mind while reading Robin Hood with my son.

Correct. I drew the logo in AutoCAD modifying a standard north arrow detail.

Looks better with black background.

I found the question that Tom Miller answered was a bit out there.... Everyone?? Come on. There are very few here who think Jones should be fired. He recruits well and finishes near the top of the conference.

I haven't put one in the mix for a while. Phantoms or Green Phantoms Perhaps UND could get Rolls Royce as a sponsor.

Sounds very similar to Florida Amendment 1. Initiative Information Whenever you see "clean water" in a measure or amendment, run. The environuts all use that language.

Regarding the name, i would prefer to use something that plays to North Dakota's history.. Cavalry, Scouts, Explorers. Not a fan of Roughriders. I went to RRHS. If we are going for an animal Nokotas or Owls. If going to the future.. Wildcatters for the oil/energy industry.

To back up what Chewey wrote....http://www.weartv.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/uwf-faculty-members-explain-reasoning-vote-no-confidence-bense-49483.shtml#.VCF6h0NsKBg There was also a piece in the UWF newspaper, the Voyager, that was scathing. I have not seen it online, just in print. I have friends who are college professors and they are not pleased with UWF starting football. One of them termed football as "the religion of the south". It takes away resources and focus from academics.

From the North Dakota Hymn Onward, onward, onward going, Light of courage in thine eyes, Sweet the winds above thee blowing, Green thy fields and fair thy skies; North Dakota, North Dakota, Brave the soul that in thee lies. As FU folks love to point out green and pink are UND's official colors, for the prairie rose, green prairies and rosy prospects. It also includes skies.... Big Sky.

My view from 2000 miles away... When I first read that UND agreed to two games in Fargo, I thought the UND athletic department made a mistake. I didn't think they should capitulate and should wait until the terms were more even. I have changed my mind. It obviously has impacted UND in a positive way and NDSU in a negative. It has created a positive buzz for UND. Why did the NDSU big wigs look like someone peed in their Wheaties at the press conference? It "appears" that there were some big time supporters that weren't pleased with NDSU making this deal. They tried to distance themselves from the agreement at the press conference. It wasn't us, uh, it was Taylor who put it together and it was just to fill a slot in 2015. There was no excitement about the game or what it means to the state of North Dakota. There were NDSU folks who thought that they had created separation between them and UND and this agreement killed that. UND doesn't even have to win the game next year. Separation real or imagined is gone. All because a bunch of guys playing golf said lets get a deal done.

I haven't been paying attention to what is going on in North Dakota, I guess, but I just heard about Measure 3 which would replace Section 6 Article VIII of the ND Constitution. I think we can all agree that the Board has been somewhat dysfunctional going back to the Potts/Chapman debacle. The Board may need fixing, but I don't think this is the answer. The first thing that jumped our at me in Measure 3 was the word "sites" in the first paragraph... The way the constitution presently reads.. The schools are listed, not "sites", in the current constitution. Why the change? A three member commission to run the University system? Sounds pretty easy for a politician to control. Speaking of politicians, let's see who supports this change.... Al Carlson and Tony Grindberg are two of the names on the list. We all know how much Al Carlson "helped" in the Sioux name issue. Grindberg is the director of NDSU Research and Technology Park. Too much consolidation of power and I don't care for the who or how they are consolidating it. I know that there are some in North Dakota that would like to reduce the number of higher eduction schools. I can see this being used as a way of doing that among other things. Also along the lines of the SBoHE, Rob Port of the Sayanthingblog has audio from the last meeting http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/higher-ed/ The Board and it's consultant had some comments about the Higher Ed presidents and in particular the NDSU President. Change is needed. Measure 3 isn't it.

I'm not sure who the "we" is you are talking about. From your past postings, I highly doubt that you are a true fan of UND and it's athletics. A story on the rankings..... Smaller area colleges rank high regionally; UND, NDSU didn't do so well

From 2012 to 2013... UND 170 to 173... Down 3 NDSU 184 to 190... Down 6 SDSU 199 to 201... Down 2 USD 199 to 190... Up 9 Montana 199 to 201.. Down 2 Montana St. 190 to 199... Down 9 Keep in mind that 201 is the bottom of the ranking index. So it appears that USD is the only one going in the right direction.
