    Pairwise

I'm just hoping for a Yale win today, a UNH loss on Tuesday, and a handfull more of Sioux wins and we'll have an NCAA lock. I like the sound of Four wins till the NC$$ but will take Six. We win three and I'll go on record that we'll be playing in the Sweet 16.

  3. Actually there's 58 D1 Men's hockey teams, so I'd rank St. Clown as 59th academically or athletically oh, and don't worry about the protestors. Last time I was there they were distracted by the pizza boxes down by the zamboni entrance To answer some of the other questions on here; 1. The standing room only ticket is the only way to go in my opinion. It was $8 when I've gone. 2. When I've gone, Sioux fans have made a big impact vocally sometimes rivaling the home team. Make sure you yell SIOUX at the end of the anthem. They love that! That's if that tradition is politically acceptable to you. 3. Oh, and another reason St. Clown is called JBSU, anyone that can get their *** handed to them by their little brother Bobby definitely gets, 'No Respect'.
  4. Dave, I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. When the kids in the Flyers and other Fargo programs start to play a bit more 'unorganized' hockey they'll start to compete at the same level for longer. The three to four hockey practices plus a game(s) per week just isn't taking anyone to the show. If the Fargo Park District doesn't want to be involved in youth hockey that's fine, but start to resurface the outdoor rinks more than once a week. I will agree with the quantity reference to some degree. The only thing wrong with that is that is the youth programs stance on competition. Where are the kids in Fargo going to play if they can't make the elite teams at the squirt/pee wee level? Quantity has to raise the bar not just fill it. Fargo is a FOOTBALL TOWN. Maybe in 10-15 years the buzz of hockey right now in Fargo will translate, but the feeder system for Fargo hasn't been good enough to support your short term window of domination. Danny Irmen, Moorhead's success and the Sioux program of late have definitely defined some dreams for kids so time will tell. People in Fargo look at me like I'm from Mars when I suggest we should have some practices outside, that the kids should all get more ICE TIME together without parents and coaches, OUTSIDE. This is the major difference between GF and Fargo. The Flyers have elevated awareness for hockey in Fargo but at the same time, the raiders and patriots have been ostracized as 'lesser' groups. We got ice time, yes we do. We got new equipment, how bout you? Growing up, Central and RR had these same issues but the town embraced them, not factions. The frame of mind of a lot of the parents is elitest. May we remind them that hockey should be and has until recently been a blue collar sport. Moorhead, Grand Forks, Warroad, Roseau... These are the communities that embrace hockey and take it to the 'FANATIC' zone. Thanks for listening.

Mr. Miller said he won't be able to recap the coaches show tonight. Was anyone able to listen? If so, can you give any other insights? Thanks
  6. I won't give you how I know my answer, but this is incorrect. He's been playing a while.

    INCH's 4x4

Relax, INCH is an ESPN affilitate and we all know how much they know over there about college hockey. INCH's picks are cannonfodder at best. Just like any predictors or columnists, they are correct less than 50% of the time, so just give us a coin to flip.
  8. Prices are higher in GF because of two things. 1. Like Lefty said, if a company can cut the mid distribution out they make an additional profit. 2. #2 is tied to #1. Fargo is the last main distribution point in the northern central states. Talk to the owner of the Stamarts/Green Mill and Stop-N-Go's in Fargo if you want to see a price change up in GF. They also own the major companies recieving bulk supply for distribution.
  9. I would also like to welcome Jonathon if he indeed choses to come here. BTW, speaking of the above Russ Parent, is he related to Ryan Parent of the Guelph Storm? Anyone know? Russ would've had to have been 19 when he had him but like they say, "What else is there to do in Canada but play hockey, get pissed, and have sex?" Oh, and don't forget our current player with ties to Winnepeg, Travis Zajac.
  10. Thanks Mr. Miller. Good sit down with Stafford. Drew interviews very well and has a lot of poise for his age. He gave a little insight, had the necessary reserve when criticizing and poignantly critiqued the levels of play. What I infer from his interview on the whole is that the coaching staff was the let down of the US team. I was very surprised during the tournament with how the team was handled. While Drew defends this coach from ESPN, he also inadvertly draws a sharp comparison between this years and last year coaching. Personally, I had agreed with ESPN's take on the USA Hockey organization and some of the decisions made. While I am very proud of our local Brian Lee; other choices available probably could've produced a stronger defensive core than Lee and three of the other defencemen, LIKENS, HAGEMO, & GOLIGOSKI. Drews comment on Sandelin's choice to, "...put a lot of responsibility on the players to get ready themselves and know what they have to do themselves instead of having a coach always telling them exactly what to do." I think this was a mistake. Our team talent depth wasn't great enough for this approach. Sande is a good coach. Was he ready for something of this magnitude? Obviously USA Hockey wasn't. Having this tournament in the states (defenders of the gold) and seeing the importance Canada brought to this event, this was almost an embarassment. I'm not saying the US's talent level could have been better? Just better managed. Could the US have done better? Maybe. Probably. BUT, the Canadians were by far the best team. All I know is going to 16 fantastic hockey games over the holidays, including all of the US games, and shaking the great one's hand was one of the best experiences for me to date. Thanks to all of the US players for the effort you did put in. Thank you Drew for being such a great person face to face and for being part of the Fighting Sioux. We're very proud! Go USA!!! Go Sioux!!
  11. What would this board think/do if something that has not even been pondered in this thread happens? A UND sweep. I know it doesn't roll off the tongue first but....your thoughts. I'd rather not hear about pigs and the moon or ice in hell. Looking for constructive thoughts about how this may happen.

