  1. Okay Derek. This lineup is what it is. Sitting back and playing Rocco Ball (not that it matters with what their record will be) isn’t going to cut it and will for sure mean 100+ losses. The limited opportunities you will have to win 1 game in a series can't be missed. You've got to bunt runners over, try and steal bases, and not take out Ober with 83 pitches..... I'm not really sure what the philosophy is currently, but they need to just bring some kids up to the big and let em play.
  2. A former coach in North Dakota High School hockey that I respect a lot refers to it as "checkbook hockey." The age groups I see a lot of kids in the Fargo metro for these AAA tournaments is scary. Much too young to be specializing. Golf, track, baseball, lacrosse, tennis. Get them using different muscles and get their thinking differentiated a bit as well.
  3. Caleb Heil sensational again for Madison last night. His team puts up 13 total shots last night and he wills them to victory. He was the story of that series, stealing three games.
  4. I guess its a battle between Payton and Andy Dalton of all people to back up Mr. Positive energy.
  5. I think he should've went to FBS, the offers were there. Prove it against the big boys instead of guys who get the coverages screwed up every third play.
  6. So got a big citrus, a linebacker, and an OT with the dreaded "short arms". And Greenard is now an Eagle.
  7. They just best hope that the big guy heals and puts the injury behind him. Until that time all we will hear is "see it wasn't Kwesi's fault!"...when it was very much KAM's fault.
  8. See....big guy....huge.....history of breaking foot which has really limited him for the past few years, and anyone who has broken a foot will tell you its easy to break it again. Lot of guys had him as a day 2 guy, yet here we are. I was thinking Safety or Corner, but what do I know.
  9. Two rookies didn't look terrible yesterday. We ended the Mets losing streak, but if you look at who was pitching for them vs. us and who was in their lineup vs. our lineup that game shouldn't have been close at all.
  10. Edit, not Kendry....
  11. I guess its could be worse....we could be the Mets.... The pitching matchup tonight and the lineups should've meant a Mets victory. Twins win and Kendry Rojas tomorrow....
  12. Goalie turned right shot defenseman....Schloss always big on right shot d men.
  13. Parise/JPL holding on line one for you.
  14. This is an excellent take. Face offs extremely important and are amplified when you get into the one and done where zone puck possession is so key in the outcomes of games. I think there will be a real battle for the center roles on this year's squad.
  15. I just can't get over the Varland trade. Talk about stupid stupid. Alan Roden and Kendry Rojas for one of the best relievers in baseball. That would be like the Twins being able to trade Matt Wallner for a top tier 8th inning guy.....And he's not even making a million bucks this year. Just a devastatingly horrific trade.
  16. And another one today. Feel for the team, but this will be the norm all year long unfortunately.
  17. So did I miss the official announcement on Sandy not coming back?
  18. I think today is probably your look ahead to what we are in for most of the year. A good six inning start for Bradley, you have a two run lead late, but you have zero shut down relievers and you lose the game. Another good start for Bradley though.
  19. Emilio Pagan back in Minnesota for the weekend.....Never forget..... I don't know what was worse, his late game collapses or Rocco continuing to put him out there for late game collapses.
  20. Right. There have been a few players previously who I will not mention who have worn letters but should have been given a suit for Friday night performances or their body of work over a previous weekend. I think Jax and company are above that one......at least I hope they are.
  21. Exactly. At Ohio state there are football players who make more in a week than the entire hockey team for an entire year.
  22. I was talking to Carter Krier who does a lot of work over the summer with local goaltenders in the metro and he made it seem that unless its public knowledge (Penn State 750K) that what we think kids get in NIL is a lot less than it actually is.
  23. With Herter and that d-core I've got Western in the top four. I thought Soller was coming in next year, but he must only be a junior school wise turning 18 in August. I think its a toss up between UND-Denver-Duluth, but I'll never sleep on Fersch and what he's able to get out of his teams. Will see if Hicks is able to be Matty Davis 2.0 and build on one remarkable season after another. Way too early opinion on life in the NCHC next year. 1. UND-Green Glasses. Finally got a Norwegian on the team. Last time we had one of those we made the regional in Fargo. 2. Duluth-Plante(s) and company. Can Sandy win a league regular season championship? Carl Axelsson a great goaltending recruit. 3. Denver-Carle and company. Likely in the F4 with the regional in Colorado again, regardless of their seed. 4. Western-Miller Time in the Zoo. Lost some points at the top, but they'll be fine. I'm high on Adam Benak. Elite playmaker. 5. St. Thomas-just missed out on the NCAA tournament last season. I think they sneak into the top 5 with an experienced guy like Musser. 6. Miami-Baby steps, and terrific goaltending. Still surprised that kid didn't sign. 7. SCSU-See how the new regime under Nick Oliver starts off. Some fresh faces into the fold as well. 8. CC-Latvian kid is the leading returning scorer on a team that had 259 points collectively. For reference UND, Denver, and Western were around 400 each. Only Omaha had less. 9. ASU-Complete roster rebuild..... 10. Omaha-Life after Simon. Jubenville could end up on the top pair. Seriously. You can tell I, along with David Carle, put a lot of stock in goaltending.
  24. Couldn't agree more. There should honestly be three of them. One with us (weekly/bi-weekly?), then player advisors, and lastly parents. Our main goal here is accountability. And nattys.
