  1. I can state this: As a head coach, Kalen DeBoer has a perfect record in Alerus Center.
  2. Probably is. Figure out where Carl Ben Eielson MS is and you'll figure out what I said.
  3. Bring SIU staff to UND; save franchise? That should get 'em rollin' at the SIU board.
  4. My guess at an answer: DeBoer's offense hasn't been exactly ripping it up at SIU.
  5. An HR department's job is the vetting process of candidates. If they know of one that just won't pass that process they won't pass the name along to save the committee's time reviewing someone who can not get the position. I've seen that when I've hired people. Me: "I know X applied. Why aren't they in this stack?" HR: "Uh, we know about this urine test result ... " Me: "<curseword>"
  6. The "9" is coming from UND HR. They score the applicants and send over the highest of those that fully meet the minimum criteria. -- No Aetna agents, no sandwich artists, and not gamers who use PowerPoint. Now, to the better point: Prove to me that Mr. Faison is *not*: (a) working someone to apply (the position is not closed for applications until filled), and (b) working key alumni to get more money for a staff.
  7. Portland State's football program has been told it must be fiscally self-sufficient going forward because of a $15 million budget shortfall at the university. http://www.oregonlive.com/collegefootball/index.ssf/2013/12/portland_states_football_progr.html Now, linking in a different, but related, thought by "ira" in another thread: We know there are "haves" and "have nots" in the Big Sky. If this is the first sign of coming fiscal issues at other schools it's time for UND to behave as a "have" (because it is). Don't get left behind with the have nots.
  8. Yup. But it needed repeating.
  9. How is Dale Lennon feeling right now knowing both of his coordinators are shopping themselves? I think the handwriting is on the wall for Dale in Carbondale: Win in 2014 or be moved along.
  10. Folks, I said back after the debacle against Montana that the firing should've happened then, before the bye week. Many disagreed. I was willing to run out the season with an "interim" to avoid this.
  11. In that scenario: Brad Berry; Steve Johnson; Cary Eades. Fastest turn (internal hire) would be Berry. The problem here is that UND Football was on a slow steady bleed of coaching talent since 2007.
  12. Aren't we in a "dead period" now until mid-January?
  13. Any donut is a good donut.
  14. Folks, James 5:9 That is all. (See, I did go to church yesterday and was listening!) PS - Can we get back to a conference re-alignments discussion now?
  15. Trying to prevent a "lame duck" coach situation for some other school similar to what NDSU has now would be my guess.
  16. Compare and contrast: Montana program issues under Pflugrad versus NDSU program issues under Bohl. Pflu had the JJ/rape thing (acquitted) and the boosters/bail (that was family). Bohl had Best Buy and petition-gate and his speeding tickets and Beck's issues. Clearly Bohl was not poison to Wyoming. Is Pflu's problem set worse? I don't know. I'm asking.
  17. The dude from Marshall made a funny, and got the attention he craved, but ... 14:58 14:59 15:00 ... his time's up.
  18. Indiana State beat Notre Dame this year, and I'm pretty sure Larry Bird wasn't on the court for these Sycamores. Or was it someone's Super Bowl ....
  19. Notre Dame is hosting, on campus, in their home rink, with boards that say "Fighting -----" on them. I'd say Mr. Faison has ample reason to approach the NCAA Executive Committee and say, "We dumped our name, you won, and now you're being just vindictive ... and fiscally foolish. We're host, just like Notre Dame, so let us host like them: at home."
  20. Question: Would you rather be "follow the ND University System hiring process" guy and leave no way for anything to be challenged later or would you rather try to short-cut it and have issues to deal with later? The process almost surely (yes, speculation on my part) has to cover: - ND state law - ND University System policies and practices - Federal equal opportunity guidelines Oh yeah, dealing with all of those is sure to make any process speedy.
  21. Get settled in and comfortable folks. I'm hearing Faison's going to be doing calls and interviews and my "Thursday at 2 pm" will be right, but in which week in December is the question.
  22. The term is pyromaniac and this one seems to have a tendency towards self-immolation.
  23. I can't believe no one has realized this ... Those of you in the "Last Man Standing: Chapman, Taylor, or Bohl" pool who had Taylor may turn in your tickets so we can divvy out the winnings. Thank you.
  24. Third in less than 18 months with Hak. <ding> "Tell him what he's won, Johnny!"
