Alright, this was funny. And a great way to start off this particular day I might add. Sportcenter this morning. Kudos to Thomas Vanek for making #9 on the top ten plays. The great hidden treasure was the following: John Buccigros, "#9. U2's in Buffalo Thursday night. Thomas Vanek former Minnesota Gopher..." John Anderson, "Dirty Gophers." I couldn't believe my ears. I saw this at 4:50, then watched it again at 5:50 and 6:50 just to make sure I heard correctly. YEP! DIRTY GOPHERS!

I'm not sure if balancing Doug/Frank is the goal or balancing Frank out. Let Doug moderate. Other than play by play action, wouldn't it seem worthy to have discussion from either side of a game as to who is playing better? Justification for good/bad play? Rationalization of stats? Part of the inherent quality of a debate is to help the audience gravitate towards an idea. If homerism is played out to a hockey audience from both sides of the coin, both sides will win in the end. Fans will sort for themselves the most blatant form of rubes and cast them away. The home audience will gravitate towards the inevitable, but have a more enlightened perspective of their own team. The opposite opinion may also bring the sides more of a healthy disdain for each other. I personally have no allegiance to a dislike for any team although if there is anything there, it's against the gophers. Do I dislike the gophers, dam-straight! Do I also know that uMN has a good program, sure. Knowing more of the facts is why any of us come onto these boards and sound-off or just listen. It validates the experience to KNOW something about hockey, the players, and the league vs. just FEELING that you love one team and hate the other. I would enjoy something other than the comic/straightman act most arenas put together, including Greg/Pat. Woog does a great job of calling the game and corrects Frank in his homerisms when called for. The same can be said of Pat/Greg. A third party to counter Frank and Pat would be great for an informed opinion from the other side, whether right on the money or off-base. Pang, Melrose, and others are always challenged on their differences with the NHL, why not the same thing with college? There is always talk about how poorly the NCAA represents hockey with the commentators during the playoffs. They know little or nothing about other (or any) players, clubs, or conferences. If I'm wrong about what OBG's position or intent was, ok. This is the take I got.

Glad to see the king of sanity, rationalizations and justifications is back. The siouxfan's ethics committee needs a new chair, would you like to head it? Oh, and with what UND has been going through in the last four-five months you're in good company. You seem to be more interested in policing and talking about fan participation than anything about hockey so why the Hockey1 moniker? Go back to your gopherhole and dispense your garble there. We all know our own announcers are homers, it didn't look like that was OBG's stance. Having a third party for commentating would be a great addition to any games NCAA wide. Skip & Woody aren't popular for their hairdos.

Wow, not only are you old, you're out of the loop too!

Melissa, When is someone going to step up and pay you to travel and take the pictures you do? You do a wonderful job. I personally appreciate the validation shots of Fabians goal last spring. Travel safe and enjoy the weekend.

Actually, I somewhat agree. I was there too. Most of the fans were cheering against the Sioux (when a goal against them was scored), you were the minority. It's ok though, don't make excuses for other fans. We can cheer against each other that's ok. The only problem I have with that 5-2 loss is that Ferris sucked, we lost, the Sioux section was taunted by a couple of goons five rows up from the glass that can't count, and we were approached and villified several times in the concourse. Other than that, it was at the M, you were cheering for the Sioux, and I'm sure some of the same will happen to uMN should they be placed at the REA come March.

Fargo by way of Central Park. Oh and the sweet lady to my right is from East side.
-
To add a bit of history I didn't see in the media release, Rube Bjorkman was the head coach of the Wildcats from 64-68 just before coming to UND.

This stance you take has no merit. Do you think people wear green wigs to support you as a Sioux? Therein lies your falsehood. Disconnect the people supporting their school with their support of school colors with their pride in their nickname. People that wear wigs and paint their faces at the events aren't supplanting themselves in your culture or trying to emulate it. They are just having a good time supporting their school. School support and nickname support can be autonomous. You can throw out your "green wigs are part of the problem" theory.

This one I can't let go because I'd like to see you "truly" practice your spiritual faith disconnected from your land. You move away and it's dishwater.

Jankus just scored for Maine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 3-1 above Denver.
-
Oh, but wait; both the Sioux and uMN have sent roughly the same amount to the pros. That would make either point mute. The real difference is that uMN and the others have always been pissed Denver and UND recruited in Canada but it's all arrogant blabber to me. Aren't there more people in Minneapolis/St. Paul proper than all of ND? Even so, almost 15% of the Sioux have been from GGF. Go figure.

If you're willing to post a link or the fight file in this thread, then yes it belongs. I'd love to see that again. Oh but wait! If you're going to be in MPLS for the Women's FF, then you'll miss the Men's regional at the Ralph. You can't be in two places at one time!!! Nevermind, you're a mom, you'll figure it out.
-
I agree. If the game is never going to let girls check, cut the blades off their sticks and throw a ring out on the ice. It's not the same game without it.
-
I'd say jaw dropping summarizes it. 2004-05 Stats Monique Lamoureux F 7/3/89 5'6" Grand Forks, ND 57g 56a 113pts Jocelyne Lamoureux F 7/3/89 5'6" Grand Forks, ND 47g 55a 102pts Oh, and 114 &118 PIM
-
Oh, knock it off. Kessel's not a defencemen or a goalie. His mom is the goalie.
-
Now just to make sure, there isn't anyone on the team named "Reed" running this race right? Just for those that think I'm insensitive on this, it's meant as a joke.
-
And that'll still be beating by the Sioux since Lee Goren is one of their main men.
-
...,but wait... is that a Sioux-per Puck?
-
I'm not sure, but it seems they're doing a bit of house cleaning over there. Two of the admin. women, Rachel Braaten and Tanya Kunta, are both gone. They were both always more than helpful and very professional.
-
Actually, a more constructive top ten would be reasons behind changing the name. Or at least a top three or so. I can't recall many of those points being brought up AND justified.
-
Probably because Sioux Nation Councils represent a suposedly sovereign nation. BTW, were you really there?

I guess I don't remember anyone posting this tidbit about Colby Genoway. From August 15th: http://www.courant.com/sports/hockey/wolfp...dlines-wolfpack
