President Kennedy Message on Athletics
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
If another member of the B1G starts hockey, they would not ask for an affiliate to join. That just doesn't seem likely. Next year with ND, they have a conference of 7. Don't see them staying at 7 too long?- 2,150 replies

The Bizon will soon be a has been!
-
WOW, wasn't "Leave No Doubt" a message to Cow College!
-
Coach of the year, E. Wash is also doing things right? But a #9 seed along with playing on the road on the first weekend of the playoffs, that be a slap. Probably something more going on there than the Big Sky Rep could help us with.
-
They would never give us a top 8 seed in that scenario. One must remember there is not an agreed formula that the NCAA must follow, they choose with humans. The NCAA still might have a Fighting Sioux hangover! Remember the snub we got last year of not getting into the playoffs? I'm even concerned this year about getting snubbed out of a Final 8 seed in a couple of weeks.

When the decision is not in your hands, there is doubt, ask Hillary?
-
Ya, if we get a crack at them, they'll most definitely be favorites, and of course they get home field advantage. Sure they could beat us like they did last year (unlikely), or buy less (because we are better than last year and they don't have the talent they had last year), or we could play with them (possibly beat them at the conclusion of the game like their last three losses; Mont, SD, SDSU).

After the 2nd game of the season, who'd evr thunk, we'd be watching UND's second half comeback against NAU resulting in a run of the table for the rest of the season? Playoffs, Leave no Doubt! Keeping in mind all the injuries, this team has dramatically improved since then, especially the offense. This coaching staff seemed to really have a feel for the players they had and coached accordingly, kept improving the team, and built a team that can make a mark on the FCS playoff landscape. This team deserves a top 8 seed. This year the Big Sky didn't give anyone an easy schedule. After time off to heal up, UND will be ready to be tested by the best in the playoffs. This team is better than I've been giving them credit for, they've showed some real talent lately. Gotta love the coaches and staff! Football success is a lot about being a team, UND has a FB Team!
-
I think you're right, should of said "I hope the Bizon are getting worried". And while I'm at it, if they might be a little over confident if we play them, GREAT, then we'll have a chance!!!!
-
We could have Faison hurry up and make a trophy like he did for Football. He had that one made ahead of time?
-
Congratulations to the Fighting Hawks! They are probably the best team in the country in the 2nd half? That was a championship run come back. Bizon are starting to get worried, they know we will be in their path.
-
It took many years for the Bizon to have a playoff game in the Fargo Dome after they started playing in the Dome in 1993. UND moved into the Alerius Center in 2001 and that year started with home playoff games. Bizon are on a roll now, but they could slip this year. We are rebuilding are fan base and look forward to bigger crowds next year. If Bubba keeps improving this team, soon there'll be posts on here how the Alerius isn't big enough.
-
Watched a few games on the catwalk when the building was new, was pretty exciting, great view. I do like sitting down when we have the ball so I'm not one of those crowding you all there. I'll be in a tree stand, really feel uncomfortable about missing this game. Hope you all have a great time at the game and keep up the winning, Hawks! I so want to go to a home playoff game, I know we're on the bubble for that, but maybe?

Al Pearson's Hockey Bus
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to Pearson's Hockey Bus's topic in Men's Hockey
There's a Hockey Fan! Known Al for many years. Lifted a few with the great guy. Wish you the best Al! -
Don't worry, UND won't disappoint you. They'll win to play another day, just might not be in the Hawks Nest!
-
Ok, say "Jane Doe" like the police would, until he's identified. Na, the NDSU police department would do better than that, maybe, "Bizon Joe". From the pic, a male surrounded by Bizon fans, even could be reserved section. Looks older than normal student, possibly has season tickets and an Alumni?
-
There will be more season ticket holders next year, winning fuels that! Rebuilding a fan base takes lots of work. Home FB playoff game and win would be BIG. Road win in Fargo Dome would be HUGE. Sooner or later, somebody going to knock them off their throne, I'd just as soon have it be UND! Students need to step up this Saturday, they really need to do much better than 2 weeks ago. The general public is slowing getting more involved, maybe they surprise us a little?
-
An at large team would probably participate.

President Kennedy Message on Athletics
BarnWinterSportsEngelstad replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
Ya, all UND sports may not be funded at a high level. Although success in some sports will help with increasing alumni donations, OK! And, Pres. Kennedy has potential there. We haven't mentioned the UND B1G hockey affiliation lately. This absolutely needs to be included in this thread. The MN goofs think they are dam near in heaven right now. They just tied and beat us; and in the last while they had a very difficult time beating anybody just west of them. Add $90 to $1?? a ticket plus TV, come on? Well they pulled it all off. Lots of $ in a hockey weekend. This is a game changer! The Badgers jaws are still dropped. The B1G took notice Monday morning. They might (maybe already do) want us and Pres. Kennedy may not say no. Lot of details to work here, ya even pay NCHC $M bail to get out. Football and Basketball - men's & women's: have great potential and traditionally have been very competitive in our region. We may have most of our old NCC friends back. Other UND sports may do well with these old chums too, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we had a batter up at the plate again. Take fund raising to the next level and SS will never be the same either! Now, LOOK at the big picture: Athletics is a vital part of the U. Most AD loose $, but sports also help alumni stay more connected with their alma mater. Most U alumni donations don't go to the AD. Adding that up is being done all across the country, but it never shows up on a spread sheet! PS, I was really really against the Sioux name change, but am slowly warming up to our new name, same ND. I might soon buy my first Hawk apparel.- 2,150 replies

Conference affiliation talks are apparently taken place and with that there's potential movement of other teams. Be interesting to see how this plays out. Sports in college cost money and most U's accept that, more like how much? Maybe today cost savings isn't our main priority, where it could be just to become more regional. Regional also helps more with alumni involvement and donations. What about baseball? Fast Eddie was about cutting in sports, not figuring out a winning scenario. Pres. Kennedy wants a winner. There hasn't been enough said yet about how much money the U gets from our alumni and how important that is to our financial aspect of running the whole U. A successful sports program is an ingredient in most alumni donors appetite's. And, isn't Pres. Kennedy suppose to have a natural gift of being a great fund raiser?- 2,150 replies

And most of the Students will be home for Turkey?
-
I'm guessing, but the guy looks like a NDSU (animal science '90) alumni donor, 2.2 overall GPA, season ticket holder, yells SSS at the games.

One more loss wouldn't do much, a few of these teams would need 2 loses for the Committee to seed UND. Remember where the new kid on the block, 0 experience in Div I playoffs. Therefor no respect from the Committee. We can't loose either.
