A weighted lottery. Many people have said it and it only took all of 10 seconds to come up with, but it took Student Government many long nights to tell students to line up at Friday at 8:00 and form a nice line in an orderly fashion. Then there is the second best idea and that is to let people wait in line as early as they want, but I believe REA did not want people camping out earlier than Friday morning, so that blame goes to REA. Probably don't want to spend the extra MONEY to watch over the students for that long of time. The real question is why do Student Government get 90 tickets already reserved for them in the lower bowl? Seems real unfair to me, not that they just get 15% of the lower bowl, but also that they wouldn't have to wait in line like the rest of us. Seems unfair to this guy. I realize that this year they gave them up, but last year it was a nice perk for them. Next year I might have to join.

None of those students will physically be on UND campus to take the class, while they will physically be on campus to take their clas at NDSU. That could have something to do with why NDSU uses them and UND does not.

There has to be some inside knowledge to this, although I know nothing specific. There has been multiple rumors from many different people. This may have to do with Todd B. possibly getting fired, etc, and Deano looking into other possibilities, along with Roger Thomas as NCC commisioner. There is no doubt many people are upset with REA Inc, look at this message board. There is many upset people with the way things are run, charging for tours, mandatory "donations," the club bars not open to other sioux club members, etc. Why does UND not run/own Engelstad Arena right now? Show the public the numbers of how much the arena made/lost.

They take at least one class at NDSU, so that would classify them as "part time." I'm not 100% sure but UND includes their part time students in its overall head count. In this case it's just that NDSU's part time students attend full time at another college.

The process, per say, did not switch half way through the process. The students were told to start lining up at 8:00 in the morning on Friday, but some students BROKE the rule and lined up last night (thursday) given them and unfair advantage over those who payed attention to the rules and showed up "on time" Friday morning. They had to make it fair to those who showed up Friday morning like they were suppose to. What should they have done have people line up on the streets at 8 remove the barricade and let them run to their spot in line? The fair solution would be to have a weighted lottery. They could have given more entries to the Junior and Senior class. OR last years went fine. People who are DIEHARD lined up early and waited in line. There was no excuse to switch the procedure. You want to wait in line a week go right ahead its your life. You had class and work to attend?..You couldn't find friends that would hold your spot in line?

Student fees help pay for my football ticket, but not for my hockey ticket? What happens if I don't like football, I'm paying for a ticket I'm not using.....I think that arguement is flawed. I am a student and a big Sioux football and hockey fan. No I don't want to pay $5 to go to a game. I was just comparing the two non-UND owned athletic arenas and how we now have to pay for one and not the other. But many read "lets start charging UND students for football tickets," which of course I just took that stance to play devil's advocate and get some good discussion going and try to liven up the board. How many teams in Division II/I-AA charge their students to watch the games? A lot of the arguements were for atmosphere etc. I agree 100% now go back and read your posts comparing what you wrote now to Engelstad Arena and all those could apply, like I wonder how good the atmosphere would be at the Ralph Engelstad Arena if all student sections were in the lower bowl and allowed to stand like at football games. I believe the atmosphere would increase ten fold.

They though students would show up at 8:00 am Friday morning and get in line? Common sense tells a person people are going to get in line early to "get in that line." This is only an issue for two reason: 1. Students are so disrespectful, foul mouths, drunks who can't control themselves that they must know who sits in that seat so they can watch them with the cameras for disorderly conduct and take away their seat when they say a bad word or stand. (the first part was tongue in cheek in case you didn't notice) 2. Engelstad is only out to make a buck regardless of the situation. They don't care about the atmosphere. This wouldn't be a problem is their was such a SMALL student section in the lower bowl. "hmmm how can we make more money...well lets put twice as many students in the upper bowl as their is in the lower bowl so we can sell those seats for good money...perfect."

"There is no such thing as ugly girls, just not enough vodka."

When did they add baseball to that list?

Charging students has nothing to do with supply and demand. Before moving into their respective new buildings more people attended, on average, football games than hockey games. It is all about making money. As of right now UND/Alerus makes $0 from students, and if they only 1,000 paid $5 for these seven home games, that is a good amount of money. The Alerus has one of the best atmosphere in Division 2. Why screw that up? I remember the old Engelstad having one of the best atmospheres in Division 1, but they moved into a new building and started charging students. They didn't seem to care about the atmosphere. I also propose having only one section in the lower part of the Alerus and moving the rest of the student sections to the "upper" part, therefore allowing the season ticket holders to have better seats which will result in more money as seen in Ralph Engelstad Arena

UND has a good reason to move up. "Profit Sharing" from the Frozen Four they participate in. UND has missed out on some good money in the past.
-
The Sioux moved into a new non-UND owned hockey facility and started charging students to go to the games. The Sioux moved into a new non-UND owned football arena, so why not charge them, say $5 to go to a game?
-
I'm betting NDSU will tear down the BSA and build a new basketball facility after consultants said it would cost to much to repair/renovate. $8-16 million that seems a little steep to me to renovate a building, considering the extravegant Betty only cost approximately 7 million.

No one ever mentioned a 100K arena. That is not the point here.

Gotta sell dataflix tix some how.

That made no sense at all, anyways... When is NDSU going to realize they just ain't in the same class as UND? Yes you can argue about what the definition of flagship is, but UND is Tier 3, NDSU is tier 4. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/r...tudoc_brief.php You won't find NDSU in this book; Best 357 Colleges There is only doubt among NDSU fans, which school is the 'flagship.'

I think SiouxGoo has a point. http://www.UND.edu/org/iac/IAC05-26-04.htm "He reported that most team budgets stayed the same or were cut." "Ray Diez questioned whether Athletics would end the year in the black. John Sirignano said the budget surplus was last year

Star2City, your one of my favorite posters. Keep up the good work.

The UND administration must believe its Duluth because that single game ticket costs $20 compared to $18 for the rest, or should I say they saw an opportunity.
-
The atmosphere at the Alerus is 10 times better than Memorial ever was.
-
No need to expand to 15,000. BSC is never going I-A and neither are the Sioux.

You want to have a serious discussion about UND recruits.
