  1. Wow, it appears as though StarVolley is correct. Pages 61-62 are particularly interesting. It appears the option is there. Hopefully UND can position itself financially if the FBS option presents itself. Also interesting that NDSU and SDSU are not interested as they believe they will be getting an invite to the MVC.
  2. Not that I believe your theory, but if true, I highly doubt USD is being asked since they already had their chance at becoming a Big Sky member...
  3. I went to the U.S. game against Switzerland this week and the place was pretty empty. One thing they could have considered was to have a discounted price for kids, maybe have kids 12 and under free or maybe pay a couple bucks. Get the kids there and parents will have to take them and pay. My brother in law had to bring his 4 year old daughter with until his wife was done with an appointment and able to pick her up...had to pay $15 for her (same price as an adult) and she didn't watch any of the game.
  4. They also had 2 for 1s last Saturday as I stopped by for a bit to check out the Dusty Rhinos...
  5. Playmakers became The Hub, which has since closed down.
  6. I believe you're thinking of the Hub. Several bars and an arena that would feature national bands...fun place back in the day.
  7. Not sure, but when the Wirld Juniors were here last time, they set up a stage and bar (complete with Black Jack tables) in the Betty. My guess is they are doing something similar.
  8. I've always preferred flying into Newark. Second choice would be JFK as they trains that will take you into Manhattan. I'd try to stay away from La Guardia...need to take a bus or taxi/uber to get anywhere.
  9. Yep...I did check that out already. My brother lives in Hoboken, NJ so accommodations are set, tix are set, now just need airfare. I'm also heading out for the UND Vs.Stoney Brook football game to kick off the 2016 season. Looking forward to both trips! EDIT: You can also use this link to get a better idea of the view from your section. Can't get the exact seat, but pretty close. http://rangers.io-media.com/web/index.html#
  10. Investing in MBB has the potential to bring in much more money than Women's Hockey. I know we can't cut women's hockey, but we can invest more in MBB and in turn, receive more in returns. There are studies out there that show how much money school can make if they make the dance, and more if they can win a game or two. Everything from increased enrollment, to advertising dollars. MBB has alot of potential if you invest in it...
  11. Basketball has been good at UND and can be good again. The Gophers is not a good comparison. Look at B1G basketball in comparsion to Big Sky basketball. A lot more competition in the B1G. If UND decided to make Men's basketball a priority, it could be a regular to make the NCAA BBall Tourney, and perhaps eventually pull an upset or two, just like NDSU did. There is only one real BBall program in the Big Sky and that's Weber State...one could make an argument that Montana is as well I guess. Bottom line is UND has the opportunity to make noise in basketball, and unfortunately, thus far have chosen not to devote the resources necessary.
  12. It appears Hooker is leading as of 8:00 am today. They have a little blurb above the ballot box.
  13. Hooker is in the finals. I know it's Frozen Four week, but hopefully UND fans remember to vote this week. http://collegecourtreport.com/2016/04/03/ccr-mid-major-player-of-the-year-fan-vote-final-four-results/ edit: link to where you can vote. http://collegecourtreport.com/award-season/mid-major-player-of-the-year-fan-vote/
  14. It appears Wasatch has three boys teams. One that plays independently and against teams around the country and two that play in the Utah high school league. Wonder if he will play with the independent team? http://www.wasatchacademy.org/athletics/basketball-boys-girls/
  15. You can't honestly believe that there would be nothing to gain for UND if they were in any way associated with the B1G? Even taking away any potential money/academic ties, and looking only at it from a hockey perspective, there are benefits. Sure the B1G is down now, but that will not stay the same. Everything is cyclical. Having the B1G schools on UND's schedule on a regular basis will attract more fans, especially if UND beats them on a regular basis. I know many of the "old school" hockey fans have a tough time believing that there is any value to the B1G, but it's there...especially if/when they decide to devote even a percentage of their budget to improve their hockey programs. Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan will not stay down for long. I believe it's a moot point anyways, as I think it's a pretty slim chance we get an invitation.
  16. I'd agree that ASU fits the short term. But IF they were considering UND, why would it not be for the long term? If enough B1G teams were started then yes, eventually UND would be out. But if only a couple teams start, it would be fine to have 9, 10, 11, or even 12 teams in the conference, wouldn't it?
  17. I agree. It would be great to go to the B1G, but I have to believe UND is pretty far down the list for who gets the 8th spot...
  18. There was a post on GPL (GopherPuckLive). There was also a rumor with UMD or UNO due to their affiliations with UM and UN. I don't see those two schools happening. My money is on ASU as the best bet followed by UCONN or possibly Miami, OH.
  19. Quinton moves on to the next round. You know what to do... http://collegecourtreport.com/award-season/mid-major-player-of-the-year-fan-vote/
  20. At risk of repeating myself.... As for the Anteater fan, I knew the usher who was working that corner of the gym. According to her, the fan was "on the court" meaning he had walked on to the carpet strip behind the basket and was also jawing with other fans. They removed him the first time for being on the court. They removed him again, although she said he was allowed to watch from a different area, because during one of his pacing episodes, he ran into a little girl. Apparently he was telling a few people he played for the Clippers also. That guy was just a bit off...
  21. Should also throw in that Students were on Spring break...
  22. Time to start voting again!! http://collegecourtreport.com/award-season/mid-major-player-of-the-year-fan-vote/
  23. Fun game to watch and UND played well, including Shanks...for the most part. Not sure what happened to Avants as I don't recall seeing him in the second half? UND shot well from the outside and UC Irvine definitely had the height, but we held our own in the paint. If Shanks can develop an offensive game similar to their #32 (Best) UND will be very good. That kid (#32) had a nice shot. As for the Anteater fan, I knew the usher who was working that corner of the gym. 24. So what tournament are they playing in?
