The high stick call when he was literally 120 feet away after the other reff waived it off was brutal. He watches Duluths d men do those pick plays all game long and then calls the one on Kleven when the guy swan dived. Why is it every flipping game with him? Its like, wow who was the reff that.....oh no.....its Walsh....

Will see SCSU in a couple weeks, but this Duluth team is good. Just a clinic in the neutral zone, and they make you pay for every inch. The area where the biggest disparity was between the teams was in the skating department. Their team speed was huge in being able to pressure the hell out of us all over the rink. Some guys got exposed in that department, but we knew that other than a few guys we didn't have an elite skating team this season. Dumb penalty by Jammer. His line became obsolete after his curtain call.

Duluth just suffocates the neutral zone so well. They are a good hockey team. Much better than the pios.

We definitely could have run with no nickname. I love this. No Sioux logo on it so those who get offended can't get offended, and that ugly US postal service bird isn't on it so those that won't buy anything that has the hawk are more likely to buy it.

I remember my dad talking to Mark Kauk (aka the Kauker) at state hockey years ago after Central dropped the Redskins and became the Maroon and Grey. He was ticked and I proudly saw him wearing his redskins beanie for years after when we would run into him at state hockey to chat for a bit. I think it speaks to your point that Central was only the M&G for maybe 2 years before Knights was adopted I believe? IMHO not taking a name for a few years (5 years at least) may have eased the transition to something else at UND, a cooling off period per say. Would our fan base be having the same argument had the school went with Norse or Nodaks? Probably.

I'll forever die on the no new nickname hill after Fighting Sioux was retired. There are a thousand teams out there that are the hawks. The one I truly hoped for was Nodaks when they decided that we needed a nickname, but I was in the minority there I guess. New alternate looks good IMHO.

Talk to me when Sanderson, Kleven, and Frisch are all back next season. Nothing against this group, or other great d corps we had, but IMHO that 2016 group was the bees knees. Start to finish, just a dominant season.

The top four guys we have at D are pretty good. IMHO not at the 2016 level though. Stecher, Poolman, Ausmus, LaDue, Thompson, Wolanin/Shaw....what a group..... We've been spoiled.
