That's also assuming that a new guy, who would be at equal footing with Romfo, wouldn't continue to improve also. The passes Romfo was making even at the end of the season....the best o line in the world wouldn't help. The QB bar at UND is very low right now. And should be very easy to clear, the pool of candidates is high.

If he can't find a guy to beat what I just watched this year, we in trouble.

UND Football: What a Schmidt Show!

Can't believe after the national search, the 3 best were all current or former UND coaches! I learn today UND has had some of the best coaches in the nation!

He moved up a tier coach position but down a level school to get there. And they sucked this year. Just learning.

I just thought he had a more significant role. But he was like 3rd or 4th tier coach there behind the head coach and D&O coordinators. And there's quite a few of these 3rd and 4th tier coaches at schools like Washington. I just learning.

So Schmidt only got to be a defensive coordinator one year (last year) after leaving UND? His other coaching roles were pretty minor then I guess.

Not really...it's all been guesses. Today's the day the local paper writer said it would likely be announced... Then former players on twitter said the AD picked a new coach tonight... When you follow SS long enough. You know who actually knows stuff. It's like 100% Schmidt.

Still weird to me Schmidt only ever been the head coach of high school football.

The deep state was pushing hard for Schmidt. So It'll be Schmidt. Likely be announced soon. Like miller said "late tonight" And it's currently getting late...

All you had to do was go on SiouxSports, the day the position opened up, and you could guessed with high confidence it was going to be Schmidt! Crazy how predictable it all was....

It's like election night: "Sorry folks there will be no winner declared tonight. Go home and go to bed. Sorry for keeping you up thinking an announcement was coming."

Another stat is after the year 2000, the year they both moved into new facilities, UND Football and Hockey both have the same number of National Championships. One sport only has to compete against 60 other teams and has the top facilities and attendance. By that metric UND hockey has been the bigger failure.

You don't play doormats in the playoffs. So thats irrelevant with your discussion of how far UND "should go" in the playoffs. ("2 playoff wins minimum") Add 200 more Murray States and that does not affect the quality and level of play in the FCS playoffs.
