Yes. Smaller than GFK. Iirc we read "Devils Lake and TRF get new airline service." Then we read "Lose airline service" when federal dollars dry up. I love these programs... even more options nearby for flight travels in the Grand Forks area!

1) Minot is 30 more miles away than GFK and Hector. 2) Minot is more remote and historically has a more transient population (Minot AFB personnel, oil workers.) 3) Bismarck doesn't have nearly as high as airline service as Hector, making it easier to add flights to that area. 4) "The west" has a higher flying culture because of distance and terrain? No easy drive to MSP like the east does for more flight and leisure options...GFK and Hector still have to compete with MSP for passengers which "the west" does not. Less lake cabin (culture) to go to like everyone seems to have in GFK and Fargo area for vacations? Grand Forks even has a city of about a million people a little over two hours to its north competing for its flights and entertainment dollars.

That's not what anyone said, and you know it. Recognizing that Fargo boosts quality of life in GF doesn’t mean GFK has no value. It means we’re lucky to have both. No need to twist it into a fake argument.

I dont know the definition of "regional" but GFK operates day to day and it relies on $0 federal dollars.

Trolling? How is cheap flights in the backyard of GF trolling? Multiple flights to different cities across the country without having to drive to Minneapolis when Hector finishes expanding.. makes my life in Grand Forks a lot better! ...of course GFK isn't going to attract new flights long term when another major airport is so close!

Just makes sense. Because being one hour from each other it's basically the same market. (New higher speed limit on the interstate made the two cities even closer to each other now!) Those new flights Fargo got? Helped the quality of life for people in Grand Forks. GFers are excited about the new gates at Hector! Being so close to Fargo is one of the best perks not many other communities have.

Oh so that's what you really wanted to talk about. Not that Grand Forks does indeed need a few apartments and a bunch of other housing every year to keep up with real data historical growth.... Insteaf you want to just compare GF to others....If that's the case. Yeah everyone knows GF isn't growing as fast as it's peers. That drum has been beat repeatedly for 20+ years and no one will argue you about it. Lol

Case in point. You're table can't even get the 2020 Grand Forks Census numbers right. And that's just easy copy and paste stuff.

Why would you use made up data when we have real data? Census runs every 10 yrs. The last was in 2020. It grew by over 6,000 people from the previous real data point, in 2010. For current trends that's about 250 or so "housing units needing to be built a year." 40 to 60 units per apartment. Although they keep getting bigger and bigger. You can do the math. From 2010 to 2020 Grand Forks needed a lot of housing per year to keep up with population growth. Made up estimates don't mean anything. We've see that time and time again. They have a bad track record for anyone paying attention. Even if it only grows 3,000 people the next ten years you'll need a at least couple new apartment complex a year to keep up with the population growth....not to mention more single family homes, condos, townhouses.

On average Grand Forks needs about two to four new apartment complexes a year to keep up with population growth.

Looks like Grand Forks will continue to have the state's largest indoor waterpark.

Probably as long as they want since they own the building. If mortgages, tenants likely cover the morrgage costs. But yes missed opportunity costs. Which I'm sure they're aware of. Place has historical been empty. I don't think many people are banging on their door to rent it out.

Just like we're seeing with Italian Moon/Happy Joe's. Restaurants are a labor of love. Once the owner/founder get old and moves on, the odds of survival greatly dimish. There's only so much juice in the lemon. What once was a prime location isn't anymore. What was once a new building is now outdated. Places like Bonzers survive partly because it's was passed to the family who grew up in the environment and learned and still have parents as mentors. Places like Joe Dimagios got bought and turned into a better place with a new name. Ponderosa turned into BWW. Then there's every young kid with a dream "I'm gonna start a restaurant or bar." It's the low hanging fruit of business. They are usually not adequately prepared.

The Range looks nice. A lot of places want to be a restaurant/bar with golf Sims. Albatross is golf focused: a pro shop, golf lessons, high end simulators (including wrap around sims). The golf is first. The "bar" at Albatross is mainly like a beer cart at a golf course. And he likes it that way. I thought his newer place in the mall was pretty nice. Feels like a "modern bowling alley" with each "lane" having it's own tvs and couches. If you're there for the pure golfing experience. Albatross wins easily. The Range Sims are equivalent to the ones they sell for at home use.

NCHC had the top two teams in the country yet again. Sad reality is no other college hockey conference is even close to competing with the NCHC.

It would cost $200+ Million to build Engelstad Arena today. And US Bank over $1.4 Billion So I don't think $500 million is "US Bank stadium territory."
