  1. I think that's a little harsh. She's one of the best in the world and I've seen her pull of similar moves before. Canada's goalie was too smart to fall for it but it's not like there's any guarantee a simpler move would have been any better.
  2. She's 5...and my wife would kill me, then resurrect me just to kill me again.
  3. My daughter started cheering for the Tigers tonight because the "mean green team" was scoring too much.
  4. About the only way I see him coming here is if the Vikings hire their TE coach and even then I find it very unlikely. Personally, I hope they sign Keenum. All of the other options have greater risks and/or larger price tags.
  5. This off-season will be very interesting for QB. Cousins, Foles or Wentz, Keenum, Bridgewater, Bradford, maybe (but doubtfully) Brees are all FAs or trade bait. Plus there's the draft.
  6. I disagree. For instance. I dislike thay we retired the logo. I don't dislike that we picked a new name but I dislike the name that was picked. However I've accepted both of these and can move on. The logo itself is just awful and frankly I think it's indefensible. I actually want a mascot. That was a downside to the Sioux logo. In summary, much of the complaining is due to poor choices made by presidents and their various committees. But that doesn't mean that we are all the same or that people can't move on.
  7. My Gopher brother said that the Big7 is waiting to see if the NHL study gives enough money to Illinois to make a team. Personally I don't buy it. If the Big7 was going to make an offer it would have happened before we cut women's hockey. It would have given them leverage (we can save your women's program with Big money). In any case I don't see why would would accept an affiliate membership. The pros just don't seem to balance out the cons. But who knows, it might be part of Kennedy's vision.
  8. So...Big Ten hockey would have to fold?!!!!
  9. I have seen people suggest the following names for us to sign or trade for: Brees, Cousins, Smith, Manning, Garoppolo and of course, Kaepernick. While most of these are good QBs, why would we sign any of them when we currently have 3 QBs who have already played well for us? Of those three, Keenum played beyond anyone's prediction and he should be a priority to sign this off season at QB. Bridgewater and Bradford can stay on if they want to back-up Case, but best guess, they both will want to start elsewhere. If Keenum wants too much money or doesn't want to stay, then I'd go for Bridgewater. Bradford did great for us but he is older and his is more injury prone. In the unlikely scenario that we don't sign any of our three QBs, I would love to see Brees on the team (assuming he doesn't resign with the Saints or retire, which he probably will do one or the other). Regardless as to who the starter is, I think it's worth mentioning that we also have Kyle Slotter who managed to stay on as a 4th string QB. The team clearly values him enough to keep and I think they plan to use him as the backup next year.
  10. I wish instead of a worthless heart icon that means the same thing as a thumbs up, this site added a laughing icon
  11. And where would they go to? The WCHA? That conference has tragically collapsed the last few years. They could reform the CCHA but then they'd need 4 other teams to leave their conferences.
  12. Well the Colorado teams would probably like to have ASU. For the WCHA, they have nothing to lose and no where to go but up. In either case a PAC12 hockey conference is not going to happen anytime soon. In the meantime I'm sure both conferences could benefit from their money and influence as a Power 5 school. The biggest risk to the NCHC is obviously their impact on our conference record/conference strength.
  13. Is there any truth to the rumor I've seen on Facebook that the reason we don't have a Hobey Baker nominee this year is because our Athletic Department didn't nominate anyone?
  14. Pfft...that's not a dark horse. A dark horse would be an out-of-the-blue candidate. I'm going with one of the Lamoureux's for an upset and a return of women's hockey with an increased budget to accommodate their new European-Olympian-Only recruiting strategy. One of the twins will be named head coach with the same contract as Berry. 3 more buildings destroyed, 4 majors/2 more sports cut to make it all work. 3:-)
  15. Only true for the Final 5 which were literally some of the most boring, unimaginative names suggested. Even the top ten list was very weak.
  16. That's a lot of speculation there. Have they even published the finalists yet? Brian Jones had good timing last year. I doubt they'll fire him this year even if he lost every remaining game. I just don't think Kennedy would want to deal with that PR after cutting sports last year. Now I could see them firing him if if they do poorly in conference this year and start poorly next year.
  17. I wouldn't say that...really all of the good nicknames were eliminated well before the voting even started but Fighting Hawks is tolerable albeit barely. We just need a better logo...
  18. I'm from Minnesota and I still like Wentz. He's a good guy with an inspirational story. Same could be said of Thielen. While I didn't cheer for either in college, I have no problem cheering for them in the pros. Like @sioux rube I'll typically cheer for my home state teams assuming UND isn't playing them.
  19. Just think...this could have been our logo...because nothing strikes fear into opponents like a rainbow.
  20. My family does this intentionally as we live across Minnesota and gave different favorite teams (Gophers, Sioux, Bulldogs, Mavericks and Beavers). I gave my Gopher fan godfather a camo Sioux undershirt (he's a hunter) and he asked how soon is too soon to regift. Apparently it's one year since I got it back the following year. Last year my Gopher brother got my daughter a goldy hat...we needed the hat so we told her it was a beaver since my parents went to Bemidji State and my wife goes to Oregon State online. Also Goldy looks more like a beaver than a gopher.
  21. If only we had 1 or 2 other venues that could host basketball games in order to support larger crowds...
  22. I've done that before. Complete with the Sioux Jersey (have to use the Blackhawks logo)
  23. I'm confused. I thought there was only DI and DIII for hockey.
  24. No one views the NIT as better than the NCAA tournament. It's a consolation bracket. Neat to play in and even better to win, but everyone wants to go to the big dance.
