So how soon do do they announce Schmidt as the new head coach? 2 weeks at the most?

Schmidts name being thrown around so much on this site.....means, I'd venture to guess, it's being tossed around equally in the athletic department... It definately feels like there's smoke smoldering....

Brent Bolte seems like the guy with the most potential amongst likely candidates. Or should I say the least risky.

Why hasnt any football team hired Schmidt to be their head coach yet? They all found better options?

Chaves hired Baldwin partly because he had prior EWU connection. So we can use deductive reasoning to basically know it'll be Baldwin or someone with a UND connection.

Chaves hired Baldwin was he was only 36. Pretty young. It would be nice to hire a young coach who after 10 years at UND isn't at retirement age.

I like my head coaches to be fit like their players... Shows Self discipline and Motivation.... Unlike myself.

The second Bubba left the head coaching position at Duluth....they won a national championship. Despite the red flags....they picked that guy, over the guy who came to the Alerus with a lower division team and laid a whopping on UND.

Maybe Chaves guy said yes and then that got the ball rolling on "let's have a talk Bubba"?

If UND didn't hire from within so often maybe we wouldn't be in this position and only have one championship in a 100 years. The status quo is obviously not working.

Might just be worth taking a gamble. Especially since he's a coaches son. Runs in his blood. Won a championship as a player in HS. Became the Captain of his college football team.

Ok...so FBS poaches FCS... So I guess if FBS usually decides their best bet is to poach lower leagues... I guess UND should copy that and poach a lower league.

How far back you gotta go to see UND hire a head coach without prior UND experience? Over 70 years...like leather helmet era football?!

D2 or another FCS coach....don't matter...can be a current coordinator but I'd like to see successful college head coach experience....someone with an upward projectary.
