  1. I don't know what to make of this... Dieter ‏@dieter_grimm Jan 26 Truly blessed to receive a letter from University of North Dakota! #UND
  2. Why not? Slippery Rock is "The Rock".
  3. There is that Arrow again.
  4. The UND Arrows idea didn't "fly" real well overall with the masses. How about using the same Arrow logo with University of North Dakota Fighting Nords. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nord Obviously folks can pervert Nords to Nerds, but as someone already mentioned you can probably pervert any name chosen.
  5. One of my favorites from back in the 90's was Todd Johnson. The kid could shoot, rebound and defend.
  6. My biggest issue with the name Roughriders is that isn't even unique in it's own town. I know that it has been pointed out that there are other places where the HS adopted the same name as the college, but vice versa? UND has a chance to have a unique name. Let's not settle for a name that is going to cause confusion when you open your GF Herald sports page and say "which Roughriders?". I have had a lot of nicknames ideas over the years, some good and some really bad, but UND Arrows with the modified interlocking "ND", I believe, has the most potential. http://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/9644-random-nickname-ideas/?p=744879
  7. Since some folks here like the name UND Roughriders, I did a domain search on undroughriders and found that it is already registered by 1 & 1 INTERNET AG.
  8. Vote for Pedro, I mean gfhockey..
  9. Gruber.
  10. You are missing out on a revenue stream of rolling out a new name/logo. Just "North Dakota" will be more difficult to market.
  11. FAMU is the Rattlers.
  12. Less than an hour from my house to Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Count me in. SiouxVolley is right about the seafood joints along the Mobile Bay Causeway. Great food!
  13. I found a couple of links to King Leo's ..... http://www.centralhighfargo58.org/andi20070505.htm including a picture.. http://www.alltravels.com/united-states/north-dakota/grand-forks/photos/current-photo-33817910
  14. I did an image search for Auto Dine on Google and found this It looks like Crown Motor Co., across from GF Welding, now occupies the odd shaped building that was once Auto Dine. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Crown+Motor+Co/@47.932854,-97.053925,146m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x52c6814d7a7de73d:0x851866781898cd13
  15. Auto Dine was on south side of Gateway. A and W was on the north side and further west.
  16. I remember Auto Dine being on Gateway just west of Washington. Did King Leo's preceed that?
  17. I lived a block from the Valley Dairy with the milk carton on it, dating back to the mid 60's.
  18. I remember King Leo's in GF right a across from Henry's Hamburgers. Henry's was torn down down to make way for Sambo's and King Leo's replaced by Burger King. Sambo's is now Gramma Butterwicks.
  19. Once upon a time I used to be a huge Seminole fan. I got tired of every year having players ineligible for the bowl games and all of the other shenanigans. Bobby Bowden would defend the spoiled brats. I got completely turned off. We stopped at some friends house earlier in the evening, here in Florida, and both of them said that they were rooting against FSU because of all of the crap and how Jimbo runs a shoddy program. At this point I don't care whether they win or lose anymore.
  20. Agreed. Just providing an idea for those who think it necessary.
  21. UND didn't have a mascot with Fighting Sioux. For Arrows, how about an archer. Cheers will come from the fans.
  22. I figured that you would be adding to the conversation at that point.
  23. I recognize that, but when you say Arrowhead Stadium, people think of Chiefs.
  24. Memorial Stadium should stay Memorial Stadium until/unless someone gives a large donation to renovate the facility, which would allow them to place their name on it. I prefer not to have Arrows associated with NA. As I have said before, arrows have been used for thousands of years by many cultures and the name cannot be claimed by the NA.
