  1. I think Hrkac was inducted to the Sioux Hall of Fame last year so they showed clips of his on the ice accomplishments. During one scene the camera is on him and he's skating, stickhandling and darting from side-to-side and initially I thought it was just him during pre-game warmups, but the camera pulls back and shows that it's DURING a game and he was just leaving the opponent behind, cutting through them like a hot knife through butter. When he was going good like that, he looked like he was the ONLY one out there. No one could stop him!!!
  2. Gotta be either Parise, Toews or Hrkac so I'll go with Hrkac. He dominated COLLEGE hockey like no one else and I assume the question implies we get the college version not the 40 something version. Some guys are serious about Spirko or Prpich?? We already have guys like that on this team.
  3. With the recruits getting younger all the time I suspect it won't be long before we see a story as follows: "The fetus of Mike Commodore and his girlfriend (anonymous) has declared by way of ultrasound that he (It's A BOY!) will play hockey at UND starting in 2027."
  4. ...if that doesn't work, maybe he can sit on the bench. So basically, the Red Wing Doctrine is that if he's able to put on a Sioux jersey he MUST be good for SOMETHING. But you seemingly discount the possibility that others wearing the same Sioux jersey are BETTER than he is at ALL the things you suggest he CAN do especially if he has yet to prove he can do any of the above.
  5. I'm too stupid to do this. Is that NCAA GAME box cover real???
  6. NO KIDDING!!!! If you can't call Trevor Hammer (WHO?) a bust then there is a loyalty oath that says that a Sioux fan is forbidden from calling anyone who puts on a Sioux jersey a bust. LOL!!! That's an oath I can't take.
  7. All true. In baseball EVERY pitch means something. A pitcher obviously controls so much of the game, but only in concert with his catcher, and I love to watch which pitch the catcher selects in any given count, how he reacts to men on base and the whole game-within-a-game that occurs in almost every inning. No it is not a brazen, barbaric, slam-you-in-the-face kind of game; it is thoughtful, interesting, slower but marvelously athletic sport. I love it, watch 7-8 games a night and really just can't get enough of it. It's not for everyone especially those who've been raised on Nintendo and MTV and have to have some form of visual mind stimulation every twenty seconds or the ADD kicks in. I love the pauses, the explosions of excitement, the man circling the bases as the OF scurries to retrieve a ball from the fence, the base coach tossing up his arms to stop the player who ignores the signal for the play at the plate... Love it.
  8. I agree with most of this except, Finley. Not NEARLY good enough to play pro. I didn't think Matt Greene would step up in his first year, and I don't think Finley is as good a skater as Greene was. But I really disagree on the "confinement of College Hockey" issue. I sit next to a real pro hockey fan and most games he counts how many Pro penalties would have been called in the college game. It's staggering. Pro refs are more touchy than the college guys so I don't see this as a motive for Finley. Plus, I don't think Lee goes. I don't think he's got game.
  9. Forgive me for yet again being the cold bucket of water on a Sioux parade, but I'd much rather see the team win than Dunc win the Hobey. I think he's been a very nice hockey player, and I hope he wins, but what's weird is that the potential Hobey winner will almost certainly be back in a Sioux uniform next year and his linemates almost certainly will not be as they move on to the NHL. Weird.
  10. When I saw Maine earlier this year, I was VERY IMPRESSED. Total team effort; no real weaknesses, very strong team, all players have good size, mix in some scoring and Bishop is a great goalie. I vowed to bet on them when I went to Vegas in Feb, but alas, I forgot. Oh-oh. I think they look good.
  11. Let's be gracious. It was a great college hockey game it could have gone either way and we are HAPPY to be heading back to where we belong. I don't bitch about the refs, because I realized a long time ago, that NO ONE cares what I say/type/or think. I am confused by the Bina tripping call, but I'm not complaining. WE WON!! For the record, this Sioux team is better than last year's, and though some sancitified Mike Prpich, the best Senior Leader this team has had in years is Chris Porter and not just b/c he scored the GW. Just a great team player, accepts his roll, doesn't take the stupid penalty, plays hard, PLAYS EVERY GAME and leads by example.
  12. Put me in the scared category. I don't know how much you can tell by watching some videos. They will be ready to play, they have at least ... what 3 # 1 draft picks, have a line that rivals the DOT line and THEY have the better D if you ask me. This would be the toughest draw to the Title if they make it.
  13. I agree with Redwing. I don't think that's happened before. The Gophs are a league above UAF. And I think the CHA will go home early.
  14. Uh...if you are a real Bison fan shouldn't you be at a sheepherding class or an animal husbandry seminar. OOOOOHhhh wait...you guys are in the Gateway Conf. Wow. Save a place for us so we can resume kicking Bison ass.
  15. I'm sure I'll be scolded for this, but when you ask if there is anything the Sioux can do to promote Duncan's candidacy, I'd say they did a lot by putting him on the same line as two of the best college hockey players in America. He's been good, he's been solid, but there is GREAT benefit to having the two best players in America on his line. IMO
  16. It's a great sweep, but I won't say the Gophers suck. The run they've had this year is impressive as is their talent level. These teams will meet again. Woog makes a good point. He'll take the Sioux on the road. That makes sense. OH. Fight. Who won't play next weekend?
  17. Campion has totally sucked, not partially, not sort of, but he's totally sucked tonight. If he keeps this up, he'll be an NHL ref b/4 too long. He calls anything. Any time a guy falls, it's a penalty. LOSER. I'm really gonna miss Oshie and Toews next year. Fun, fun, fun to watch. Lammy is picking it up nice too. Nice weekend.
  18. So good to get 2 in a night at home and nice to get 3 (though I'd hoped for 4). Sweep next week and let's get some big mo heading down the stretch. Liked the intensity and I say that even had there not been a fight. Good effort all around.
  19. I hate to note that the "we played hard" line is the usual refrain of losing teams. I hate to sound like an old fart, but I can recall the days when AA on the schedule was the signal for the WCHA stat keeper to put 4 ponts on the Sioux side of the ledger.
  20. It is.
  21. A freaking tie to AA?? At home? Yikes.
  22. A couple W's anyway, anyhow is all I need. The rest is gravy. Can't wait to see Toews again. I hope his Juniors performance can continue on.
  23. In that first game v North they spent the game in the box. I assume they did better last night avoiding the box.
  24. Yeah, a "true fan" notices that a Sioux team was swept by Anchorage and Tech but thinks "hey the boys played hard and scored some goals and by golly gee wilickers we're gonna do better next time." It could be worse I suppose. Not sure how, but it could be worse.
