  1. 17 forwards ... yeah, one isn't eligible until January, but 17? I suspect a low playing time guy, or a guy who isn't developing may be going elsewhere.
  2. He was so old his name should've been Steve Dehorsepullingstagecoach.
  3. It's nice to be able to pencil in "Kristo" on a line chart for next year. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=91053
  4. OK, I'm a little stunned, but not unhappy. The front office mess in Montreal probably helped UND fans out.
  5. And the law is the law and the NCAA hasn't broken it.
  6. Let's try this one more time: The NCAA is a private organization. The NCAA is not a branch of any level of government. The NCAA is not much different than a private country club. They make the rules for members. Like it or leave (or worse).
  7. Well, now that I have my new job (thanks Goon!) I'm going to assume I only answer to the Commissioner and that the Head of Officials works for me. Knowing that, I'm pulling the second referee off the ice. Yup, off the ice. Instead they'll be sitting in a designated seat in each league rink and they'll be connected wirelessly to the on-ice refereee. The off-ice referee will still call penalties but do it through the on-ice referee (hence the wireless connection). The off-ice referee also be responsible for video reviews. How many times have you sat in your seat and wondered "how'd the on-ice officials miss that?" Well, let's get one referee out to a broader view of the game. We have the technology. Let's use it. I believe my plan will: - open up some ice - speed up video reviews - help ensure the right folks get called during scrums and such - do a better job of keeping track of "behind the play" stuff - work toward a safer, cleaner game I'm The Sicatoka, and I approved this message.
  8. The membership at large voted to give the NCAA Executive Committee the power to set policy on issues like this. The vote was in the same timeframe as the settlement. It served to prevent UND from suing on the basis of "the Exec Comm doesn't have this power". After the vote they do. However, what the membership also did in that same vote is effectively give the Exec Comm the keys to the candy store.
  9. They'll complain REA has too many NCAA Mens Hockey Championship banners in the rafters ... oh ... wait ...
  10. <cough> ... UND ... <cough-cough> ... Jason Blake ... <cough-cough>
  11. Everett, WA -- a Seattle suburb. Seattle -- a town without an NBA team. Portland? You mean that west coast city that is home to an NBA team? What's Seth's dad do again? Something about "NBA assistant coach with NJN" ... Hmmm ... interesting coincidence ...
  12. You know what that's called don't you? If not, ask the Secret Service. They're brutally familiar with the term lately.
  13. At this point, with the little one knows from a Twitter twip, twap, twerp (or whatever you call it) I guess I'd also speculate if Everett is trying to get what they can from the pick. The conspiracy theory would be SJ told Everett that he won't play for them but would play in a place like ... Portland. Again, it's all speculation. I'll wait for the lad to speak aloud his final decision.
  14. As I said, this started with Jim Delaney, Barry Alvarez, and the Big Ten Network. The last one (BTN) is also able to be spelled as "$$$$$". The WCHA without Minnesota and Wisconsin, well, here it is: So DU and UND make the same "$$$$$" decision Minnesota and Wisconsin did. But DU and UND did it in reaction to the first move.
  15. Let me read the contract then I'll give an opinion. (The REA folks have read it and gave theirs when they signed it. )
  16. And the Earth orbits the Sun, not the other way around.
  17. You missed on number of games but for picking an 8 over a 1 you still get the
  18. Out west it's LAK/STL** and keeping the LA television market in play has to make the NHL happy; however, ... The notion of a NAS/PHX series (can you say "zero television interest"?) surely has them terrified. And if OTT goes down, sure they keep NY television interest, but they lose the last Canadian team! **LATE EDIT -- just realized this ensures at least one UND alumnus in the Western finals. (Greene or Oshie and Porter).
  19. Goon, there are people who still believe the earth is flat also.
  20. The Big Ten's "if six play a sport we play in conference" rule is strictly a Big Ten rule. They could've changed their own rules to allow for the traditional hockey conferences to stay together. Instead, they chose Penn State and forming BIg Ten Hockey over the traditional conferences. The Big Ten looked out for themselves first (as well they should). Don't be mad at DU, CC, UMD, UNO, UND, et al for doing the same.
  21. All Minnesota did is roll over for Jim Delaney and Barry Alvarez and the fat Big Ten Network paycheck. The good of college hockey came in at least fourth on the list. MSU-Mankato came in somewhere behind that. PS - Minnesota is playing nice because they don't need you little guys (BSU, UMD, SCSU, MSU-M) making too much noise to the Legislature in St. Paul. Be sure to pick up the crumbs they leave you.
  22. "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious." -- Simone I guess I'll wait for young Mr. Jones to speak for himself, one way or another.
