Isn't "calling the herald" "announcing it?" There is no doubt a fraction of the population wants the sins of life outlawed (the ones left): alcohol and tobacco (there has even been a push on caffeine). Kelley just might be one of them. *Its UND policy no smoking outside on campus. And now Kelley just told REA not to show old people drinking beer on the video board! Insanity.

Thanks for the response Jayson. Matt Schill is a good person. and smart.
-
I am going to go out on a limb and guess, "the sioux," "north dakota," are indeed not owned by "UND" like you claim.
-
Right. Jayson you listening? We are all waiting.....
-
Since Cal Poly is ranked ahead of Southern Utah in the polls.... Should the Sioux win can we expect to see Mussman get dumped with Gatorade again like at Southern Utah?
-
That's another thing that reminds me of how the Alerus killed Sioux football. At Memorial Stadium you could leave the game and come back in. If you want people to stay after halftime. Let them go "have fun" chill at their "campsites" drink a few beers listen to the radio/watch tv. Make it a social event.....the radio says the game is getting close again....let the fans back into the building!!

The Gophers are the best hockey team ever! There is simply no denying that.
-
Are you preaching to lawmakers?

One things fans need to remember student attendance has never been that good. It peaked with a new Alerus Center and championship runs in 01-06. I was only a teenager but I remember looking at the student section at the Memorial Stadium and wondering where the students were. FBS is the only thing that will make students excited. This isn't NDSU where its "our" number one sport. This coming from a diehard former student that would attend both hockey and football games religiously (probably like most of us that donate lots of our time on siouxsports.com). Me and my bros would even wake up to go to McMenamy's for 3-1's at 7 am!! But unfortunately many don't share our passion. FYI student sections at sioux hockey games don't usually sell out, its looks full after the general public is allowed to buy the rest of their unused tickets.
-
Yup UND already does something similar. One the sport UND cares most about Hockey http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205316251

The Alerus killed the students/atmosphere/tailgating. Look up the definition of blowback. Charging people to tailgate? really? Student tailgate for free? But they have to be in their own "special section?" Nobody puts baby in a corner.
-
You act like the rest of the Alerus Center is sold out besides the student section. Tons of empty seats everywhere. Football season tickets are pretty dirt cheap. You want to give the general public those seats? So basically you want to decrease the Alerus Center atmosphere even more? Because then with all the open seats in the Alerus, student would just move to the corner.

Wow a 22 team football league! I guess the sky is the limit.
-
The only thing ever holding NDSU back is how they continually compare themselves to UND (insert NDSU fans here)! Yet their total appropriations to NDSU will have gone up 96% from the 2003 – 2005 biennium through the end of this year: Talk about government waste!
-
If NDSU's budget was so tight they wouldn't have given nearly twice the tuition waivers UND gave.
-
Tight budget? So NDSU can give more tuition waivers?
-
current president. i guess not always. My bad.

My argument? My argument that North Dakota resides in the Mountain Standard Time? Thats a fact. Think small my friend. Think small. Montana will always go to bat for UND. Even if/when they go to the FBS. Another fact. I know its a big deal for NDSU fans to be "DI." Hence their football attendance increase. UND fans are use to their number one sport being D!. Its no big deal to them to still be playing football in a second fiddle division (AA). Its been stated UND's ultimate goal is FBS. That will get the university truly excited. I can't believe NDSU waited this long to move to IAA/FCS. In reality NDSU should already be in the WAC. NDSU could already to Boise St. There obsession with UND truly does keep them back.
-
Does NDSU want more money so they can give more tuition wavers to increase enrollment?
-
They are funded the same. NDSU and UND are funded the same as their categories of "peer institutions". Should all schools be funded the same per student? SCSU, UMD, and Minnesota, BSU, UND, and NDSU? Its all a grand conspiracy to keep NDSU down!!!!
-
Didn't they burn down?
-
Dear guy that doesn't keep his word, Its called The University of North Dakota, not GFU. You realize North Dakota is also in the western time zone also right? Guess there goes that argument. Like most of your arguments. They don't make much sense. You also realize Montana wanted UND in the Big Sky? U of M wanted to partner with UND. Montana is the biggest play in the Sky. The other presidents were willing to do anything to help keep them in the Sky: Montana said we want the Dakota school that gets the most national attention according to ESPN. Wish granted.

Its one thing to be IAA (FCS) and playing teams from a lower division, But its another when half, three out of six, of your home games are against NAIA (or whatever they are at least were when the Sioux were D2).... Something is wrong. Complain all you want about how hard it is to schedule, blah, blah, blach, but if you ask me, Faison has failed us in this aspect. And people wonder why attendance has declined (and the ones who show up leave at halftime).
-
I disagree. Yes the average Sioux football fan wants to see a winning team, but I also think they wanna watch a competitive game. I get offered football tickets all the time. I easily turned down Montana Western and Black Hills St. I went to Drake (FCS and it was the first game of the season.. I am sure there are hundreds like me. No thanks, I don't wanna watch a non competitive football game the Sioux (should) are going to easily win by forty. I don't think you give the quality of the opponent enough consideration when reflecting on attendance. I feel its two things: winning and opponent. If "we" suck no one shows regardless of opponent. Sioux are having a good season, the opponent become more critical. Lots of people are excited about next year. Because its an awesome home schedule. I don't even care if the Sioux lose. Part of the fun now adays to me seems when they might lose at home. Competitive fourth quarter games at the Alerus seem to far apart. One a season? The transition has been hard on Sioux football and could not have come at a worse time. The Sioux were riding high. New building, won a national championship, playing great (home) playoff football, and beating the Bison. All of a sudden it was all taken away. Nothing to play for and playing "no name NAIA schools." I think the average fan would much rather watch UMD, SCSU, Mankato, or any other regional D2 school that the Sioux fans are familiar with (versus University of Sioux Falls!) Here is a quick story of how the Sioux football team got a new fan. My mom, bless her heart is/was over fifty and works at UND. She rarely went to a game. Never really paid attention. For some reason she went to one of the home playoff games (2001 or 02). The atmosphere was so amazing she was hooked!! The next year she bought season tickets and even now still has season tickets and never misses a game. She even tries to listen on the radio when she can (away games). The thing that got her hooked is no longer there.
