Congrats to Red River. Their penalty killing regardless of what was called in the third period was the difference. Hats off to Dane Jackson for making it to Fargo after UND won to watch the last few minutes of his son winning a state championship.

I'm going to say that Denver wins tonight. Omaha has been rolling at home, but Carle will have the full attention of the officials and his team this evening. The cup should theoretically be in the building tonight correct?

Our goaltending the past month has been nothing short of fabulous. Hats off to #33. I'm eating crow heartily as I was in the boat of giving the net to the Swede. This team has zero business winning the Penne with the group they've got. But their magic number is now 2.

South/Shanley with a big task tomorrow evening. Red River looks all the part. Should be an electric building for the games tomorrow night.

South moves on with a 4-1 win. Hate all you want on Mandan, but the 9th seed from the west got a good goaltending performance and lost to the EDC Champs 4-1. Can the Central kid take down the Riders? I'll say likely not.

3-2 Final. First time in Scheels arena for the state hockey tournament. Caught the end of Jamestown and Sheyenne, great atmosphere.

And the Blue Navy, and the Colorado Rapids, and Fox Motors, and The Green Bay Jr. Gamblers, and the Des Moines Jr. Bucs, Little Caesars..... Can't blame kids for leaving when you get 22 games. I can't afford it for my kids, but a good amount can.

Sad that less than ten years ago you had back to back state champions from the West, and now its hoping that Jamestown can find away against a team that played 10 kids total against GFC to scratch their way into the tournament. From the coaches meetings that I sat in I got the impression from the NDHSAA that the region tournaments are never going away. Maybe that has changed since I was coaching, but I don't ever see them going to a statewide league or cross region bracketing like they did 30 years ago.

Current NCHC Standings: 1. UND.....45 Points. (Western, @Omaha).....Extremely likely top two finish for UND. Control their destiny. But then again Omaha can help. 2. Denver.....44 Points. (@Omaha, Home/Away CC).....I'll say that Denver wins the league based on them getting CC to end the season. 3. Western Michigan....37 Points. (@UND, Miami).....The three seed is where they'll be. 4. Duluth....31 Points. (@Miami, SCSU).....Getting Miami at the right time, then home against their likely first round opponent. 5. SCSU......26 Points (CC, @Duluth)....Sweep CC at home, won't be enough....likely split in Duluth.....likely double trip to Duluth. 6. Omaha....25 Points (Denver, UND)....Could be super and sweep Denver this weekend.... 7. CC....18 Points (@SCSU, Home/Away Denver.....Either in Grand Forks or Denver. 8. Miami....14 Points. (Duluth, @Western).....The last place finishers unless something special happens. Wilbur's First Round NCHC matchups: Miami @ Denver CC @ UND Omaha @ Western SCSU @ Duluth Lets hope I'm wrong (again) and we are sharing the Penne Rosa at Baxter.

So Johnson is probably the odd man out on d, unless we dress 7 d men, which is also a possibility if Gaber can't go. I think the series at Lawson proved these teams are pretty close. Hopefully the home crowd can push our guys to at least four points.
