I think you are pretty close. Maybe a few more than two. This weekend is the Mens Show. Next is Class B Basketball. Next is the Healthy Living Expo/Budget RV show. March 17: Democratic Convention (this is one of the open weekendsm but I don't know. It was in the arena the year I went to it. But it was like 15,000 people. ) March 24: Home Design & Garden Show (Never been there but probably in the Arena like the Mens Show) May 7: Easter Egg Hunt (not sure where this is at? Open weekend number two?) May 14: Harlem Globtrotters and Motorcycle show. April 21& 28 May 5: Proms (three more open weekends) May 12: UND graduation May 19: Flea Market (there last year its in the arena. Place is packed) May 27: High School Graduations And then June. That makes three to five open weekends between now and June, at most. This isn't to say just because an event is scheduled for the arena in the same date, they couldn't have both events. *Yet so many haters cause it loses money. I'm luvin' it. If just the Sioux played there it is worth it to me. I doubt UND would be where they are at without it.

Not a benchmark for success a benchmark for exposure and name recognition throughout the country. Apparently that bowl game has two teams most people have heard of Arizona St and Boise St. Doubt many people would have heard of Boise St had they stayed FCS. Before the Sioux moved to FCS. I could have never named the champion. Heck, I didn't even know there was an FCS! I have a feeling many casual people don't know there is either for football. Top search page for the ratings says the MAACO Bowl drew 3.1 Million viewers. Google or my search abilities are having a hard time finding the FCS championship ratings. But I found this on a message board I think that equals about two million viewers. So if these "crappy" bowls get more exposure than the championship game (or are about equal in aspects) and it is easier to get into a bowl game (at least based on records). Why not choose the one that will over the long run produce greater exposure? Why do you think Idaho would rather drop football, according to about 70% of their fans on their fans message board, than return to FCS?

The Sioux Nickname and Logo Have to Go, this is the only option left.
Cratter replied to siouxfan17's topic in UND Nickname
No matter what, you simply won't convince some people. That having home NCAA playoffs (and not wearing the logo in NCAA tournaments) is worth giving up the name for......its ok to have differing opinions. (and yes I know the "other" non NCAA what might coulda shoulda woulda happen scenarios...you can spare them. I read this site). -
POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
Cratter replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
But it would help UND and hurt NDSU. NDSU is like "Montanaesque" halfway to FBS already. A championship erases 3-8 seasons in a second. -
.....I would have taken Sandelin....(can of worms) haha sorry couldn't resist.

I was talking Idaho and football. Have yet to see a regular season game of FCS on ESPN. I would rather play in a bowl game. No matter how "small" it is. And doubt it would be a body game game. Probably be against the Gopher with the Sioux dominating. Being FBS, no matter how irrelevant, is still like 5x greater for exposure than being FCS (and winning or playing for a championship?) Idaho, a pretty crappy FBS, team would rather drop football than be FCS. I can be Idaho in NCAA Football on playstation. I can't be any FCS team.
-
Just guessing but that bowl game would probably get better TV ratings and usually averages more than the FCS championship game. Idaho had a regular season game on ESPN (or 2) this year.
-
Didn't say it was a problem. Just a trend I noticed based on the top 3 of 4 sports at UND.
-
What was Grandstand complaining about? He wanted more money from UND? Does he not realize UND could give zero if they really wanted to.
-
I thought UND had this policy? UND: The place that hires assistants to be the head coach after the head coaches leave.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
Cratter replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Would NDSU make more money scheduling UND for a home and home or Georgia Southern like they did? -
Already have been. Dude is like Doug Woog...never going to win the big one.
-
ESPN (or 2)usually shows the big sky championship game, I believe? This might not look good on tv say Sac St vs Eastern Washington at Northern Colorado for the championship.
-
Obviously talking about yourself. I let you have the last word then, and I will do so again now, cause I dont' judge life by the internet. It's pretty simple, I have facts with quotes...and you just choose not to believe them. Its cool. To each their own. Good Night.
-
No disrespect, but the article is already posted and being talked about in these forums.
-
First you say you only believe quotes....ok here you go (from the same article): again, I will wait for the discredit part, from an anonymous poster, ... (this is from a newspaper newspaper article) What is he talking about " help the board move quicker." new presidents mansion? You happy? Those are quotes...let me guess No you aren't? Guy can never win with great facts.
-
It would also be weird if a whole newspaper article was in quotes to satisfy a certain category of readers.
-
No one? Come one people... Grand Forks can easily make the claim Hockeytown USA, but GF has that shy, inferior complex? Herald blow this open.
-
Does it really matter if it wasn't a exact quote to you? The guy was in the room asking the guy questions. He came to that conclusion...its like wow, believe what you want....but. The guy in the room probably has more knowledge on the issue than you or me. He sat next to him and talked. None of us can claim that yet we discredit him cause we don't like what he reported. Also he refused to talk because, maybe, yes he had a chip, got his point out, but now also knows maybe UND might/will/probably still be a member of the conference someday....as long as every Dakota school is but UND.....money saver. Rivalry saver.
-
Very well written on your part. You do a great job. That fargo radio station loves to talk to people about the UND nickname, KFGO?, (Wanless, Fullerton). Why don't they get Douple on the radio?...or maybe they tried and "No Comment" to me speaks volumes. Until then, I will always claim, "the UND president came out and asked a conference commissioner to come out against the nickname. "

Alumni Association begins campaign against nickname
Cratter replied to jimdahl's topic in UND Nickname
Standing Rock, oddly enough, doesn't even entirely reside in North Dakota. Wonder why UND can't get approval? like the rest, the ncaa wants a sioux tribe, the only one entirely in ND and closest to UND wants UND to use the their name, but the NCAA says, "NO, we know better!" WTF. -
It's a racist policy. The NCAA is only singling out Native Americans!
-
The Fighting Sioux are college hockey. Anyone that doesn't schedule them are the real losers.
-
Kolpack talked to a commissioner of a conference and wrote this....but I get it you, a "nobody," will "discredit it." That quote was from a Newspaper! and not a blogger! Who should one believe....you, anonymous poster, or a newspaper reporter? Its true. Learn to accept it even if you don't like it.
-
Alcorn never had a president come out and ask a conference commissioner to come out against the nickname.