  13. Don't remember past Sioux verbals changing their minds, although it has probably happened. Blais dropped L. Beaverson from the Gamblers. AAU picked him up.
  14. Eades is a forward. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  15. Spiewak had an injured foot and missed several games. Not sure if he's back on the ice yet or not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  16. If you're using the Animal House metaphor then I quess it depends on whose perspective your looking from. From Belusi's perch up on Coast-to-Coast and later driving away in the white convertable, only to become a senator. I'd say he had a pretty clear view of the future. It all boils down to how passionate you are vs how much you want to anal-ize things. Go give Bjorkman a call to discuss your insecurities, Hak doesn't have his number though so don't ask him for it. BDB, You're entitled to your opinion. I do disagree and feel you're wrong though. I'll eat my hat if we get swept in CC, but... "That's just not gonna happen. You and I both know it." "USA Hockey,... Please hold"
  17. Sadly, what fans think has absolutely no influence on what players decide to do. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  18. Considering a coaching change of any kind I think the Sioux are doing fine. Hak is doing as well as can be expected. Gino may have done much better in his first year being just one goal away from beating the goofs, but his team even finished with only 42 points. There is still 20 points left for the Sioux to grab and I've been saying all along (maybe not to this board) that we have one of the best chances in the last few years of going into April. The dissapointments will fuel the fire. 8 seniors thinking "ah whatever' in our last games down the stretch. Nope. Growing pains that's all. Hak gets a B-/C+ Premiere program or not, the most points any team in the WCHA has recieved in a single season is 48. Not one team is coming even close to that mark this year, period. I'd say they'll finish in the real low forties, tops. That being said, the Sioux'll finish fine. Even if we only take 10 of the last avail. 20 points, I'd take some big upsets and consistent winning from the lower third for us not to have home ice in March.
  19. The AD down in Kato thought they could drum up some support from the non-goofer fans in the twin cities. Or at least get some further exposure. It might work too, some of the biggest supporters of "any other team but them" come from gopherville. but no really i doubt it. The biggest let down is the couple tens of thousands of dollars in concessions missed out on down in the hometown ice. way to go flo.
  20. Since this is a kessel/crosby post Crosby is better, but... Bergeron is the better player between the two canucks. I don't care about the couple of years more experience. Crosby will be the next Jagr at best. He's definitely no Gretzky or Lemieux.
  21. What was funny at Saturday's game was the bauched attempts of the studogs making up ridiculous chants. The best was "We got trees". Seconded only by the "Sioux are people" (stolen from St. Clown) and sharply followed by "Sioux Suck" (stolen from Moo U). This was definitely the greatest juxtaposition all year, seconded only by the REA playing the Herb Brooks speech from 'Miracle' to stir up the Sioux fans while they were playing the Brown and Yellow. Dogz, don't get mad, UMD is always fun to play.
