  1. Barry Melrose and ESPN still think Ben Scrivens should win it every year......
  2. Seems to me like Girl's basketball is more popular in Grand Forks than hockey. All my cousins from GF went to Red River, and while the boys all played hockey, the girls were all basketball players. I'd be interested to see the split of Central girls vs. Red River girls on the team. When I was at UND and did some student teaching at Central High School all they could talk about was the lack of numbers they had for all girl sports, and the trend was getting worse. However, that was 15 plus years ago....
  3. I think you could see Miami and Western join the CCHA. Then it'd make an easy transition for Mankato and hopefully Arizona State, as my in-laws live in Gilbert and its a cheap Allegiant flight from Minot to Mesa.
  4. I see the Ralph got out their set of "game nets" for the tournament.....
  5. Scheel a top ten finalist for the Mike Richter award. Chance that a goalie not named Spencer Knight wins the award????????
  6. If the goalie would have got kicked in the head I'm told its "a hockey play".
  7. I'd pay $25 bucks to watch a team with a Bruin in a Spartan helmet as a logo. #Spruins
  8. I can't remember if it was him or not that was so upset that UND won the championship in 2016 that tweeted that UND fans were like Yankee fans except for with severe brain injuries or something like that?
  9. Hating North Dakota has got to be in the bylaws somewhere.
  10. Imagine being Chris Dilks.....running a college hockey website. And then not knowing the rule that it doesn't matter if the puck is deflected out or not, any shot directed on net stays in the zone.....
  11. It blows my mind that Pinto would crosscheck Abate last year....just blows my mind....
  12. If I'm him I transfer to a university with a great flight school. Like in case he wanted to be a pilot and play hockey.
  13. @stoneySIOUX should get rightful credit for starting this thread. I've been lazy this week....
  14. I agree. Any guy with a hint of an injury you leave behind in Grand Forks. I give Thome this Friday, and then get Scheel back in there next Friday even though its the senior night game. Can't have our number one go two weeks without playing a game. I'd put Keane with Jammer and Rieger and let those guys play against Abate's line as much as possible. No Kawaguchi? Or Pinto? Gooch is a bit dinged up as he didn't play in the third period when UND was up by a lot. Not sure about Pinto, I'm sure if he's 100% he plays. I believe that he will give limited time to his top players. I'm putting in Albrecht before Rieger. I have some fears about this game........not just losing it. Do you not trust Mike Gabinet? Does anyone? haha That would be a big hell no. What will our lineup look like this weekend? I am going to predict it will look like this. Hain Adams Gaber Budy Weatherby Caulfield Blaisdell Senden Keane Ness Jamernik Rieger Albrecht JBD Kierstad Kleven Sanderson Frisch Moore Thome
  15. True, definitely need a second tier in ND high school hockey. I think for all sports Jamestown wouldn't mind being in the East Region.
  16. I'd be interested to hear Jasper's opinion on this with his position amongst the "student diversity council" or whatever it is, and what his work with Miller entailed while he was at UND that the article mentioned. Whether UND made promises to the kid or not.....Cancel culture > UND.

    Jacks VS Hawks

Is J'bore hurt more than everyone thought, or did the Freshman just beat him out?
  18. Funny thing about that 2016 season was that Cam was the question mark. With the makeup of the d core and the CBS line, if they hadn't made a deep run and faltered somewhere it likely would have been due to the goaltending and we all would have pointed at Zane leaving as the reason they didn't hang #8. Instead, the first two shots of the season went in, and the rest is history!
  19. When I played Devils Lake was in the west and Jamestown was in the east. Wonder what changed to make them flip? Just my opinion, but if I was Jamestown I'd absolutely want to play in the east region. All those Fargo schools, and your worst bus trip is Grafton.
  20. The ones that do out west end up losing good kids to other programs. Watched the Minot-South game last night and Minot has lost 8 kids that should be on their high school team this year to prep schools or prep programs. The kid that scored the first goal for South-Shanley last night is a Wahp-Breck kid that left and ended up at South-Shanley like the Senf kid who left Jamestown the year before. Talked to a dad that sent his kid away out here in western ND. The biggest thing for him was the game/competition factor. You get 20 something games in ND high school hockey, and if you play in the west you've got guaranteed league games with some teams that are lacking when it comes to being able to put a competitive team on the ice for a high school game. His kid just played in his 47th game at his prep program. I've always been a huge fan of high school hockey. Coached, played, etc. Just can't blame these kids when the NDHSAA does everything in their power to keep all the other sports at competitive levels (see Red River and Central dropping a class in football), yet hockey just remains on the back burner.
  21. Central vs. Red River for the state championship part??????? Central is the 28 time state champ? Not sure how many Red River has. Wonder how many state championship game appearances between the two schools.
  22. Looks to be Central vs. South-Shanley and Red River vs. West Fargo Friday.
  23. If Central kept the gas down the entire game they could probably get close today. Bottineau has a pretty good goaltender, but he'll need to be sharp to keep Central under 6 goals. Thrilled to see Bottineau at the state tournament, but know that the inevitable is going to occur with all the talent that GFC has.
  24. Go to ndhighschoolhockey.com. The guy who does that site put up a full list of links to both boys' and girls' games starting at roughly 4:30 today. On Friday it looks like a full days worth of games starting at 11 AM.
